Everquest Graphics Upgrades?
To all of you regular subscribers to Everquest . . .
Have you seen any improvements in graphics lately? I remember reading about how the graphics was slowly going to to be improved. I am currently back to play for a month after downloading the EQ Trilogy, but the graphics I am seeing is the original games graphics. Luclin's upgrade was ok, but I am really looking for something more if I am going to re-activate my account.
Is the game world being improved or just character models? Will there be additions to the graphics or just small improvements here and there. If anyone has some info, I would love to know. Thanks.

Wait for the new expansion...omens of war.....there is gonna be a raise to level cap....new low level task system....titles for every level......epic 2.0.....

Thanks for that info, but what will Omens of War upgrade the graphics to Everquest at all? That is really my only problems with the game right now, I always liked the features and gameplay, but I can't stand to look at it anymore after playing Star Wars Galaxies, Final Fantasy XI, and Lineage II.
Graphics won't stop me from re-activating my account if I really get back into it. I have never tried LDoN or Gates of Discord, but my highest level character is only 25, so I would get no benefits from Gates of Discord probably. I hear that there is an Everquest Platinum edition that includes everyone expansion and costs $29.99, maybe I will pick that up and re-activate.
I just wanted to make sure about what is happening about that graphics upgrade I heard about a couple of months ago . . .
There is a huge improvement of the graphics since Trilogy I've noticed alot of small but eye pleasing things since DirectX 9 patch. Just the enviromental graphics are nice. And supposedly there are going to be more graphic upgrades to come.
As for your lvl 25 not seeing any benefit from GoD. Don't believe that if your in a group with someone who has done leadership xp then you will see a benefit right there. Not sure what class you play but man I can't live without the Health of Target's Target leadership ability. Its nice if I'm the tank I know when I need to taunt the mob off someone.
Yes, Leadership points are definately a "WIN" factor of GoD. I really enjoy that alot, and being able to see my Target's Target Health is a HUGE advantage as a cleric, rather then keep hitting my /assist key off the mob.
As for Graphics Upgrades, I've noticed major improvements overall gameplay wise from when I used to raid in POP, to now raiding Time. Less lag, I don't use spell effects, so if anything has changed in that respect, I'd be none the wiser
To be honest SoE are just feeding on addiction.
I am an ex EQ addict and honestly SoE is taking this baeutiful game and just milking it dry.

If you had problems with the graphics you aren't going to find anything new as of yet that is going to make you find it more pleasing. They recently beta tested the new graphics engine on the general public that they need for the next expansion (what a dam mess that was, and yes I paid it!). They have added some SMALL things like new rain effects (that really could be debated on wether they are an improvement or not) and some day night cycle stuff. They have however yet again though pushed the scale on video requirements abit so you need just a tad more to run the game smoothly. The player models still look rediculous as ever and the animations will still make you fall out of your chair laughing (except the frogs which from what I understand they actually axed the original new model designer and got someone else to do).
I have been playing EQ since release and they are just continually sticking in more and more fluff to as another person said, feed the addiction.
Every other month we get promised yet another expansion with "more zones", "new items", "more new AA abilities". I remember what all was promised to us with Luclin that we never got, I beleive we may finally get it with this new expansion. So yes, your getting SoL yet again.
I remember them promising new animations for each DIFFERENT kind of weapon, NOT weapon type. A promise that offhand attack animations would fit the weapon now as well and not be a generic jab. Complete new graphics for all the original weapons in the game, yada yada yada. With this in mind I would be warry to dive back in before they expansion is released. Somehow I have a feeling even now, how many expansions later, you still won't get all those original promises for product.
I like you am eager to see the new models however because honestly its the biggest point that is driving me from the game, the very poor graphics. So I am hoping for the best with this upcoming expansion. My suggestion to you would be to wait a few weeks after it finally is released and see what everyone is saying here. It could actually be something very productive this time around, or it could be yet just another new set of zones and AA with yet another new level cap (tell me again why it takes an expansion to change a level cap?).

From my posts here it would seem that graphics were all that mattered to me, but this isn't really true. I do need good graphics to get me into a game, but if the gameplay is fun and varied, I could play and enjoy a mmorpg with outdated graphics.
I have been playing Star Wars Galaxies and I played Final Fantasy XI, both have really nice graphics and animations. However, I still cannot find that addictive feeling that EQ gave me when I played. So I am thinking of coming back, but I wanted to make sure what the graphics where like. Even the most fun, addicting game will drive me away if the graphics are really bad.
The original EQ graphics are really bad by todays standards. I remember them being nice when i first got EQ. Now I just hope that with all of the expansions and upgrades, they can at least keep it looking decent.
the addictive qualities are very much still there, even more so now probably. And they continue to add addictive tidbits so you will probably find what you are looking for.

How many of you males like to wear a dress? The wizards, enchanters, necro's, and mages all wear dresses for the most part and all look .. well perty darn gay for the most part. That is not the sad thing of the game though. It's the elitest 4yr + player that is in one of the top guilds (which is wear you wanna be at the high end game) won't let you in the guild. AT the high end game if you are not highly political with a char that offers max value , YOU WILL HATE THIS GAME! 1st you will WAISTE many YEARS playing just to find out your char is not the best type and is not welcome in the high end guilds. This game almost jaded me to mmorpg's (well the people that play it, invalids and what not). BUT, luckily I won a trial on mmorpg.com for anarchy online, what the heck, I'll try it - BAM it was awesome , the community - AMAZING, friendly people , nice story, cool chars.. I didn't continue after the trial due to lack of funds and the game was a bit laggy - but, other than the lag this game was 100000 times better than EQ.

Yes, AO is a great game. To bad it does not work. I have to admit that the graphics did look great as I was rubber-banding around the game.
Everquest has over 400,000 monthly subscribers and AO has 40,000. Your sig says you play COH. Had you tried to put COH against EQ I would be able to see your point but Everquest Online Adventure for the PS2 has more subscribers then AO for crying out loud.
Why do people always associate quality and quantity? That's a bit retarded/ ingnorant. But, I would expect nothing less than the numbers from an EQ'r. That's the problem with eq , at the high end game it becomes more business and politics than a game. That was my point - well one of my points the other is EQ SUX !!! It went from Evercrack to Evercrap (just like it's community).

I don't get what you mean not the best type of character to get into the high end guild. Do you mean your class was not desired? Was it that you didn't have the right level or the AA's needed? Or do you mean that your race class combo was not desired? If it is the latter I've never heard of that before. If it is the first one then I feel your pain, but that doesn't mean that the game sucks. If it's the second one , then stick it out and get some AA's.
And what is this about politics to get into a guild? You must have been on one crazy ass server.

I stuck it out for 3 yrs.. Everquest owes me 3 yrs the way I see it. Corruption, Elitests, greed... that's what everquest is about....
Bahahaha I played for 3 years with one character and never had those problems. Dont be bitter just cause you suck at it.

The way I look at it , EQ doesn't owe you a thing, they don't force you to play, or to pay for it. It's voluntary. All you had to do was cancel the subscription if you hated it so much.
