Well looks like the rumors turned out correct about the Starwars MMORPG Bioware is making.  I hated SWG and loved KOTOR so hopefully this new mmo will kick some serious ass.

It is now hard not to believe a new Star Wars MMO is coming for all of us that were raped by SWG.  I for one am very excited and hope that we have a great new game to call home.

so it's not just me then! they are making a game, ok! but what type of game i can't work out where all the excitement is coming from. I may have missed something. Is it star wars? is it even a mmo?

Not that I'm one to kill the mood, but where on earth does it say KOTOR?

  • SlangerSlanger Member UncommonPosts: 280

Although it does not say "KOTOR Online", my question is where are all the people who, time and time again said "Bioware will never work with Lucas Arts again!" Also for those still doubting it, please tell me what other game does Bioware currently have in development that has been linked to Lucas Arts?

I would love to see someone at LucasArts or Bioware come out and say 'KOTOR Online' or even KOTOR III.

With upcoming television shows/mini series and all of that, Star Wars will receive another media boost.  If you look at Galaxies... the movies helped push expansions. They rode the wave of hype from prequel to prequel.

Hopefully, this will be the SW experience we've all been waiting for.

If this is a Star Wars project... let's hope for the best.  And let's pray SOE doesn't come anywhere near it.

Don't mean to rain on any parades, but did anyone read the bottom?

"Since 1995, BioWare has created some of the world's best-selling titles including the award-winning Baldur's Gate™ and Neverwinter Nights™ series, as well as the 2003 Game of the Year, Star Wars®: Knights of the Old Republic™. Original BioWare-created IPs include the 2005 RPG of the Year, Jade Empire™, with next-generation titles Mass Effect™ and Dragon Age™ currently in development."

Sorry.. first I"ve heard of Dragon Age.  Is this the MMO?

Also, wouldn't this deal have been struck 3 years ago if it was the MMO/Kotor Online? It may be KOTOR 3, but I don't see how this links up with the MMO timeline you were all clinging to...

Well I was always a nay sayer due to the fact that Bioware stated previously that they had no intention of working with LA again. Also they stated that their new MMO was not a Star Wars MMO nor linked to any well know IP.

However it seems that Bioware may have been blowing smoke up my backside, actually it seems that they certainly were. Not that I don't want a good KOTOR MMO from Bioware, just that they said they weren't going to work with LA again for a while. Maybe they were just trying to get more cash out of LA when they stated they weren't working with them again.

    Hmm

Bioware, and Lucas arts confirmed on Lucas arts site.

Space MMO with creator of KOTOR confirmed on Biowares site.

    Personally I can't wait

If this isn't KOTOR Online I officially reserve the right to call these 2 companies the dumbest ever.

You would have to be retarded NOT to make KOTOR online

Any Bioware MMO will be more groundbreaking then any MMO released recently.  Especially more ground breaking then WoW which was a rehash of every MMO before it.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Nope....Dragon age is a Bioware IP which it's making a Single Player Game with....

I repeat my question though.. what is this "Dragon Age" mentioned at the bottom of the LucasArts press release?  Isn't that much more likely to be the secret MMO?  or is this something else that I just haven't heard of?

    *sigh*

Lets take the blinders off for a moment.  LA  is just as culpable as SOE over the CU-NGE, as with a lot of IP partnerships, the owner of the IP has the final say of what goes into the game.  So what that boils down to is LA giving the green light to, or even orchestrating, the whole CU-NGE debacle.  There is nothing stopping them from doing it again with any new Star Wars mmorpg.

    Oh =P nevermind.

I guess my secret loathing of Star Wars has been revealed.  Sure, the original movies were good.. but they were a fluke.  Lucas revealed what an awful director he really is when he released the prequels, which were so bad I didn't even see the third one.  I can't stand by works that have been ruined so completely by a director.

I was hopeful for a non-star wars IP, personally.  I think it's.. well, not very creative and really quite lame.  I suspect Mass Effect has a better backstory.  Oh well, there are always other MMO's out there.

Well, if they put out a Star Wars MMO that was less than half-baked, that would certainly break ground that the current one hasn't.
