Ok, decided to give this game another try since they released the Episode 2 expansion. Oh, speaking of expansion, do not try to patch through the client. It's a nightmare. Go to Filefront and DL the standalone patch. Anyway.

Lots more people now, especially on the Lumen server. That was one of my biggest gripes about this game in the beginning was the lack of community. The game seems more alive now, which helps because this game is still nothing but uber-grindage, and having someone to chat with passes that along nicely.

Think they might have cranked the graphics up a notch or something, because this game looks so much more sharper now. Not so blurry or dreamlike. And yes, I had (and have) my GFX settings maxed out.

Well that's about it for my initial re-try of this game. Seriously thinking of giving some serious effort to playing it now, so maybe there will be more from me on it in the future.

Didn't they have an engine overhaul?

There's so many people now that sometimes I wish there were less

No seriously... there's like 4 to 5 people at every major grinding spot. Still an awesome game though nonetheless.

After a few more hours with RF Online Ep. 2...

Ok, for those of you expecting a completely new experience with this game (and I'm talking to the people who might of played this game previous to Ep. 2), I should tell you that you'll be somewhat disappointed. The game is still all about the grind. Grind grind grind those PTs to max level in a mad dash to your next class promotion and the ability to participate in the much vaunted Chip Wars. And selling drops, talics, and such at ridiculously high prices. So, more of the same in that respect.

However, as mentioned earlier, the influx of new players since this game's move to F2P has breathed new life into the old routine. People talk now: they hawk goods, they chti-chat with friends, and the higher levels are much more helpful than my previous experience with this game. And all of this leads me to my next point.

Partying with others is a blast in this game.

I partied with a group last night to knock out some quests, and the experience was awesome. My small group consisting of a Bellato warrior, spiritualist, and ranger (that's me!) worked so well together. And given the sci-fi slant of this game, it all really felt like a throwback to my old PSO days (Phantasy Star Online, for those too young to know or those who don't recall). It was really fun. And I got a couple of friends on my buddy list now. So that aspect of the game has got me really psyched about devoting time to it now. I can't wait to hit lvl 21 and be able to hit the Battle Dungeons!

Anyway, that's all for now. I've prattled on enough. More later.

I have played this game on a private server (because i discovered that Shirow is the one that has made art for the game - the creator of Ghost in The Shell manga) but it was preaty boring. I got to lvl 30 and stopped playing. Then I noticed like a week ago that the game has gotten free. A friend of me was also interested in playing it so we downloaded the game and started playing it.

I was amazed. There was really a lot of newbie characters and all in all the citys were all full, there were times where it was hard to kill mobs for quest because there were so many people killing them as well.

Now I currently have a lvl 33 Accretia Scout (gringing PT and getting killed by turncoats so that I don't lvl) and a lvl 21 Bellato Specialist. I hardly play the bellato cause I've gotten a really good and friendly guild called Syndicate on the Novus server.

I've been playing it for a little more than a week and I love it. Sometimes the PT grinding gets boring. But I always have people to have fun with in the game and so on and on.

I suggest the game to anyone that doesn't mind a little grinding. (It is not as extreme as Lineage II) Actually I find the leveling and PTing quite easy.

Even if you don't like grinding, give it a try, it can't hurt cause the game is free. If anyone decides to play an Accretia on Novus server, feel free to PM me ("Seirei") and I will help you with the basics and if you will be interested, help you with the game overall.

    Enjoy.

You're not afraid of the dark, are you?

The influx of new players is indeed what makes this game really fun now, but on the same note, is what also makes it kind of annoying. Killing mobs for quests is a chore at times because of all the other people killing them as well. And to those of you who just started: if you camp an area to grind mobs for a quest, you need to either A) join a party (the XP is better for you that way) or B) announce upon entering the zone that you are NOT a bot. I got PKed last night by this dude who was helping out a lowbie because he said something to me and I didn't respond. I simply wasn't paying attention to the chat window, and got whacked because of it.

People in this game have really taken it upon themselves to police for bots, some more zealously than others. It goes to show that they love the game, and don't want it overran in record time by bots and farmers. I think that's awesome.

So party up, socialize, and have fun. Being antisocial will decrease your fun, your XP, and quite possibly get your ass killed.

They're starting up another new server this week. That should be a fun time if you don't mind the masses of players doing the newbie quests.

Yeah there has been such a huge influx of players, that they had to open a third one. I play on Novus and its always packed. Sometimes, at high traffic times it takes a few tries to get in. Even while playing in the wee hours of the morning, there is still plenty of people to party with. Its like a whole new game since the graphics upgrade and the axed sub fee.
