Is the cash shop worth it?

Pros:
You can buy marriage items.
You can get cool clothing, weapons, and effects( like my bomb-status scythe).
You can buy pets.
Cons:
Cost a lot.
Most weapons are just masks.

Well, whether you find the cash shop to be "worth it" is completely based on your opinion as an individual.
I personally find Marriage stuff to be rather useless, not because I'm against online dating or anything, it's just that I'm not really sure if the people who predominately use it are really mature enough to handle marriage seriously (and, lo and behold, most people don't take it seriously. Score one for Dhaos). Some of the supposed "con" items that mask over your character... people eat these things up like candy. I personally prefer to stay simplistic in my use of the cash shop, opting for simple changes like a Monocle or a modest outfit change, but when you walk into the game, you'll see tons of pimped out characters, with a myriad of effects and items. Sometimes it's more fun to watch other people with items rather than buying them yourself. Pets, on the other hand, I don't really like either. Before they even serve any real purpose, you have to purchase further accessories, and all of them are really just created to aid those who are lazy to the point of failure (things like using your potions for you, picking up items for you, wasting your spare time by requiring food... like a real pet, only real pets are well, real. And fun.)
As for the price, it really isn't too bad. If you honestly believe that Nexon's Cash Shops are expensive, I'd suggest avoiding Gpotato's Cash Shops. Not only are they less useful in Gpotato games, but they also cost quite a bit more than what you get from Maple Story.

Gachapon and double exp are the best because they actually do something. Other than those, the rest are completely worthless.
It depends on your outlook of the situation.
By purchasing items from the Cash Shop, you are supporting Nexon and the game as well, as you are providing the funds to continue to have servers, moderators for the game, and such.
Of course, the majority of their items sold in the shop are partially useless, and only are for special effects. It may increase your entertainment, which could convince you to purchase their franchise.
Very interesting post btw.. My opinion on the matter... I've been playing Maple Story for a little over 2 years and... I don't even want to KNOW what I've spent on cash shop items. >.> Sure cash shop items don't LOOK expensive but.. everything you buy expires after 90 days. So if you think about it.. say you buy 25 dollars worth of NX Points every three months... you're almost paying what it's worth to play WoW.
Benefits of having cash shop items I've realized.. is people seem to talk to you more or invite you into party quests quicker. Maybe because your character stands out more than the rest? I've tested this even. I took off all my cash shop stuff.. even had a character with regular hair and spammed on ch 1 Ludi PQ area and didn't get invited.. I did this for about 10 minutes.. when usually it takes about 30 seconds to a minute. So I put on my cash shop stuff.. said the same thing and got a party invite within seconds.
About weddings.. my boyfriend and I (IRL) got our characters married in game. APQ is pretty pointless for exp but loads of fun and you have the chance to get apples in bonus. WOO!! APPLES! A good money maker there.
Then again I think this way about cash shop maybe because I'm an "older" player and understand the uses of it. Pets = awesome. If you're a major grinder then it's nice to have a pet pick up your loot so you don't have to stop and pick it up yourself while you are training... since everyone knows it already takes LOADS of fricken time to lvl in the first place.. The auto pots I think is just ridiculous. If you can't hit the pot button you shouldn't be playing MMOs lol.
Well, with this concluded.... I'll estimate for readers that I've spent probably around 500-600 dollars on NX in the span of 2 years. THAT'S A LOT! .....too much haha.. and there are people WAY worse than me. At least I wait til an outfit expires instead of having 2-5 outfits at a time.
There are quite a lot of things in the Cash shop wich are actually useful, I think i've spend about 60$ on NX cash in total, but if i look at the amount of time i Play maple, it didn't go to waste.
Stores are for example, very useful, i've spent whole days in the FM just to get rid of all my crap, but now i just set up store when I go to school, and when i come back, most of my Crap is Sold, and for an Higher amount aswell...and i didn't have to do a thing...definitly worth it IMO
Pets are Wonderful, sure, you spend 15$ for a Pet with standard equips (meso magnet, Item Pouch, accesoire) But it saves a Crapload of time Looting (especially if you're Laggy, ever tried to Loot a pile if you loot 1 item per 1.5 sec?) wich makes training a LOT more comfortable, and they look kinda cute aswell =]
Safety Charms...not worth it when you're lower lvl, but high lvls usually spend 1 mil on pot costs just to gain 20%? so that's like 250k for thieves/mages, and half a million for warriors/bowmen (however, on high lvls you don't die THAT much unless you're training at Himes, gobys, or just totally suck..
Beauty parlor..worth it if you want to look cool or accidently did the Amoria hair quest...great morale booster aswell
Gachapon...mixed feelings about this one, sure, it'll get you some money, but it's awfully hard to sell these days, as everyone gachapons, unless you lower your prices by like 100 - 200k per item...
Name Change Scrolls, definitly worth it if your IGN sucks, haven't used it yet though, i usually spend more time thinking of a nice IGN than Rolling the dice (honestly, decent IGN's aren't THAT hard, if your THAT strapped for one, just try "Dr...." or "Mr..." )
Cash Equips, depending on the situation, it's worth it, like for example, i always wanted to wear the pirate set, but i scrolleda 1 att 10 luk pink cape...which just totally don't Match, so i bought a Dracula Cloak, and now i look cooler than ever
