In addition to its defensive strength, Dayar Rock has a stern, rock-hewn beauty that is worth fighting for. A waterfall tumbles into a dark pool in the center of the main cavern, which is adjoined by a labyrinthine network of tunnels that could serve as a hiding place during times of crisis.
^ Pure awsomeness!!!!
And the new screens are GREAT!

Great read.
btw inc trolls.
yep so far no one as beeped about it XD
you cant its a really decent update XD
Are those guns on top of those walls? They look like some kind of cannons that can be used against the opposing guild/clan who comes to siege the city.
no clue lmao
In the update it says thier cannons.
Just so you know, there were other things on that page besides the pictures. I believe they are called words. Together they form sentences. These sentences are used to communicate thoughts, ideas and information from one party to another.
Personally I'm not a fan of the F2P+item shop mostly for the fact that it would be easy for someone to just create a crafting alt and become self-suficent which really isnt great for the economoy.
I agree. If this game ends up being F2P with an item shop, I won't be joining.
I dont think darkfall devs are going to go with f2p.

Good thing the journal said they ARE NOT doing F2P......read the journal lol.
"More spectacularly, the region to the west is dominated by a Fire Dragon called Oathbreaker, who is one of the most powerful creatures on the continent of Cairn."
I wonder if Oathbreaker is going to be a killable mob ?!!

And when we got more women on the team, it was like No, no, no. We need puppies and horses in there.

More empty landscape shots?.....
I've forgotten how terribly outdated this games gaphics really are. I wonder if they actually plan on updating these graphics so they don't look like games made in 1999-2000.
"A major concern right now is publishing. "
I'll bet.
"We're still looking at both options of self publishing and accepting one of a few specific publisher options. "
Nice attempt at trying to show publically that there's publishers actually interested. When in reality there is probably no one interested and it's just a ploy to try and get ANYONE interested..
A few different publishing options? Surely if there was "a few" different options they would of chosen one a long time ago since they say that publishing is a "major concern" right now....
If it's such a "major concern" then maybe they should choose one of the multiple publisher options they say they already have been offered.
Or perhaps none actually exist to be chosen? Hence the "major concern"....
Loving the constant updates, Those landscapes look beautiful, Can't wait to play this game!

I'll agree with whoever told them to go Free to play + sell items because that's the only way this game would make any money. It's just not high enough quality anymore to do a pay 2 play setup and expect to get tens of thousands of subscribers. Just won't happen.
It would have to be just as good as WoW , Conan , Warhammer to justify charging people to play.. and the odds that it would be as good as any of those is very very slim.
I currently run a guild in SWG, WoW, and WAR beta, at the moment we've agreed that when this game is out we'll be switching too it, I just cant wait , I love PVP and the PVP is gonna be massive!

Most likely and I hope so.
That sounds amazing o.o
I hope the mobs are REALLY hard, and harder mobs are massive

<Mod edit>

Ashlon call is so much worse and out of date darkfall is on par with swg pre cu
From what I've read, the mobs in this game are supposed to be insane. They will jump behind things, use cheap tactics, run for help, anything it takes to mess you up and beat you down.
Nice to see that people are finally ignoring the trolls, looks like we'll be able to have some peace and quiet soon with the way things with Darkfall are going too, the graphics look pretty well polished from what I've seen of the screenshots.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
Its about time those mobs actually do something other than die.
My 2 cents: it seems that the new tendency in "MMO world" is to go F2P + item shop. And for a good reason: you must have an outstanding game to go P2P and succed in maintaining your player base - which obviously doesn't happen in most cases. So instead you give the game for free and rely on players' addiciton to the game. The higher their lvl, the more difficult to give up and switch for a different game (too much time and passion invested in the toon - we all know how it goes). Of course, when you are a high lvl player, you want to be competitive, so starting to use the item shop is sooner or later a must. That's why all those asian MMOs manage to raise enough money from item shops to make the games profitable. You don't understand how this works untill you reach that position and become another "victim": a paying customer. To keep a long explanation short: it's seems (to me) very risky to go P2P these days unless you are 100% sure your game is the bomb, and even then, failure awaits at the corner. Once ppl get used to the F2P + item shop system, it would be extremely hard to determine them to switch again for P2P. This "asian" system (apparently) gives you the freedom to play the game and decide in time if you like it enough to keep playing (of course, if that game is not artificially altered in order to force you to use the item shop), while the P2P system will charge you even before getting a clear picture about the game and its mechanics. Last, but not least, think of this: why would RF or Archlord go F2P + item shop, if the P2P system is still very profitable?
Now my question: usually maintaining a lag free game is a challenge to most of the MMOs. In order to achieve that, customization is affected. Further more, any massive activity (such as wars) is carefully planned and scheduled. Now how are these guys gonna solve this problem (which is critical when deciding to keep playing the game or not), considering that Darkfall will have a real time development and that any given time a massive war could start? How much time before their servers will crash? I mean, you log in, and in a couple of hours, 4, 5 new cities are built, a war has started, some guilds managed to build their citadels - all this in real time....how about servers not saving the data correctly? How would a roll back affect the world (on purpose or not)?
waa thats why ftp with item shop wont work plus yea P2P ftw
