I'm going to be that annoying dick that goes with the inevitable Jedi. I gotta be a Jedi. Thats my thing, I don't like guns, I like melee and magic powers. Also, I hope they include a good selection of playable races, because I don't want to have to be a human in a Star Wars mmo.
Being that the KOTOR games have been about the knights of the old republic I would prefer to see it be about Jedi. Star Wars seems to be lacking a bit without them as the main drive of the game. Without them it's just another Sci-Fi. It would be great if they could further break them up into more classes then in NOTOR. You might even have neutral classes.
Ill do a list.
- It must be set away from the Movies in say -5,000 years in the past for example like the KOTOR games.
-Trully massive areas like in Dark Forces 2 game as in buildings you can go around and in around severall KM in height and width. Hence SCALE in scenery is important.
- Exelent classic Star Wars music Dark Forces Music and KOTOR music to stir the mood.
- Make most world a bit imperfect rusty in need of repear etc.
- If there must be playable jedis make them very hard to get and limit the number of them from both dark and light side [have it at say a ratio of 1/100] that way there wont be 100's of them.
- Have multiple planets say 2 t begine with with themes i.e. a city planet, Rocky world,Volcanic,Darkside planet etc.
- Have a series of buyable Books that you buy and are transcibed in your inventory say a few pages giving background info to promote background story.
- Have these storys not just about the main story plot but other things like the history of a particular planet in severall books or the biogeraphy of a Mega corp for example to the story behind a particular droid type.
- Upgradable wepons.
- Droid Pets.
- Swoop races.
- Other fun stuff to do that dont involve PvP or PvE.
- Something similar to ship combat you get in Jump to lightspeed.
- More variety of ships tho.
- have asteroid mining.
- have gas cloud scooping [for free fuel or to sell on but make it risky in some way].
- Have cargo hauling between planets moons and stations as part of a NPC trading market including normal player gear. Basically making trading a valid profession and space or cargo ahngar pitracy the flipside to that profesion.
- Have a black market with alternate docking ports for illegal good on world wth hut influence and mods to make it easier to get illegal cargo ast customs.
- Make customs Bribable.
- i could go on i guess but this should do to begine with.

That part in red won't happen. If Bioware makes a Star Wars game it will be a KoToR timeline game and if they do that it will have tons of Jedi. Everyone will have the ability to make a Jedi. That was one of the worst things that SWG did when it first came out. It was a stupid idea to limit a person's chance to make a Jedi character.
Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)
So what would be so special about being a jedi then if everyone could be one?

Who says it needs to be a special thing? I just want to be one.
No, the worst thing they did was make Jedi's a playable race period. This was the beginning of the end IMO, with the CU being the end.
The worst thing was probably that the devs tried to make SWG a sandbox when it has always been more of a linear story driven saga that has Jedi vs Sith and making the game in a time when there were very few Jedi. It seems it's an all or nothing thing to have or not have Jedi. Some classes may be able to stand up to a Jedi or Sith, but generally only large numbers. It's better to just have everyone be a Jedi or Sith as we can all have fun being one in the Star Wars Universe. I'm willing to bet there are more people interested in playing a Jedi or Sith then all the other classes combined together.
If they want to make Jedi playable from the beginning that's fine as long as Jedi are not an alpha class. I think if they want jedi to be more powerful then you should have to work extremely hard to become a Knight or a dark jedi would have to work hard to become a sith.
Jedi was not the down fall of SWG that would be called the NGE. But the way that players became jedi did effect the game negatively. The holo grind had players changing professions daily. Your favorite smuggler would be a dancer in a week and so on. The village brought bols to the brink of extinction.
If there is going to be jedi, and there will, they should either be a starter class or unlocked through how you play not by how many professions you grind.
I don't claim to be right, I'm just posting.
KOTOR game play is kinda based on the fact that it doesn't need to be balanced at all.
so even if it is a KOTOR game it will not be the same, and you will only get slight feelings of it being the same for the sake of balance.
I personally think that bioware would utterly fail at ever being able to MMO'itize KOTOR.
and they will deffinatly fail to make the game that everyone is expecting. I mean look at their games, they have decent story telling and good designers that work around the story. they don't have a sandbox game out which is what everyone is expecting.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I think saying they would fail is a liottle premature.
Afterall, we just have to look at WOW's source material to realise that the game won't play in anyway like KOTOR but rather utilise its lore and maybe some of the ideas.

I would really like to see several classes of Jedi, if the game is going to be more Jedi-centered one should be able to play the many different types of Jedi that are out there. Not all of the Jedi are lightsaber swinging Martial artists.
- Medical Jedi (Healer Class)
- Melee Jedi (DPS Class)
- Force Focused Jedi (Mage Class)
As well as non-Jedi classes that allow to capture the richness of all of the Star Wars universe, including classes that do not focus on combat. That way even though you'll see many jedi, they won't all be exactly the same. It was one my biggest peeves in NGE-SWG, not just that there were dozens of Jedi everywere in a time-period there shouldn't be any. But that all jedi basically had the same "weapons" progression and same function in the game.
Jedi use several different styles of melee combat, each of which is suited for different things. It would be nice to see this reflected in the game.
