So does it still take a long time to get allt he scrolls and encounters now? Im tempted to come back with a buddy of mine and lvl up some Stealthers, but just curious if its going to take just as long as it did before i left or if they made any of it easier.

i've heard you can now complete most TOA quest line with a single group, so its supposed to be much easier, however the bulk of ht new players are on the classic cluster, (no TOA or Buffbots) which is where you'll want to be if you really want to find anyone to fight with at the lower levels.

Ahhh yeah i figured as much, Been bored with all the other MMO's out there and DAoC had prbly the best RvR/PVP in any mmo ive played. So
It takes no where near as long to do ToA as it did before. Encounters are almost never down because I think it is a 10 min repop. Everything can be done by a group now, but if it was flagged for BG credit then it still is and people still run then as though they were BG's. Scrolls drop by the handfull all over the place so there is never really any farming necessary. Artifacts level with very fast as well.
As for Classic vs the Regular servers, well it all depends on what type of game you want and if you are playing an assassin or an archer.
All archers have a RA known as MoS. It allows them to see assassins who are stealthed. The more they put into it, the farther they can see the assassin. This means they can shoot him and either kill, or pop him out of stealth. The assassin has little he can do in order to get tot he archer. Archers are at keep sieges and other areas, so assassins are essentially shut down from the large scale areas.
So assassins are going to have a bitch of a time. But having ToA abilties and artifacts helps out a great deal in terms of increasing your surviability. This fact, combined with access to the Labrynth, gives assassins a fun play ground. The close quarter combat and stairs provide a means for assassins to get some kills. You just need to make sure you can survive long enough to do it.
If what you want to do is camp bridges then there is another issue. Camping bridges allows you to get jump on people going by. This is fine, but what has happened is an assassin war seperate from what is going on at other places. Now you have to deal with buff bots. Many assassins because of lack of groups and MoS went to using buff bots. So if you play on the regular servers and you are doing activities where you are most likely just fighting other assassins you will be at a disadvantage.
The classic server provides some relief for that because of the distance restrictions on buffs. However many of them still use them. They put them up in the tower and stay very close.
On the other hand, if you play in the Lab on the regular servers, it is easy to get yourself fully buffed up by someone.
Then what you need to decide after all of this, is are you going to play other characters? If you are, then what type? If you are a caster or a healer you are better off on the regular servers, if you are playing a tank then you are better off on the classic servers.
So I guess, here is the deal. Archers have the advantage in the stealth war and probably have the most advantage on the classic servers. If you are going to play an assassin, you need to decide if you want to bridge camp, or fight in a dungeon. If you are going to fight in the dungeon, then I think the regular servers are better.
Yeah i know alot of all of that, ive played for prbly 4-5 years, just stopped awhile after Catacombs and moved to wow, have an rr8 light eld, just didnt know if i came back i would be stuck farming days for certain scrolls and such.
It is down to a matter of hours now. Somwhere between 12-24 if you want to do all of the ML and then the artifacts you need.
You can purchase ML steps and scrolls using bounty points from RvR as well.
Oh wow....damn thats nice.....i might just come back now....but im guessing its still alot of BP tho you gotta spend for each lol.
Each step has its own cost, but if you were to purchase and entire ML, then it ranges from 1200 for ML2 to 4800 for ML10. Most are in the 1500-300 range.
Scrolls for artifacts cost 310 if you need all 3 scrolls, but chances are you won't need to buy any of them.
You can get artifact credit for 300-800.
Also, you no longer need the artifact to drop. You just need to do the encounter and turn in the scrolls and you get the artifact.
Ahhh very cool very cool. But im guessing also means Every one and their mother can be on the same playing field for rvr in matter of days lol.
