Trouble with credit card...

NativeOneNativeOne Member UncommonPosts: 18

Do anyone beside me have trouble with their credit card when registering the account?

When I tried to order the pre-order from NCSoft I got rejected for fraud suspicion, the same happened now when I try to register my retail-version... I have tried both my VISA and my Mastercard. I even had a friend try to register it with his card, but same thing happened.

Tried to write to their support but only get some auto answer with absolutely no relevance.... Anyone gotten the same trouble and got any advice?

I had no problem with mine.

Not sure what to suggest other than to double check you put all the information in correctly and that the information you provided when you created you gaming account matches what you gave to you credit card company. Other than that i got nothing.

Sounds to me like the info on the account is different from the info on your CC.  Name... address.. something sounds like it's off.   If not, give them a call.

I'm having the same problem. I was able to purchase the game online no problem.. but when trying to set up the card to use for the monthly billing all of them are saying "There was a problem processing your request." I tried my own visa and mastercard, my dads American EX and VISA, also my little brothers VISA and just now 5 seconds ago my girlfriends mastercard. all of them get the same message...

Anyone know whether the "Play NC" time cards will work?  Has anyone tried it to see if you can get a subscription to Tabula Rasa with them?

After all seems rather logical, wouldn't you think, since TR is part of the PlayNC line up...

I am having the same problem. 3 different cards, same response. I am emailing back and forth with them atm.

I'm having the exact same problem. I suspect it might be because I am over seas. Really annoying that the purchase of the game went fine but actually activating it (and being able to download) wont work. The customer service in this matter is pathetic so far. With $50 for the game and $15 a month they need to have something more than e-mail support. This isn't Pay once play forever Guild Wars... I'm thinking of just requesting a refund

  • NativeOneNativeOne Member UncommonPosts: 18

I have now gotten several answers from their customer services, they claim it is the bank that is stopping the purchase which I do not believe at all. I have talked with both of my banks and they say this is not being stopped by them, also they say I should not been able to use the cards online on other purchases if the problem was at their end.

I am soon going to give up and ask for a refund from the store, which will probably be a problem since the game card has been opened...

Well I did manage to figure out how to start the game downloading, but it sounds like this is going to be a long problematic process setting up my account. I'll keep everyone informed, but if I receive the same level of support as it sounds like the rest of you are receiving, I don’t see myself playing the game, fun or not. Strange I didn’t have any problem a few months ago trying CoH (which wasn’t for me).

for those that might be in the same situation but have some hope it will be resolved u can download the client here ftp.playtr.com/

I bought the retail version so I already got the game set up, but that does not matter since I cannot get the account going.

Anyway I hate that they force us to subscribe before the free month is gone.

Ouch, that's defiantly a worse situation than me. I can't imagine purchasing a game from a store, then finding out they wont even let me have my free month because of their arbitrary fraud prevention crap. Sounds to me like unfair business practices = punitive damages?

I had the same trouble with my preorder.   The situation was easily sorted by customer service, with the reply...

"Thank you for your patience. After reviewing your account, it appears your first purchase attempts on the credit card ending in **** were refused by your financial institution. Because of those refusals, all subsequent attempts resulted in the error you received.

Please contact your financial institution to determine why your initial attempt was refused by them, and what can be done to resolve that issue. After resolving that issue with your financial institution, please wait at least 24 hours from your very last transaction attempt, then try the transaction again.

Please keep in mind that too many failed attempts within a short timeframe will always result in the error you received."

The original card I tried to use was my bank card which can be finicky with online transactions.  It does have a lock for that kicks in randomly, some transactions work, and some fail.  After waiting 24hr as told, I used a standard credit card with no problem.

Yeah after answering some questions etc. They now tell me that I should be able to play 24 hours after the last time I tried to use my card. IMO thats really an unprofessional system they have. After you harass someone and then find out that person is actually not trying any scam, lets make them wait 24 hours because we aren't able to work the fancy computer rejection system? Also they tell me if I try to use any card to activate my account before 24 hours since my last attempt, the 24 hours will start over. This is assuming the card will even be accepted the next time. It is a really huge charge so I understand all the security.... oh no wait my card isn't even being charged anything at all.   This game is going to have to be really good to make up for this crap.

I had the same problem is so freakind idiotic that a game comes with 30 days free and that they ask for a credit card before u use those 30 days

    It maskes no freaking sense...

Thank god i used a friends credit card without any problem i was getting pretty mad and i was going to return the game

No way in hell im going to spend 30$ extra without knowing if i may like or not the game and then i would have 3 months

You need to submit a ticket with the support and do not try to use your card any more until they get it cleared up. Also try to make note of the last time you attempted to use your(any) card to register. They will eventually clear up your card, but it is of course impossible for them to work the fancy computer system and let you register before the 24h hold on your account is over. If you try again to register before the 24 hour hold on your account is finished you will take another 24 hours without being able to play (IMO your lucky they don't just ban you for such disrespect).

I finally got it to work, but no thanks to customer services... They just kept saying the bank rejected the transaction and that I needed to contact my bank. I talked to the bank and they said no transactions had been rejected. They even did loads of extra check ups and later in the day someone from the national VISA services called me and tried to help, after probably 2 hours on the phone to different banks and national institutions I was started to feel really pathetic and was just going to give it up..

I had now tried my VISA, Mastercard  and had a friend try his VISA... Then I remembered I have just a couple of days ago  gotten a new VISA which  I keep as a backup, so I thought it do not hurt to try it. Somehow IT WORKED!! I have no idea why this card worked, I know for  110% that I did mistype with the other cards, it triple checked every time...

Well, the game work now, but i really hope I will never need the help of their support services because so far I have no faith in them...

Good luck to the rest of you!

Just fyi: I'm having the same issue as TigerSmith, honestly they don't have any comment or indication of letting you know about this concept of waiting 24 hours.  I love the way they let the person know about this 24 hour downtime when you do this, no-disclaimer for the win!

I would like to see a comment about that when i first agree to sign up for this, less than an hour ago i was on the phone with my bank talking to them about the same issues that everyone else was having. Funny thing is, apparently PlayNC gave me the joys of having 2 purchases of $49.99 on my card, OHHh joyous of days and wonders!

They tell me to closely watch this and make sure that they don't finalize both or there's something up. That's my story, hope you all enjoyed the 3 minutes of story time with your story teller "Aqueitas". *closes the book of stories*

Has this happened to anyone in NA? Seems like a Euro issue with the bank they're using.

I feel sorry the poor guy (lailoken) First he gets ripped of by NCSoft, at least in a way, then he complain about it on a forum and just get flamed for not reading the small print..

Do any of you read the small print and everything else before buying a game?

  • AqueitasAqueitas Member Posts: 2

Yea its natural for me to read the fine print, like i said no mention of a disclaimer about this 24 hour downtime, which makes it very difficult inorder for anyone to play. They will go through the same experience as this person did, as well as many others.  Just to prove that reading the fine print is important here's an example:

There was a article a while ago about Microsoft, when you agree to use their program, like windows or anything, they have the right to come to your house and take your computer without giving you reason/replacement for the unit. That's something you agree to when you use Microsoft's software, don't believe me read the fine print.

But like i said, no disclaimer or mention of a 24hr downtime period between the purchase and account creation, talk about lack of control and organization. Still haven't seen my 2 charges of $49.99 widdled down to just one, credit card fraud? Possibly..
