Guy arrested at NC State for .. crimes against nature

ABC11 reports: "Details of the incident were released in a search warrant. There was an off-campus party last Friday at the apartment of one of the tennis team members. The player told police he went to bed around 3 a.m. Saturday and was awakened two hours later by Bivens performing oral sex on him. Police arrested and served Bivens with the search warrant that allowed investigators get a saliva sample. He was released on bond that same day. None of the tennis team members or the coach will comment on the incident though they know about the charges against Bivens."



The NC State athletic department says the player's status with the team has not changed.

    Crimes against nature? Is that a real legal term? How about sexual assault, that sounds like a real charge. What the hell is a crime against nature in NC? Is there an actual legal definition on the books there?

    I  think its more to do with the Bible personally, than the real law.

    Actually its real law.. and it has nothing to do with sexual orientation

    I think its some bull that this guy isn't getting pegged for rape though... I'm sure if a girl woke up with a guy sucking her out that He would be in jail for years.. PLUS have the sex offender tag for the rest of his life

    Crimes against nature makes it sound like he attacked a ficus.

    But of course they really mean fellatio, male on male too, seems that they are more offended by the fact that it was a guy more than the fact the it was an unwanted sexual act.

    Sexual assault seems to be a much more appropriate charge, sense that is what it was.  Like Methane said if it had been a guy doing it to a girl it would be rape.  If it were a girl doing it to a guy, then I don't think anything could come of it, no pun intended, in fact the guy would be considered gay if he did try to file a charge.

    That's one of those ridiculously vague laws that can be applied when you want it to be. I would imagine that a good lawyer could tear it shreds in court as many such things can be found in nature...and of course human behaviour could be said to be no less part of nature than animal behaviour.

    I suspect Mr-Bubbles is right that it probably comes from Paul's letter to the Romans 1:26-27 which was translated as "against nature" and is actually just as vague as to what it refers to. Strictly speaking, it's a bad translation (para physin) and would not have been referring to the concept of laws of nature, but rather meaning "away from convention" or "against the grain" (Paul uses the same expression to refer to men having long hair and for God accepting gentiles into His family).

    I'd agree with others here - "sexual assault" would have made more sense. Sounds to me like the "against nature" law is way overdue in being taken off the books.

    I agree. I also find it amusing that he still has all his teeth and his nose in the proper position. If I woke up to find a dude bobbin' on my knob..........................

    Edit: Ya know, lookin' at his pic there, he does have a serious case of CSL.
