Q: about cloning... stats, skills etc?

KralKral Member Posts: 6

Sorry for posting soo many questions this morning.. at work and trying to get all the facts straight before playing tonight.Ive read that the best thing to do is clone at level 14.99% so as you have 2 characters to hit 15 with. Then repeat at lvl 29.99% so as you'll end up with 4 players to use etc.

I also read that you need to be very careful with what stats you pick as they cant be re-done. Now what im asking is.. what "stats" are they talking about? Are they only talking about health, mind, XXX ( forget the third )? or   Are they talking about boost to run, power, and skills like hand to hand, firearms etc?

Im wondering if players just level to 15 without spending any points or picking any class so as all the clones after that can be molded into what ever class you want rather then worrying about spending early points on bad skills. ( ie hand to hand when your making a clone medic ).

I dont mind leveling 2 characters to 5 to branch off both trees... then clone, then branch, then clone etc.. but.. if skill points cant be re-talented... how does anyone know what to spend in early levels?

And lastly.... is there a huge diffrence when picking health, mind, regen? I dont really see stats soaring when i pick em.. so i cant tell if what im picking is hurting or helping my character in the long run...

When you get enough xp to advance to level 5, 15 or 30 and you go to speak to the profession trainer there will be a tab at the bottom that says clone so you can clone when you have essentially reached 15 etc but not chosen you profession branch yet.

Your Clone will have all of their skill points unallocated regardless of how you spent them before (with the exception of body mind and spirit). So, if you choose, you can take your clone and load up on the newer skills and skip the ones from lower levels such as motor assist armor or whatever.

You are right that you should be careful about the stats you choose on your original character. Your clone will have all of their skill points unallocated but your normal character will have all of the skills you trained in before, such as lightening, hazmat armor, sprint, etc. You wont be able to re-do those skills once you have chosen them. So my advice is to not train in it unless you use it regularly.

With that said, I think it would be a bad idea to go to level 15 without spending your skill points as you would definitely be at a disadvantage. It is always good to train in firearms. Everyone should have that to 5. But do you really need hand to hand? doubt it, so I wouldnt train in it. Do you need motor assist armor? Only to level 5 so dont waste many points there. How often do you use sprint? I never do so I dont train in it. If you are a specialist you will use hazmat armor till level 15 so thats a lot of levels you will be using it. It would be a good idea to put some points in it but I wouldnt go with 5, maybe 3, unless you plan on wearing it past level 15. Once you choose your profession at level 15 that is the armor you will be using for now on so put some points in it.

As for health, mind, and spirit. Those boost your hit points, power, and regen. If you think you need more regen then health then go for it. I have been keeping them even until I know for sure which will benefit me and my play style the most. You can always try to load up on one at one level and then even it back out at the next level if you arent happy with it.

K, got everything you said except for the part on when to spend the clone token.

I do the quest... get the token, and at 5? just before picking my class.. i hit clone? That will give me 2 characters lvl 5 with no master class right? I believe last night i hit 5, ran up and picked my class.. but wasnt finished the "oppourtunity" quest.

I can restart tonight and do it right.. just want to make sure i dont hit 5 or 15 and i needed to hit clone eariler....

You automatically get one clone at level 5 and another at 15 and I think one more at 30. The ones you get for completing the quest are extra on top of those. You should only have to level one character to 5 unless you missed that clone chance :)

Although, myself and many others would recommend saving the level 5 clone credit.  It takes maybe 20 minutes to get a new character to level 5, and then you'll have a spare credit at 50.

You can use the clone credits at any time from the login screen, however it makes sense to use them right before making a major branch decision.  This is why, as kaldier mentioned, there is an option to clone at the trainer before making the choice.

Yep, save the first one. Don't make a clone at 5.

I trained a two recruits up to 5, made one specialist and the other soldier, saved the cloning credit.

Well, I trained the soldier up to 11, realized i really screwed up the skills/stats, so i cloned him, reallocated the skills into crafting to make this clone my crafting alt, then made a NEW character, and got him up to Soldier level 12 lol.

now I just have to figure out crafting... well, more then what I've already done.

    Cloning system = pure genius

Though, they SHOULD have the ability to realloacted skill points without cloning too.
