FE to be bought out soon

ColaCola Member Posts: 402

Fallen Earth will soon be bought out by a larger company. Not sure who that company will be but it is currently in the works. May take Several months to complete. But be assured it will happen. Sources close to this situation state that Icarus Studios have been trying to sell FE for awhile now and are getting close.

and of course, I can not......and will not......reveal my sources.

If this is true what does this mean for the game?  If FE is sold Does Icarus and developers like Lee Hammock have any future input into the game?  Why would ICARUS sell its maiden product?  There is no other apocolyptic MMO on the market and the first company to scratch this nitch will generate alot of attention, so why would ICARUS sell?  I think you're full of it.

Large, colored text. Claim that sources can't be revealed. Posted on an internet forum. It MUST be true!

The real question is: Why would someone even bother to make this claim unless they were just trying to stir?

Sir, everyone knows that there's no reason for anyone to lie on the internet.  Stop trying to make people think for themselves.

And how can you deny the truth of something that's in BIG, BOLD, BLUE LETTERS?  Come on, if he took the effort to do that and center align it, it MUST BE TRUE.

    I am buying it.

I got the owners drunk last night at the local pub and purchased FE for a half full bottle of Jack Danials, a pirate eyepatch, Brittiny Spears cell phone number (I copied it off the bathroom wall), 2 cigerettes, a box of condoms and a picture of Daffy Duck.

There, I posted so it must be true. Cola wasn't suppost to say anything.

(Oops I forgot the large colored text...oh well)

I don't know if I'd really hold Huxley up there as a MMO.  They've already scaled back the amount of players multiple times, and they're still at it.

By the time it releases (if it does), I'd be willing to bet that it'll be more like UT with a graphical server browser.

Interplay sold the rights to Fallout to Bethesda. Interplay retained rights to the mmo version per the contract with Bethesda. However, the contract states that if interplay does not have the funding to make the mmo within a certain amount of time, and then have the mmo in full development within a certain amount of time after that, the mmo rights are recinded and become the property of Bethesda. So far, Interplay does not have the money required ( I believe the amount required by the contract with Bethesda was 30-35 million within 2 years(?) of Bethesdas' purchase of the IP). So, if they don't get their butts in gear ( and frankly, I hope they don't, as Interplay is not the company they originally were), Bethesda will have the mmo rights.

Umm... Yeah... Fallout MMO has been planed for awhile. It's just a matter of when. Expecting it to arrive sometime LONG AFTER Fallout 3. But who know's really, hence why I typed might in caps.

    You a Fallout fan btw?

Well the last time I checked up on that game it was an MMO but I had know idea about what's been going on to date with that game. Interesting. Especially when Twilight Wars crashed and burned awhile back, good thing they on their feet now.

I'm not saying that it really isn't a MMO, but my point is that it's going to be more like Guild Wars, rather than Planetside.  If you're going to be going in to it expecting massive battles and persistent battlefields like Planetside, you're going to be pretty disappointed.

maybe your "sources" are a little confused over the situation at icarus and FE, LLC. icarus has developed the engine they used in creating FE, they did so with the intention to sell and license it to other game developers to use. FE, LLC is a completely (on the books anyway) different company that has use icarus's engine to create FE. now, even tho the two are independent, FE is a working demo of the engine and developed to sell and license the engine used for its creation and has little hopes of ever seeing release as created (IMHO). now... that being said... did a "larger company" purchase the license of the FE engine from icarus or has the demo of the icarus engine created by FE, LLC been sold ?

i bet you don't know which.

i don't doubt your post, i just doubt you have a whole lot of understand in what you're actually posting.

Just to echo the last poster, the game FE is not being sold to anyone. They have licensed the engine for other companies to use, through Icarus Studios, the parent company of FE LLC, which is putting out Fallen Earth.

But, to disagree with the previous poster, Fallen Earth is not vaporware, there are tons for screenshots, storylines and developers notes at the main site. There is no doubt this game will go live and probably in the Summer of '08. The Devs have stated that most all of the game mechanics are in there, and they are now populating the world with content and working out bugs. FE originally started out solely as a demo for the engine and toolsets Icarus came up with, but it isn't anymore. It is a game that will be going to market.

All kinds of info about that, and everything else to do with Fallen Earth at www.fallenearth.com.

The OP seems to know just enough to make himself sound silly.
