Laura Genender returns with a new Community Blog Spotlight this week, highlighting Ceejay9's blog that details that user's experiences "starting over" in World of Warcraft.
I always love making a new character in an MMO. Starting out as a new person with nothing but the shirt on your back and the Rusty Sword in your pack is absolutely awesome in my book – there’s no greater conquest than working your way up from a friendless newbie to a well known and respected vanquisher of evil (or good!). This week I noticed a new blog by user Ceejay9, wherein Ceejay relates his day by day experiences starting over in World of Warcraft.
Ceejay9’s not a new WoW player. In fact, he has a great deal of past experience. Before Burning Crusade came out, Ceejay9 explored WoW and its high end content as a level 70 Undead priest. He’s run through most of Karazan, and even had time to roll a few alts.
Read it all here.

i have a problem with Ceejays statements. You couldnt be 70 until Burning Legion came out, and you couldnt do Kara either, unless he was playing on the test server.
Busted!!!

The error is in the summary, not in the source blog. The original writer never says he did that stuff pre-BC. Just a note.
I think this article can relate to playing a new game or alt in general and not just WoW
I going to have to say I think the opposite to this as I usually like to learn a game, establish my character on a decent level of progression and know that I will continue to play a game/character before trying to make new friends in a game, which I only happen to be enjoyable if I am playing and leveling with a friend already.
i agree with you General. Only reason i start a new character is because im bored at the moment with my main, or starting a pker. (I always start out as anti-pk) Usually its also with friends i made with my main, we all choose characters completely opposite of our mains, unless i am making a solo character, which then i can do on my own time without anyone helping. And usually solo characters are well twinked.
Why is someone created a new character in WoW news?
Well players get bored and are still doing it. I guess writers get bored too and want to write about it.
Because WoW is dying and they're trying to stave off the effects of their bad game development decisions with massive PR and general b***s***... did you see their "ressurect a friend program?" jeez... Blizzard is gettin hot under their feet. Good riddance and a long way coming I say.
You can see they f***ed things up reel good - the subscriptions are falling down even though there is no real competition out there since they've all been scared off for the past 3 years. It's a bad sign if you can't sell liquor even if you're the only store in town.
Good luck with your Starcraft 2 Bliz, that might save you. I know I won't buy it though out of sheer orneriness for ruining what could have been a really good game and then treating your customers like mindless cattle. You can fool some people all the time and all people some of the time but you can't fool all people all the time.

WOW (no pun intended) why are you so bitter Markoraos?I played WoW alot, have several lvl 70s. I have not played the game in months, but I am not bitter.
Blizz is not going down any time soon, if ever. The profit they have made on WoW alone will keep them and their parent company going for a long, long time.
I kind of liked the blog, gave me a different outlook on making an ALT, in WoW or any other game.
Take a step outside Markoraos, take a deep breath, does that not feel better?
Urgh, i can't think of a more boring read...
"Today i made a character - my gf was pissed" "Today i killed some wolves - my gf was pissed" "Today i flew to Orgrimmar... and then flew back to Tauren Mill - my gf was pissed".
From the topic title i was expecting some kind of comparison of how it was first time round and then how it is now...
I play with my fella and i tend to decide what our plan of action is but that is more because he is lazy than anything. No way would i decide what char he could have - give her a slap and tell her to shaddafackup.
Ceejays blog was ok. Long, and dull. Even some parts I was like "wtf?" Like some of the 'wife' made me. DO what you want. I got a girl of 4 years and I'll make a Female bloodelf if I want and I have.
Anywho. I do think this blog by the actual MMO dev. was cool though. Bloging about a blog that was decent. It's just neat to see that we sort of have a connection and have a voice here at mmorpg.com. Cool stuff.

Boring article...jeez
I'm getting so tired of the spam that is WoW articles. Can someone write about a different game please?
I played WoW for quite a while. It was magical at first, but eventually it just turned into a grind-fest/loot-whoring game.
It peaked before BC. It's just going downhill now. I've got my money on WAR, or at least LOTRO as the new dominant force in the MMO world.

Naw I don't think blizzard is worried. I must say that other then the great games of the past that I lost my virginity on wow was the pinnacle of gaming for me. And that's the problem. Once you finally get bored of it you try to find a replacement and there isn't one. Going back to other genres I used to love like online fps or singleplayer rpg works for a minute but it isn't the same now and there certainly isn't another mmo worth spending much time in. So my two choices are becoming a wow robot with my friends who are still stuck there or just do something else with most of my time with the occasional MP FPS night. One of these days blizzard will smack us with their next thing or by some miracle another company pull something off. Someone play me a violin please.
Blogs aren't news, they are web logs from people that like to type and put more crap on the internet.

Speaking of new characters....has anyone got a link to the guy who started over from scratch and decided to level his avatar fully unequiped? I Guess the best class is mage for that endeavor.
The Video I seen was on GTV4 or something like it. I never got a followup from that to see if he made it, not that I care or anything.
Not sure why this is "news" but I read it anyways...
Personally what I did in WoW was leave horde and go alliance on another server. That way I was not only restarting from scratch, but experiencing content that I had previously only rode by. Kept me playing a bit longer til I came to my senses and went back to Horde.
