I've been also following this game for quite some time. There's been several games that have extremely innovative ideas and then failed miserably when I log in to find out it's just like -every- other MMO out there. I'm so tired of all the cookie cutters. Almost every MMO is reminiscent of another. Instead of bringing new ideas to the table, cash cows seem to take precidence. The only game I wish more games would take the "best of "  from is UO. I think most would agree.

Either way, I'm way excited for this game and will continue playing freebie Korean MMO's (... yay.... ) until this is released. It takes a lot to get my money these days. :) It'll be great when TCoS gets released in the US.

I'm too busy to do lots of research and I'm just now noticing this game. Can someone please pretend they are selling me this game and give me the top 5 reasons(or features) why I would want to play it? TIA

I'm all for this game, but whoever designed their website needs to check their head. They have so many images loading per page its painful to navigate.

Thats because we over in europe all have true broadnand connections like 20 mbit, we are so spoiled that we keep  forgetting about the slow US ISP's.... Porblem is US ISP's don't have much bandwith to europe, because they beleive that US peopel only visit websites in the US.

Their website is beautifull in layout, but kind of slow when you have an old fashioned connection

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Must be the cheap providers that don't want to pay for overseas data traffic.

    Um....no.

It's poorly designed. It doesn't matter how fast your connection is, that doesn't excuse poor design.

And while some of the graphics are done very well, the design of the site is actually kind of lacking in my book. Poor overlaying and while the large graphics are done very well, the minor graphics like the article borders are pretty rough.

It's a shame this game isn't getting more attention. I guess it's because it's not  from the US or asia. Personally I think this game looks like about the only one that actually does offer something different than the carbon copy garbage MMO's that have and are due out soon.

I like some of the features like irc based chat and mail you can check in or out of the game. The combat system looks interesting and I like the concept of the gear stats being defines by add ons not the gear itself. This game actually seems to be trying to do things differently and it's nice to see because I'm really tired of games tying to repackage WoW and shovel it out to market in piss poor shape. This would be a good game to keep an eye on I know I'll be interested to know what the release date is.

I think this is the best a  man that names himself Skeptical has ever said about any game.

"Best MMO" is a point of view, depending on defenition and very very subjective... so why bother stating "This is the best!".. Close to trolling since there's bound to be plenty of people disagreeing. That's My opinion though.

Did you read this entire post?

Almost everyone seems to agree to the subject title...

It says this COULD possibly be the best...

I would not worry about Spellborn getting attention.  Word of mouth is a great thing and the most accurate representation of how good a game is.  This game wont be able to go unnoticed if it has even half of what it seems to have.  It will sweep through the MMORPG world like a wildfire the closer it gets to release and then moreso afterward.  We can all just sit back and relax and watch as the fire catches.  No need to annoyling draw attention to it.  Quality speaks for itself and cant be ignored.  I feel sorry for all the other developers out there honestly.  This is going to be like a tsunami hitting their player bases leaving ghost towns in many MMOs and possibly putting some in development out of business before they begin.  But thats of course if the things we've seen in the game come to fruition.

I still dont know how they could make the net code able to handle FPSMMORPG requirements.  But if they've cleared that seemingly insurmountable hurdle.  The rest is Butter.

Well, some Korean dudes have helped their with the netcode. After they where finished there was a stresstest. The results where 500 people in the same area fighting, without any lag or server shutdowns.

And after the release, with people that are lagging all over the place... well that have to be seen if that really happens and / or what the devs did about it

It's moreso that they decided to steal taxpayer's money after double crossing Congress on a deal where they would get public funding to overhaul our networks nationally.

I used to be all fan girl over this project, and I still keep an eye on it but my interest is far, farrrr less then what it used to be. This may be because I found what I was really looking for somewhere else, none the less I wish the TCoS dev  team huge success just for the shear amount of work going into this and for trying to do an mmo with a twist.

Single Best MMO In development I won't agree there, but  it's in the top 3 for SURE! lol

Well through the forums on the Spellborn page I pretty much figured out how they are getting over the Netcode issues that hinder most any MMO that tries to emplement a real time FPS type of combat.  One of the things that brings the network to its knees when there are possibly hundreds of players onscreen at once, is the addition of calculating the many trajectories of their  projectiles travelling to either  hit/miss or til the end of its range..  The servers just cant keep up with that many players in battle with all their shots flying around.

Spellborn eleminates this by eleminating the trajectories of projectiles entirely.  If you put a crosshair on someone and click.  It hits them immediately.  In melee range though you hit at the end of a swing, but at range its instant hit.  Thus you jump around to try to make it harder for someone to keep a crosshair on you in ranged combat.   Thus it seriously cuts down on the server load.
