What if it turns out Age of Conan has Full Looting ? We already know that PvP and RP-PvP servers will be Open PvP everywhere except hubs/towns as only safe places.
With the wait for Darkfall never ending, there is a need to sink your teeth into something with more than a passing resemblence... AoC.
AoC might not be Darkfall, it might not be truly open, it might not have the same game mechanics, it won't have naval warfare straight away, it doesn't offer all the nice words you see in the DFO videos - but alot of people are attracted to Darkfall people because of the ability to full loot.
So im wondering how many of you guys will try AoC out? I mean lets be honest DFO is still a long way off and there are no other games coming out or that are out they have a possible resemblence in this regard. Even in both games you will have to aim attacks at some point. Its not a carbon copy but there might be enough similarity to attract DFO fans.
There's no need to flame here, just curious.

With full corpse looting, no I will not be playing AoC.
While we are being honest, just because DarkfallOnline devs are keeping things held tight and Funcom is more open about AoC, both are rumored to be at the same stage in production. Also, while we are being honest, AoC barely has more people that have tested it than DarkfallOnline. For all we know, Darkfall Online could very well beat AoC to market.
From one friend to another, don't buy your game's hype until they launch. Even then, you could get burned, AC2 anyone?
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
I think there is a BIG difference in terms of ability to release and development cycle between the two.
But with DFO putting out the Full Loot angle, and with AoC having a large portion of the game world open PvP with possible Full loot (on some servers) all im curious is does this attract the DFO fans thats all.
Its not a who is the better game thread. Facts and Figures aren't public in response to your middle paragraph so I don't go by rumours.
Im just posting from the full loot angle. There is a chance that some servers in AoC will support this, (game will have normal servers too) and with all the reading about PvP and FFA PvP and full loot we can atleast semi make comparisons in this regard between the two.
So maybe I should say "IF AoC releases before DFO and IF it looks like DFO won't be out for a while...."
Its not about hype for either its about an appeal the two could have in common and a big one at that!
I think you guys both bring up good points.....sometimes I get so sucked into darkfall that I forget to really check the features of other games these days. Even if Darkfall were to release plagued with bugs, I sadly would attempt to stick it out, unless it was pure crap. I have never felt that way about a game before. Lets face it, Darkfall is the underdog right now, and it has a lot to prove, but on paper it really has big pontential.
I don't mind waiting for darkfall at all. If it takes a long time but delivers what I want then I would be happy. If they made an old t2a UO server I would wait for it and be excited cause although its outdated....the gameplay was the most fun I have ever had. Gameplay should always be the number one focus, everything else should support it (Sound, Graphics, etc).
Hi,
let's say the rumor is true, why Adventurine was unable to produce a playable version at the various games shows and why the guy ( the one who visited Adventurine office in greece ) was only able to play a one year old built. They didn't even started beta, they didn't have a publisher nor the servers farm yet.
And DF beating Aoc to market ? I don't think that could be possible.
Hope clouds judgement ( Frank Herbert's Dune ).
Beta does not need to be as long as some people would like you to believe. They are usually prolonged because the game isn't really close to being finished. Actually the publisher I believe their giong to go with would probably be themselves because I honestly can not see a publisher willing to give that amount of investment on a game like this.
Also from what I hear about AoC that its likely they'll miss their next date.
Definetly not, darkfall is a completely different play-style that has many more features, coming here to recruit people to play AOC doesn't bode well for your reputation.

This is were we have to agree to disagree. Darkfall will no doubtedly have less content than AoC. Matter of fact, I see AoC getting released holiday season 2008 or in 2009. The burdon is on AoC. They are building not only a pvp sandbox, but a huge pvp with story arch type game. Darkfall is mostly about the sandbox and let the players sort it all out.
Asp from LoD played the game. Even if it was a year old build, who cares? I've been to some conventions to see Funcom and played AoC at one. Guess what, the made demo builds as well. All you get to play in newbie island. It happens. LoD is buzzing with excitement so that should tell you from what Asp saw, life is good in DarkfallOnline.
Bottom line. Asp of LoD is excited and now their guild is excited. So there is something to DF. AoC is beautiful with a huge amount of systems in game. They've pushed back 5x. Who knows if they can pull it off? They will most likely push back more. I hope both launch and are successful and don't end up another Vanguard (needing rescued) or G&H. As of right now, as far as I'm concerned they both are vaporware. One hasn't showed us much in over year and the other plays like a tease and won't launch. Remember, AoC was so good September 2006 the devs were ready to go home because the game was ready to lauch. Here we are over a year later and we all know what has happened.

Ok, I respect your opinion, but please mate - it has nothing to do with recruitment lol
I was just asking the question, because of the similarity of Open PvP with potential full loot thats all...
Please just see it as that, as its nothing more.
Was just trying to gauge if that is the "main thing DF fans look forward to here" as participant of DFO official forums for a few years now, it seems FFA full loot is the main draw, followed by the core gameplay mechanics.
As for pushbacks and all things considered developement is going fine by the looks of things:

With all do respect, Athelan is the one last September that was heading back to America to be with this girlfriend because the game was done. I know he just works there, but IMHO he doesn't seem to be the most reliable one to say what the state of the game is atm.
Saying that, I do agree with you. IF AoC comes out before Darkfall Online and they do have FFA PvP servers with full loot (which Athelan is pushing for if memory serves me correct), you would think Darkfall Online fans would want to call Hyboria home until Darkfall's launch (assuming it happens).

Full loot and PvP everywhere would be enough for my personal curiosity to try AoC out. But it would still be a levelbased game, which means an endgame. That needs to be adressed as well.

I don't really like any specific darkfall feature, it's when you put them together they sound great, I mean, Open PVP and full loot is great but if you dont have features like ships, non-instanced wars, It's really no different. (IMO)
I mean, AOC is the first MMO to attempt or succeed to add a higher graphically requirement to the game, And the second to attempt twitch combat, I can see they're trying something new, but even so I still would play darkfall over AOC if both had full features promised, and were released around same time.
