IP's I'm suprised haven't been turned into MMOPRG's - yet.

I dunno, but it really surprises me that IP's such as Pokemon, Digimon, Harry Potter, and Yui Gi Oh haven't been turned into MMORPG's yet.   All ofthese could be turned into decent MMO's.   Weird huh.

the best MMO that hasn't been made yet:  Robotech.   The universe is so huge...the invid...think of it

Pokemon - it's Nintendo, they're just now getting a hang on this new fad called the "internet".

Digimon - Korean version already made

Harry Potter - was considered, probably dropped because the IP is too lean for a MMO in it's current state

YuGiOh - I could see a online lobby or something but not a MMO, getting attacked by some random person which takes you to a 5 minute long random card battle would get old in the first day

Well, Dragonball Online is coming out, so who knows what else will be announced in the next few years. Personally I think those four IPs would be really hard to turn into MMOs, especially Harry Potter.

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

I think the idea of Robotech is awesome, but if that was not to come out I would think the a Gundam series especially G Gundam or the first gundam series would make awesome MMOs as well.

They should make a Bloodbowl MMO...erm...sports sim.

Would be pretty cool...different teams each player controlled, maybe a cross between Madden and Speedball but ina  £d enviroment.

Transformers would make a cool MMO if they placed the action on their home world before it was destroyed.  It wouldn't really work on earth imo.

Transformers would definitely be cool. Also a harry potter MMO? Hmm that would be messed up now since they now have a gay character. What would that mean or how could it affect a harry potter MMO?

Firstly, there are no gay characters in Harry Potter...

Secondly, a character's sexual orientation wouldn't affect an MMO in any way...

I also believe that the average MMORPG player is somewhat older (approaching thier 30s). Those games, even the older ones as Pokemon, are still considered popular in the younger age groups. I doubt that a lot of current players would be attracted to those you listed.

Could you imagine the grind on Pokemon :)

I could picture a Harry Potter MMO, because it's actually a very interesting setting.  But, that one might fall into the category of being better off as an open-ended single player RPG.

Ravenloft I've mentioned several times as an MMO candidate, but I realized the same thing here, it's far to story driven for an MMO.  So, yet another one that would be better as some type of single player RPG.

Shadowrun:  still can't believe this isn't an MMO.  Actually, I'm surprised there hasn't been a big cyberpunk MMO at all, that I'm aware of.

Forgotten Realms, Warhammer 40k, Eye of the World, or Dragonlance. All I hope to see as MMOs before I die.

I'm sorry to be the first person to tell you this, but Dumbledore is gay.

    Look it up.

Um you may want to read this:

But I agree his sexual orientation should have no effect on the game.

Personally I think the two best IP that could be made into MMORPG's would be Eragon/ Eldest and the Wheel of Time series of books

Anne McCaffery's "Dragon Riders of Pern" Series would be a great setting for an mmorpg.

It's a matter of personal choice, and if someone wants to use drugs they can play the game if they want

Those are some Big IP's, but aimed mainly at children, and kids don't always pay the bills for an mmorpg.

I think that a Mordheim squad based MMO would be awesome.

  • mackdawg19mackdawg19 Member UncommonPosts: 842

If i remember correctly, Bioware/Pandemic owns the IP rights for a Harry Poter game. If i would pick a few solid names for an MMO, I'd go with Chronicles of Narnia or a Total War MMO. The total mmo could be an open sandbox, following along the lines of guildwars and recently deceased GnH, were you can get minions. And you could use the world as the map. And guilds could take over countrys. It could be an ultimate open world MMO because it has so many possibilites of what you could do.

Edit - re edited, got games mixed up :)
