Just a quick poll if i may be so bold as a newcomer.
Im currently having some difficulties with a particular games payment options, and it led me to wonder how everyone else pays for their desired MMO(s).
Thanks in advance.

Credit card always. That way, if the game company screws you over (as many will), you write them a complaint and then copy your CC company. The payment get sblocked. Done! It is cetainly not worth the effort for $10 or $15. But, damn, it is satisfying to remind some of these companies who the customer really is.

Voted debit card. Never really had any problems. Save with Horizons, but that was easy to get fixed.

its all about the debit card baby! yeah you got to have money in there at the time, but i think that its great.
its even good for the people under 18, who cant get a real credit card, that still want to play mmo's, this way they can pay for it that way, and they dont have to pay the inflated price of game cards.
as for the security thing, my bank offers an online fraud protection deal, that has saved my ass once, and hopefully it will do it again, when the time comes.
a debit card even works like a credit card... in most cases. ive never had a problem with it, but i know other people have.
but yeah, definatly go with some kind of plastic for paying for your games, its so much easier.
I like the idea of game cards, because us people that are addicted to online games could get those as gifts instead of ties and socks.
Of course, I only pay with credit card because of the million and one uses of a credit card. And super easy to pay it off online, so don't see why anyone old enough wouldn't get a credit card.

because with a debit card you dont have to worry about anything
In theory credit cards are the way forward, however due to the general age of the MMO population this is not always an option. Other factors are involved aswell, such as credit ratings which are notoriously generalised and often exclude perfectly solvent people from owning one.
Im glad to see that folk here are voting, I totally respect this site and its community.
This is an important issue that MMO developers and publishers need to take note of. At the end of the day, they need to make their payment options as flexible as possible so as to include as much of their target audience as possible.
For me credit cards are the prefered choice for online payments, because in the event of theft I can dispute the charges. With debt cards, youre up a creek without a paddle if you want your money back.

Ah, a good point. I've gotten myself in trouble before with debit cards too. If you dont have a lot of cash, and try to charge one or more accounts to a debit card, then you get suspended from your game. With a credit card you don't, but you just have to remember to pay it sometime that month.
