CoH/CoV do have great graphics.. ffxi.. i dont know about that..

you have to realize that fallen earth is in what.. like alpha stages?

do you really think its a fair to judge graphics in this stage of the game? you look at MOST games in their alpha or early beta stages and graphics are pretty bad. some of those games improve of the graphics and animations by the time of release and become very good games. I am in a couple of betas now that the graphics either were or are bad and they all either have improved them or have big plans to do so.... since its beta.. as in the game is still in development... as in still being MADE... as in improvements are planned and always will be planned and taken care of... as in wait till the game comes out before you start crying over it

The graphics and animations for FE from what I have seen are . The "Day in the Life" video on the FE main site looks horrid. That man is suppose to be in danger but his poor animations made me laugh. Nobody would carry a rifle on their back that way either, it's glaringly wrong.

I will get many "Don't judge it yet" posts in reply I am sure. But if the people over at FE  saw fit to put that video up in order for me to see it, I will post what my opinion of said video is.

The gameplay may be more personally satisfying than Pocket Pool 2.0, it better be, to look that crappy.

I watched the new trailer also from sept 07'. They need to replace that alpha stuff. I will still try this game because i like the idea and the setting. But the graphics don't do it for me.

    Gimme a break.
You want to call FE graphics sub-par, then show me the mmorpg they are inferior to.
because there is no mmorpg with Half Life 2 graphics, and won't be until server/bandwidth technology improves.
I'll give you to MMORPGs that have superior graphics:

City of Heroes/Villians and FFXI.  Icarus has a long way to go before they can ceompare to the quality of these two games that came out 3 or 4 years ago.

Look at the figures in FE, big heads, generic outfis, the landscape is nothing special at all (granted it's supposed to be a wasteland but it should be more appealing) and the worm the guy fights is nothing special with no special effects to intrigue me.  The animations suck, watch him fire his gun or the dunebuggys suspension as it drives across the desert.   It doesn't look natural.  The game looks like it was made in the late 90's.  Anyone can make a MMORPG now; just look at how many are out there.  In this flooded market, you'd better wow me with something more that just the story setting.  The story is the only thing this game has going for it.

that is a development video made YEARS ago. the engine has came a long way.

An MMO in what... Alpha1 phase doesn't look like Crysis? SHOCKING!

Wow, way to necro a thread  And I would hope a game with 5+ years in development and a 40 million dollar budget would have better graphics than a game still not in beta lol. Even then, its a matter of taste ... I think FE is looking very nice so far.

Here is what I know...World of Warcraft graphics suck balls and people seem to think that game is "ok" even though i completely dissagree with them..so what are we talking about again?

  • Nikoz78Nikoz78 Member UncommonPosts: 910

Yes, Vanguard's graphics are truly amazing. But the game-play is very boring.

This game seems much more my style. Time will reveal all.

I'm not one to be a graphics whore, I find that the game needs a story and depth, inner beauty so to speak, and this games graphics aren't that bad and its story is an interesting one, but obviously from comments previously made before people like good graphics and even though some don't, this will heavily implicate on the games success, and then impact on its survival. So lets prey this game will find its own Hoover Damn and creates its own enclave with some "posts" filled with friendly loyal veterain player.

Please please don't think of the graphics as key.... they can be revised and refreshed with ease. Worry more about game mechanics good design and playability(because without that the graphics wont help one iota).

Graphics do not make a game ... just provide a bit of icing

vanguard?! that unfinished peice of junk? you see icarus is shooting for baseline machines to run it being at about 2.0 amd/p4's. not uber machines because the game suffers from constant memory errors.

vanguard better of had good grfx otherwise they couldn't have tricked the smedster into buying it!

The way this game looks I don't think graphics will have much effect on the game. They do look great and it looks like it will be a really fun game to play. I bet this game is going to be really big.

Graphics looked great a few years ago, but to todays standards (Lord of the Rings Online, even Everquest II) they are sub par in my opinion.  But, I agree with the above, that the game will rock regardless of the graphics.  I love the feature set, the setting, and the scope of the game.  I can't wait to try it, I just wish it would come out soon, while the graphics can at least hold their own for a while longer, cuz after a time, there absolutely is a need for a visual upgrade (Anarchy Online is a good example of a great mmo that I can't play because it's horrible to look at).

Anyone remember the graph's from VG,Lotro early closed beta's ??.FE isn't even in alpha yet, they have to get the mechanics down first..

FE is one of only three jet to be released games that I have any real interest in..(note) I said I, as in me..not you

Looks like the game has come a long way graphically.  Next few years are gonna get pretty interesting for MMORPG's in general  Slowly [but thankfully] MMO's are breaking away from the cookie cutter gameplay and this is one of those games that's doing it in a big way.

For me the visual graphics of this game look good enough. However, there is something that looks unnatural to me in all the screenshots with the character models. They appear out of proportion, maybe like they have overlarge heads and the arms are too short?

It must be from constant cloning.

I personally think the graphics are fine for the genre of the game.  Post apocalyptic, the graphics will also feel tarnished and add a layer of emersion to the gameplay for some.

You cannot compare screenshots that way, because you don't know the system they were made on.

Your LotRO screenshot was clearly done in a rather low video setting.

well 4+ years in developement can lead to dated graphics...that said this game is still at the top of my radar, even though i havent really seen any more from it than i did 2+ years ago when i discovered it

Check over at the official site, www.fallenearth.com. They put out an update in the Question of the Week section almost every week. There are/will be a bunch of new articles out about FE because of their exposure at the recent GDC.

This game is coming, and is very far along in development.
