Looking for a small, casual mmorpg

kolekkolek Member Posts: 118

Ok, I've played a bunch of big MMOs like EQ2, Guild Wars, etc and every time I start to play a game like that it's only a matter if a week or so that I get tired of it.  I think the problem is that they are so big that they become overwhelming and I can't get anywhere in the game because I only like to play an hour or so a day.  So I'm looking for a small, simple, and casual game that I can just pick up whenever I want to and play for a little bit and still enjoy the time I just spent.

Thanks

im looking forthe same thing, a very casual mmorpg especially that supports windowed and has some kinda of pvp (even if very limited).
that Ashen Empires looks sweet, exacly what i wanted. too bad that on top of the monthly fee (which i dont mind paying if its a good game) you also have to pay when you enter certain caves, etc and that is just too greedy for me.

any other game like that? i dont mind if it has a fee (but free would be better ofc :p)

for a f2p Perfect World would be great for casual play. you may be a little gimped for gold, but it's playable. the quests give a lot ( a VERY lot) of xp and it's easy to gain a few levels per play session (low to mid level) and none (that i saw) are horribly chained 2 hour fedex quests.

i'm not sure the the international servers are up yet, but do a little diggin', and see if it's something that interests you.

You could always try a game like Arch Lord, its free so there will never be that feeling that you wasted your money if you dont play enough. There is PvP in the game as well. It reminds me a little bit of Guild Wars without the instancing. The quests are easy for the most part and leveling is a breeze. It's a little too easy for me, but for a more casual gamer I could see it being a lot of fun.

I would also recommend GW but since you have already played it I guess that would be pointless.

Im not too sure about any Planetside as I tend to stick to the original fantasy based games. I'd rather slay dragons, orcs, and goblins

Or maybe, you can try Dungeon Runners.

It's a game very simple, you have dungeons and towns (places where you meet other players)

The fun you get each time you play it (ie, two hours per day) is high.

Of course, the game is the same at each lvl (and raising your lvl is quite hard) so you get the fun from the firsts lvls

Also, it has common features with diablo 2, the interface is quite similar and the maps of the dungeons are random.

Finally, another thing you can find in the game is the sense of humour of the npcs. This game is a parody of other similar games (ie, Lineage or Wow clones)

PS: Personally, if you use this game to get entertainment until another good mmorpg arrives, maybe you can consider to pay for to have a membership account. It has some advantages like stackable potions, a bank, npcs who change your King Coins for Yellow Equipment, and the most important thing, you can wear all the equipment in the game, not just the white, green and blue equipment (the three lowest lvls of equipment)

Dungeon Runners is exactly the kind of game I was looking for; thanks!

I second Dungeon Runners for this particular request!

Dungeon Runners is a perfect time-wasting, in-between-games type of game.  It's free to download and free to play.  There's a cheap ($5/month) subscription if you like it enough and want the etxtra goodies, but the goodies aren't required, especially if you're a casual player.  It looks WoWish, play's Diablo-ish (straight up dungeon running and hack-n-slashing) and has a wicked sense of humor.  It's VERY casual gamer friendly!

    Check it out at dungeonrunners.com.
