I dont know what kind of rate this game have, but whatever of this rates is, i think its GREAT !
Because i hate to see lot of little kids (Immature) ppl on MMOs, its so annoying, they make the game boring, and i think with this rate (Mature or Adult) This game gonna have a great boost thanx to the mature community, I think that will attract more subs.
What you ppl think ?

I think its been discussed.. oh about 10 times over the first 10 pages, click search at the top
Oh its rated MATURE not ADULT.
Or: you need to be 18 years old in the US to se boobs and violence....
"Young does not necessarily mean immature, and older does not necessarily mean not immature" pretty much sums up my opinion.
Although i feel it has been shown several times that using sex and violence to up the rating tends to result in a mass of immature people, regardless of age.
the bloodier the better!
We don't want the game to be rated AO... They would only really need that rating if they included "X-rated" material like sex scenes and the like. Violence is going to get it an M rating, which is perfectly fine by me. There are several gaming stores, including Gamestop/EB I believe, that will NOT carry AO-rated titles. I don't think stores like Best Buy will carry them either, so the only other outlet would be having the game sold online through Funcom themselves. That would really hurt their sales/subscriber numbers...
I know that sex is a part of the Conan backstory, but they're going to have to keep it "insinuated" and not blatant. Topless women I believe will still keep you M-rated, but full-frontal and other naughtiness is going to change the rating...
But I don't think we have to worry about any of that, as they have said they will be keeping it M-rated... And I hope they stick with that plan.
I agree with you with the Adult rating, they will have problems selling it just online, so that means not many subs. I must say that this game still will attract 18-30 years old players, so i think the community gonna be very active and interesting, so this gonna boost the game fun.
This game will not get an adult rating, it cant.
Most gaming stores, and electronics stores have a policy not to sell "adult" rated games. It bring with it all sorts of problems such as: enforcement problems, fines, and angry customers.
Furthermore, most web based game sellers have a similar rule because of the problems enforcing the rating over the internet.
So if AoC gets an "adult" rating and not a"mature" rating they will delay the release and reduce the extreme content. It is unlikely they would push the envelope that far.
Lastly, as many have mentioned here, the mature rating combined with all this pubilicity about it will actually INCREASE the amount of young people playing this game. If you dont beleive me, ask the devs why they pushed the release date back to around spring break/ end of school year like every game does when they meet a Xmas release.
I agree. Hype and mature rating always attract teens with leanient parents (which is pretty much all of them). Despite its mature rating, how many teens do you know who HAVEN'T played Grand Theft Auto? I just wish they would go for a x-mas time release (sometime just after it of course) to get the biggest sales and let people play on vacation. We'll see though...
Even with the mature rating... Adults are going to act immature in game with the boobies and pissing in the streets. Who knows what else.
i think if it does get rated Adult then the numbers of players wont be where it needs to be
And this will happen, the anonymity of the internet can change people
I'll admit to being one of those immature adults, I am addicted to boobies and also piss in the street.
Whats the big deal? doesnt matter what age you are, the rating doesnt mean anything..
Say you are 14.. get mommie and daddies credit card. Woa, they think your 18+ now.. Point being, doesnt matter what age, people are gonna play.
I usually don't mind immaturity. It's disrespect, excessive bad language, and other unnecessary rude behavior that I do not like. Such qualities are as common in people in their 20's these days as they are in teens.
Will the 'M' rating cause a higher average mature community? Probably a little. The youngest players will likely be weeded-out.
Will it create a better community? It's doubtful.
I hope it gets an adult rating. Then I can tell the guys at work I'm going home to play my adult video game, suddenly I'm cool. Since when is it immature to piss in the street? You and my nabiour should meet.
It is unlikely that the Mature rating will keep any of the immature players from joining the fun. Most of the better MMO's are rated Mature because the "Experience" may change while playing online. The ratings are only a tool to assist buyers in knowing what type of content to expect and occassionally some stores place a policy to not sell Mature rated material to persons under 18. What is considered "immature" is a matter of opinion and culture. In Europe, many people find it socially acceptable to urinate on the street as long as you are not exposing your genitals (facing the wall for example). Burping and passing gas is socially acceptable in most countries and even encouraged in some.
In my personal opinion, I find it rude to burp, pass gas, urinate in front of me, be unnecessarily loud, and pushing. But, I don't make it a habit to call someone immature based upon behavior that is most likely generated from their cultural upbringing. What I do find to be immature is when people make comments or take actions that are hurtful to others based upon their own limited information without ever taking the time to find out why someone may be acting the way they are.
I happen to think some immature acts are funny. Hell, AoC even has a perfect setting for lude and outrageous behavior and should probably be encouraged. I just don't want to see the chat channels in game crowding with the annoying arguments about "This is just a cheap knockoff of WoW", "WoW is way better than this", "Go back to WoW and let us play", or "This sucks! I can't believe their charging us for this game!"
I'm glad that this game is coming out because I love Conan in all of its fantasy realm glory. If there is some gratuitous nudity and rough language, then in the infamous words of Andrew Dice Clay..."You got the bonus plan baby."
