You know, it's funny you say that, because the general impression from the players I saw in Tabula Rasa pre-order so far is that the game has substantially improved over the past few weeks to the point where it was really quite enjoyable. It got the point where somebody specifically broadcast: "Tabula Rasa, the one game where the miracle patch works."
There's still a few glitches here and there, mostly in the way it handles mission distribution between members of a team in instances, but I'm having a blast.

I have heard this sales pitch before, in that thrilling epic "Auto Assault".
Turns out a horde of beta testers a market does not make.
Well, I think they have made server side changes also, that aside what do you think need immediate fixing in TR client or content side as of right now? Currently I think TR is one of the most stable releases I've been in in a long time, with plenty of content to do in the level range people are now and will be in the coming month or so. So I don't think a 'mircale patch' is necessary even.
I was playing yesterday evening and the EU server was High, and almost all instances in Wilderness was Medium-High in population (as expected in the beginning). Some where reporting bad lag, but I was on 100-200ms in sweden, in both Medium and High zones (some more lag in the High zones, but easy enough to switch instance).
Im a bit worried that the EU server is maxing out at Pre-release headstart allready, but my guess is that some may drop off when the free month is over, but then again more peeps might drop in with release versions so we will see how that turns out.

Well, if you were expecting somebody who was clueless about these things, prepare to be disappointed. I've played Auto Assault. I've also played Earth and Beyond and Asheron's Call 2. Three games that went the day of the dodo. I was in all three of those game's betas as well. I can say with confidence that Tabula Rasa is a different story.
The trouble with AA, E&B, and AC2 was that the games largely didn't 'click', they lacked some fundamental aspect of gameplay. In my experience, the score went something like this:
With AA, it was just monotonous action of very little significance, further pushed by giving players no reason or means to conveniently play together.
With Earth and Beyond, they tried to do EverQuest in space, and that didn't work because everybody was pretty much bored of EverQuest.
With Asheron's Call 2, the balance was badly fudged to the point where you had to grind for weeks to get the abilities you want and every abilitity in the game was so weak that you had a hard time telling if it made any difference over your auto-attack.
There were a few players who could get into these games -- there always are. However, the vast majority reached the end of beta feeling downright bored and depressed. These games were not worth a monthly subscription fee - they lacked that fundamental drive to continue playing for months. They felt incomplete, insignificant, going through the motions without having any real idea how to succeed. I didn't see that some kind of depression at the end of Tabula Rasa's beta - why do you suppose that is?
Tabula Rasa is a game that was revisioned from the ground up, because they realized a better focus, and so you know they've put together their game plan. They have some features that are actually significant enough to pay a monthly subscription fee for. Unlike AA, players do play together and the actions carry significance. Unlike Earth and Beyond, this is no EverQuest clone trying to redress itself. Unlike Asheron's Call 2, the gameplay mechanics allow the players to feel satisfiably involved.
The MMORPG field is one filled with many lemons, and World of Warcraft is sucking up the casual playerbase like some kind of overzealous leech. So maybe Tabula Rasa simply won't catch on. Maybe it will fail because the players simply didn't make the time for it. But I don't think it'll be a fault of the game - it's pretty damn solid and promising. That's why I've been going out of my way to point these things out, I'd hate to see the fate of lemons happen to an actual worthwhile game.

I would use those exact same words to describe Tabula Rasa.
Monotonous combat, by level 25 I could not find any reason to log in because I was doing the exact same quests and shooting the exact same mobs as I had at level 9.
No reason, at all, to group unless you can't live without doing an instance you are too weak for.
As many have said, Tabula Rasa is just like Auto Assault without cars.
I was bored to tears by level 15 and forced myself to 25 just to make sure I wasn't missing something.
This is the perfect game for people with very short attention spans who can't play a FPS game without autoaim.
If you like your games to have a story a 7th grader could write, have simplistic and repetitive gameplay, want a pokemon collect em all for nothing (logos) objective and you love to do fedex quests then Tabula Rasa has it all.
I did see the similarity between Tabula Rasa and Auto Assault in that they're both action games and those are hard to keep interesting for an extended period. However, while it's a subtle difference, I think that Tabula Rasa isn't as much dependant on the action as Auto Assault is. Tabula Rasa has more of the aspect that appeals about MMORPGs - the grind-appeal, I guess you could say.

If you're capable of moving your character around without getting stuck in a ditch where you need to spend 5 mins trying to drive out of it, then I would say TR has a better chance than AA had.

So....Did you read the quests text while doing them? Have you tried to defend or capture a Control Point with other players? Have you done the Eloh temple istance? etc etc
Eloth temples istances was some of the most fun istances i have done in MMORPGs so far, it was a very original experience - and challenging aswell.
I think that i know what you've done....Farming to the lvl 25 like in all other mmorpgs. I found Tabula Rasa to be one of the most fun experiences i had in a long time (and i played a lot of MMORPG).
Im a Biotechnician lvl 20 now in retail pre-order phase, and the healing/repair system via tools is just awesome . I played various istances with some people and it was allways a fresh experience and never got bored
The only people stating that this game needed a miracle patch are the ones who wouldn;t be playing a month down the line regardless of any patches or changes.
The game rocks as it is, I have beta tested a lot of mmorpgs and have been playing them since the genre was born and this game of all of them is the one that needed a "mircale patch" the least!

Bro, the story is sickeningly simplistic and full of plot holes.
Reading the quests, after the first few, was an insult to my intelligence.
And no, I didn't "farm" (grind is what you really mean) to level 25, I explored and did all the quests and instances up to that level.
Frankly, it was amazingly repetitive and there was really no reason to group with anyone.
After the 7/24 patch I avoided other players because of kill stealing and rampant whining about kill stealing.
Why group when I could do the instances by myself and get all the XP and loot without having to share it with strangers ?
The gameplay consists of: hold down W to move forward, hold down left mouse to kill enemies, maybe press Space once in a while to jump around and pretend it had an effect, duck behind cover that enemies could shoot through, throw in a logo ability once in a while when I remembered to use them, wash-rinse-repeat ad infinitum...
Which wouldn't be so terrible if there was an end game to work toward, instead they freaked out in beta when people started asking "where is the end game" and so they made human vs human PvP the goal of the game which runs totally contrary to the oh so awesome storyline and will be a pain to participate in because of the instancing.
I can imagine in two to three months the smacktards running from zone to zone and switching between instances over and over trying to find likeminded smacktards to PvP with.
Boy will that be fun !!!
This game is short term fun for people that are unable to play an FPS without autoaim or aimbot, it's a console style single player game that you have to pay a monthly fee for.

Dont worry man, ive seen all your post around this board. You keep bashing this game, its like you are obsessed
The line i quoted says everything, go back to play other generic MMOs - for the phat lewt and the exp.
Oh, btw: the istances difficult adjust to the number of players, that means its more fun - more exp and more loots. It seems that you dont know the basic features.

I think you didnt really play the game at this point...
You have to switch the weapons during the fights, you need to plan attacks and you should use a lot of tools (repair, heal, decode, EMP bombs etc).
You described the tutorial of the game, did you even play further? (yea sure, you was high lvl etc etc...)
p.s.: im not a native english speaker so forget the grammar

What are you Geldonyetich.... a 2 serious-fanboi or a GM or something.. i never seen someone be so over positive about a basic game that still shocks me to have a montly fee. the game is fun, no doubt.. but no were near the level u support it at

i wouldnt say new.. there are a nice sized group or military neo-tech game, kourse each brings its own unique twist. If you're more into the the RPG aspect with crafting and a great market and crafting system with a double hand full of vechiles then I'd say NeoCron... if you're more into the shoot'em up game play and larg scale wars with mechs, tanks and combat ships then I would suggest PlanetSide... if your new to the whole thing then TB is kool.. still dont think its worth the money, everything everyone has mentioned so far as still be run in guns blazing, rather its taking a control point or running a quest
I dont disagree that its not fun but for its price, it kould be a whole lot funner.. i mean way way funner. At is current state is more of a shame then a game.. if you're not use to this type of game, then I doubt u kan tell. but playing a few Pay 2 Play game i kan tell u its lacking.. majorly.

Actually I'd say he's being fairly objective about it, and he's giving rational arguments for his opinions....in contrast to people like the OP.

I dont know... I've seen people that support the game.. he talks like a sells rep, his comments are more commercialized... kinda ruines his credibility.
Haha.. a lighter version of a car sellsman trying to sell u a lemon. Though TB doesnt drive like a used kar drives more like a new test car. which is good. it maybe worth the price one day
this isnt counting people that kan go spend money on a gold watch, walk outside, drop it down the drain and keep walking saying i'll get a new one later.. not everyone is THAT rich. Till this game adds better content.. ill still say its not worth its current price and IF it says in its current state, general speaking then im pretty sure it'll go free 2 play.. its a very good free 2 play game.. basic grind, yes, but different enuff to build a quick casual player pop and even some of the hardcorers.
Some of the quest are interesting, most are just walk here and walk back, collect 10 of these items or kill 5 of these mobs.. and return, nothing I would say that you'd just find mind blowing.
But I have to say.. if you like co-op like single player shoot-tech game play. you pretty much got the right game. even if you play alone, there's enough NPC fighting along side you to feel like you're not alone

Having been in a bunch of betas.... Including that long running pay-to-play beta SWG.... I agree with what you say.
Wth one small exception. The people who cry so hard that TR is so bad WOULD play if it were FREE TO PLAY!
But they would play with the same scathing criticism and continual threats on the forums that they would LEAVE if the game isn't changed to suit them!
Drop into a free to play game sometime and you will find a sizeable percentage of people who woud PAY to be rid of them!
TR is far superior to any F2P game Ihave sampled... And I've sampled quite a few in boredom the past few years.
Exactly! A lot of people will trash a game just because they want it to be F2P or they cannot afford a computer that will run the new games without glitches. Sad but true.
It is getting more and more difficult to troll forums for informative posts regarding a game. The F2P army is out in force now days.

some of us are more than capable of paying the subscription AND buying a machine that will run every game that will be released over the next two years easily
BUT we are NOT willing to support unfinished products that appear to be relying on the charity of their intended audience and its willingness to support them through what is essentially a pay-to-beta stage of the games development.
Either release a finished product or don't release at all, but do not expect everyone to buy into the hype, propaganda, and other marketing bullshit. The audience is a bit more sophisticated these days (fanboiz excepted - they'll buy anything)

I maintain 3 monthly MMO subscriptions. I prefer pay to play games because they are generally of a better quality overall and the flow of new content is almost always better. However, I am not willing to pay a monthly fee for just anything. This game should be free to play.... because it isn't worth a monthly fee.
I was hoping to hear some good news on this one.... I certainly wouldn't pay a monthly fee, or even the cost to buy the box for the game i saw in late beta. It is buggy, chuggy and really just pretty boring. I guess it could have possibly been fun if it didn't have so many performance issues... and had a little variety of content, meaning full itemization, worthwhile crafting, something other than FedEx quests, vehicles maybe.... really this game just lacks overall.
Playing late in the beta was a lot like the late days of the vanguard beta... people see a lot of potential, but it seems about a year away from being ready for public consumption.
Any guesses on how long it will be before the game goes F2P? How about the length of time before a big personnel shake-up? How long before the game is canceled? Will NCsoft ahead and launch Garriot (aka admiral crunch) in to space and leave him there, so he cant waste any more of their money?

Monotonous combat, by level 25 I could not find any reason to log in because I was doing the exact same quests and shooting the exact same mobs as I had at level 9.
No reason, at all, to group unless you can't live without doing an instance you are too weak for.
As many have said, Tabula Rasa is just like Auto Assault without cars.
I was bored to tears by level 15 and forced myself to 25 just to make sure I wasn't missing something.

They might do what VG did, so sad for this game.

At is current state is more of a shame then a game.. if you're not use to this type of game, then I doubt u kan tell. but playing a few Pay 2 Play game i kan tell u its lacking.. majorly.
Games I've Played: SilkRoad, Flyff, NeoCron, PlanetSide, Rapplez, UpshiftRacer, Drift City, TB, Kwonho, ArchLord, AoA, Exteel, WolfTeam, Shaiyan, WoKF, FFXIV, STO, KoTR, ESO, Defiance, Mabinogi
Games I'm Playing: Warframe/STO
Games I'm Pondering: The Secret World
