So my friend started playing ddo a few weeks ago and I just got the trial yesterday and started playing with him. Not so sure if I like it yet, but hey i got 9 more days to find out. I been reading up on the game for the last few hours at work and am pretty divided on what i've heard. What I'm wondering about is the end game ? After you get up in levels or hit the cap at lvl 14 what do you do ? are there epic raids / quests? Or do people just roll a new toon after that....
I don't like to start over and over in a game and if i get to lvl 14 and there's no more progression I don't see the point.
Thanks in advance!

Next level cap raise is in 4-6 weeks or so, but yes, there's also a 14th and 15th level raid currently and MANY quests and adventure areas in that level range as well. No where really near "end game" yet, as the level progression will continue every 4-6 months or so and many features coming like housing and crafting still.
You will most likely have fun for your trial and your first Stormcleave run will be a blast.
I would caution you to try and not group up with twinked out toons that just want to zerg their way through low level quests. I've been in some PUGs where people were just interested in the XP and next level and it really ruined the fun that some new players (read: Waterworks and Shan-to-Kor) may have had.
There are quite a few raids that are fun. Vault of Night 1-4 (VONs 1-4) leading to your first dragon run will be fun. Tempest Spine. Hiding in Plain Sight will have you taking a second look at all those low-level quests you did.
However, you will eventually run into the content wall. If you haven't grinded out your 1750 favor for a 32 point build already (not as hard as when it was first released), you will either do that or eventually reroll a new toon.
I left the game a month or two after the Giant Hold release. After the zergfest that was Prison of the Planes (PoP) and all the overpowered weapons that were dropped with that release, coupled with Turbine killing XP debt, free XP debt removal, multiple use shrines, etc.--I found the game going in a direction that I just didn't like...sort of like playing Soup Kitchen Online, but with dragons.
In the end, fun for some time. Depends on how you handle the content wall when you hit it. Being in a good guild will help.
