" So if you proc ( bacon fist, skull whisper-- some ability or power) your DOT will far exceed DPS while increasing your pip."
"Pay attention to your pips." etc.
I have seen this acronym or term "pip" used and have no idea what it means or stands for in relation to mmos.
I would appreciate any enlightenment.

do you see this in Guild Wars?
its not an acronym, if its what Im thinking its markers (bars, arrows) that show the rise and fall of your health and energy
"If you want a picture of the future, imagine a robot foot stomping on a human face -- forever."
A pip is one cycle of time. Usually describing regeneration of health or mana, but can be used for just about anything.
Say you regenerate health every 10 seconds. Well the pip would be the 10 second cycle.
And if you look it up in urbandictionary you will find a lot of other interesting uses of the word.
I've always heard this measurement of time referred to as a 'tick'. To each his own, though.
As long as the people you're talking with understand what you're talking about, it all works.

Is there a particular game you're refering to or maybe give another example of its usage. A DOT exceeding DPS doesn't make much sense to me, regardless of what PIP means.

I can't figure what he means by "pip" myself, but the DPS/DOT part I could figure out, even if it wasn't very well expressed. By "DPS" he means the damage your regular attack does, divided by the delay timer in that regular attack. He means just the DPS of your regular attack. By having special bonuses proc, doing more damage or imposing a status on the opponent that does damage per tick as long as it lasts, you increase your total DOT over the DPS of just your regular attack.

That's making an assumption I don't think he meant. DPS can refer to any damage being dealt. The DOT itself has a DPS. The acronyms didn't confuse me, it was the usage. DPS is just an average that can be applied to any attack that is periodic, so saying that the Damage Over Time far exceeds Damage Per Second doesn't make sense.
EDIT: Regardless, giving a particular game and context would help.
