Vanguard and PvP

in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes

Hi there!

I am thinking of trying out Vanguard, and was wondering: Does Vanguard have an alternate level-system for pvp? Or do you gain nothing from it? -I am here thinking of something like Dark Age of Camelot, that has realm levels, so you, when you PvP, get points to spend in realm abilities.. VG has any of that?? Or is PvP a no-gain, only-for-fun thing??

    you get infamy from pvp... basically it serves no purpose. its mostly just to say "hey look how badass i am" i like alot but i bet in the future they will do something with the pvp to attract more pvpers.

    No seperate system other than just for fun, though you do gain/lose infamy it currently servers no real purpose.

    Think of it as a PVE server where you can attack anyone above level 6.

    Maybe things will change in the future but by that time AOC/WAR will have been long released.

    yeah PVP on vanguard isnt the best. I dont know why you would want to pvp that scale in a non pvp type game but thats just me

    sadly the pvp is horrible, and no one tries to take each other on fairly (think EQ2 pvp, ahh what a mess)

    I hate to say it, but they need a Warcraft style BG system or something, and with that a balancing classes.

    As has been pointed out in one way or another above in this thread, Vanguard is not a PvP game so to speak.

    The game was designed from the ground up for PvE rether then PvP.  If your whole purpose in buying Vanguard is for PvP, then you are most likely going to be dissapointed.

    Does it have PvP?  Yes. 

    Is it fair and balanced?  No.  Not even.

    Do people use exploits to grief others on the pvp server?  Yes.  Avoid the pvp server unless you got really thick skin.

    Just so you know, there is 1 pvp server, and it is Free-for-all based.  That means that anybody can kill anybody else that is at least level 7 (I think that was the minimum level).  If you have coin on you when you die, they get part of it (I don't remember how much of it they get).  And, healers are damn near impossible to kill.  Oh... and bards will kill you all while staying invised, so you never get a chance to fight back against them.  Yes.  The bard thing is an exploit as stated on the vgbard community site by the Bard community leader (it was relayed to the community leader from a dev that confirmed they see it as an exploit).

    So, yeah.... pvp is not great in Vanguard.  Take it or leave it.
