seemless world or zoned?

Is this a seemless world like asherons call or is it zoned

if its zoned is it zoned like wow where mountains identify each area or is it just loading areas

I dont like feeling like im boxed into each zone...it makes the world feel so small.

Go figure, everyone has their own definition for every mmo term? ;) Zoned always refers to a loading time when going to a new area (eq1 ) seemless refers to a world that has no or little loading screens. Wow is seemless world, since the only loading screen you get is going to an instance. Chances are so is war.

It's what I would call seamless.  However, as in WoW, ther will of course be some walls/mountains you aren't able to climb over.  You'll also load into the instanced scenarios if you choose to partake in one.

as explained it like WoW which is seemless with geometry to help guide you, unless ya in outlands ofc then is up-up and anywhich way on your flying mount =D

How about a world that has zones, but is seamless?

You can swim across the river on the southern edge of the Alwynn forest and enter another zone, which is of course Darkshire.

The ideal situation is one that allows you to visually detect that you're crossing a zone boundary, but you can physically do so if you so desire.  it's not advisable to swim from the Alwynn to Darkshire if you're a level 9, but you can do it (and die quickly!) if you so desire.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

wow is very much zoned, the world is broken down into individual areas, it however is seemless. Wonder how big these non-zones as Ill call them will be in war, in wow they are pretty small and it seems the entire point is to limit straight travel thus making the game seem much larger than it really is.

i should note that i worded my original question poorly

seamless = lack of loading areas

zoned = has individually defined areas typically having geometric boundaries or significant differences in landscape and monsters.

Hard to say for anyone not in beta. Wow's zones were mostly boxed in, and wow also had a very clear progression for level of content (ie, there is nothing in the barrens for a lvl 50+)

Where as daoc's zones were more open, but daoc also had a rather mixed content progression, for example, salisbury plains, lvl 10-20 zone, also contained a high lvl dungeon (highest lvl dungeon of original daoc, barrows lvl 30-50)

So going by your definition of Zoned which is not the MMO definition even the Real World is Zoned since some areas of the world are 'zoned' by geographical boundaries and significant differences in landsape.  I mean if you've ever crossed country usually you can be in a nice wooded area then suddenly nothing but plains or stone mountains.  Hell just going from say Vegas to parts of California is a huge difference.    I mean if you want to fight in a world that primarily looks completely the Same .. well maybe you should stick with older games like AC since most of them other than maybe EQ are all that way.   Honestly I'd get bored if i had to see the same endless space all the time.

i thought it was fairly obvious from the maps..its like WoW with instances between each big zone

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

If it's zoned like EQ2 then the games already shit but if it's like WOW then fingers crossed.

Its what they call mostly seemless.

That's a pretty narrow view.  If it is zoned means it is bad?  Zoned or not (ala EQ2) has no bearing on if the game is good or not.

My guess (and it is just a guess since I'm not in beta ... yet ... is that the zones within a given region (defined as Chaos/Empire region, High Elf/Dark Elf region and Dwarf/Greenskin region) will be seamless.  However, I suspect there will be a loading screen when traveling between the three major regions.

ye i guess the zones between the different "battlefields" (race zones) will be connected by some sort of teleporter.

i'm worried about the cross-over from the for example human map to the chaos map i hope they'll be seamless tho... i guess they are seamless to else one side will camp at the "portals" to insta kill anyone coming thru

racial pairings will be open and connected, PvP areas in one zone (let's say Tier 1 dwarf) will be open access to PvP area in Tier 1 greenskin area. (i.e. you can walk from your zones PvP area into the opposing races PvP area without loading screens) so there is no portal camping

as for if there will be loading in between Tier 1 and Tier 2 zones, for example, I have no idea, but I doubt it.

I am assuming their will be loading between different racial pairings (human moves to dwarf lands) but they will be in the "safe" PvE areas, not the PvP areas to prevent portal camping.

enemy faction cannot enter the other sides PvE areas (from what I gather) and we probably all know that high level players who enter the PvP area of the lower tiers will be turned in chickens/chaos chickens

There will be lots of zones, from what I've managed to interpret there will perhaps even be instanced city fights q_q
