PETITION and poll: Levelling your regular level in PVP

Frankly, I don't want to grind mobs all the way to lvl 80

I think it will be a good idea to be able to level up in PVP.

With diminishing returns of course. Maybe after lvl 5-20 or right after character creation.

WAR is going that way. AoC should too.

Why? It will make the gameplay more unique and differentiate it from EQ-like games.

After all, this was supposed to be a PvP centered game.

 

I wasn't following AoC forum. Sorry if i am beating the dead horse like a complete noob.

    I would LOVE to be able to get XP / Level from PvP. This is a feature that has been missing from MMOs.

    And can you imagine being able to say that you'd level capped on ONLY PvP kills?

    Theres a separate leveling system for pvp only that consists of 20 levels if Im not mistaken

    Its to say that you can unlock additional skills that people who never pvp dont have etc, so I doubt what your saying will be implemented

    Besides its been said  that leveling  rate will be pretty similar to WoW in that it will probably take from 3-5 weeks to hit max level depending on your type of gameplay

    So theres 20 seperate PvP levels and 5 Merc Levels (PvP related) on top of 80 normal levels. This is the core of the game - too late to change now.

    WAR is an RvR game so the mechanics are different.

    Because of the way its set up in AoC, if your PvE or PvP skill gets nerfed at least it won't affect the other, out in the game world.

    If it went like WAR then it wouldn't be unique.

    Blood Coins in AoC (form of looting) is setup just for PvP too. PvP will carry different feats as well in this area. AoC will OPEN PvP servers, so you can train you PvP levels that way, so you can level up in PvP just for PvP.

    Edit: Unless PvP skills are supposed to be exclusive to hardcore pvpers only. Than its ok i guess.

    Wow, is that true. I hope it takes a hell of a lot longer then 1-2 months to reach max level. We dont need another level fest like WoW, lets make the journey to max level the game, not have 80 fast levels of nothing to get to end game, which is the game. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

    Just mean Unique as in borrow other games idea's thats all :)

     

    Its a nice idea though.

    PvP in AoC carries seperate PvP feats too I believe yes.

    On the side topic: I honestly hope it doesn't take 3-5 weeks to reach max level. I hope it takes double that, so its a real triumph.. but that its also packed with detail and stuff to do in-between so you don't get bored 1/3 the way there. I thought WoW was a bit too quick to reach the top with far too much meaningless grind sessions on the same NPC over and over again. Like the 40-50 area where it was pretty much a grind-fest? No thank you.

     

    As for the topic, I think its a better idea to give XP through both PvP and PvE. Not everyone wants to PvP. So they can grind the NPC walking around the world. But some people live, breathe, and eat PvP every day of their gaming lives.. and it would be a shame to take that away from them. The only downside to this that I can see is major camping. Why camp the NPC who does a fair job at fighting when you can camp "Heraldo" the Stygian who doesn't know the W key from his Attack icon.

     

    So it'd have to be tweaked and set with your standard griefing PvP rules on the XP limitations, but otherwise? Go for it. Even if its PvP server only. Still a cool idea.

    Leveling - Wanted it to be accessable to the casual gamer, so it will be relatively fast. Athelon said that getting to AoC lvl 80 = 9 days played, compared to the first time playing to WoW (no twink economy) lvl 60 = 15 days played.

    Thats relatively in the 1-3 month area depending on how much you play.
