Computer won't turn on?

Okay. So. I've been having this problem on and off for the last little while. A couple of weeks ago, I hit the power button and nothing happened. Nothing at all. I took it into the kitchen, took the computer apart, checked all the wirings, tried again, and it was fine. Then it happened again last week. This time, it wasn't so easy. I tried and tried for a couple of days and nothing worked. I took it to the kitchen table again, rewired everything, and it decided to work. I figured something just might be loose in the power supply, or wires touching stuff they shouldn't, something like that.... Now tonight, I hit the power button, and it turns on...fans are spinning, DVD drive and fan controller are powered...but nothing other than that. No video, no POST...just nothing. Also, for the last couple of weeks or so, I've had problems restarting my computer. I click restart...and it sort of turns off...but then it doesn't really turn back on. Things keep spinning, but no POST and it just sits there. Same thing with shutdowns. Luckily, I just finished backing things up to DVDs because I was planning on reinstalling Vista. I'm thinking it's a motherboard problem and that I should look into getting a new one, I'd just like to get some feedback from you guys first.

Well, my friend and I narrowed it down to it being the motherboard. The ONE thing I have left to try is to do the whole jumper thing and reset the motherboard, other than that...nothing. If I can RMA it and get a new one just like it, I'll do that, but the chances seem slim (it's socket 939, after all). May be buying a new mobo/cpu/memory :P

My guess would also be the mother board.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
