Shiva; launch Q3 2004?

tck_tokyotck_tokyo Member Posts: 125

I'm really looking forward to Shiva, the things it has to offer are going to make me feel like a kid at the candy store again. Honestly though, I'm burning inside because it hasn't come out yet. I know they've got alot of work to do even as it currently is, etc, but it's making me feel unsure about this date.

I'm not wondering how hyped you guys are about having it come out, since I know any dedicated EVE player would be looking forward to it, if you're special and disagree then feel free to post something, I'm more looking for statistics however.

How many of you are confident in the launch of Shiva, timing or all together, please vote here:

Let's just say I wouldn't put money on it. They are still working heavily on fixes at the moment, an despite the fact, like you, I'm seriously looking forward to Shiva, I do think it's best they fix as many of the current problems as possible.
Every patch seems to cause extra issues so I'd rather they have it stable before it goes live because this is going to be a major overhaul of the game.

You're right, I really hope they do make the current build as close to perfect as possible first.

CCP is under a lot of pressure to get this thing out by Q3 and I think they will.  However I also except some very very bad bugs for a couple of months because the rushed it out.  Right now I'm wondering if they can get the current client debugged.  The time right before castor was the best for client stability.  I miss those days but the extra content now makes up for it.

Bugs are a part of games.  Whether it be a MMO or a single player game.  There are always more in a good MMO because the good ones are constantly updated with new content.  This means new bugs and then they have to solve them.  Personally I believe the game is stable enough to have Shiva put in.  I get a few bugs that are very annoying but are more design flaws like bouncing off asteroids and stations or like the other day when I told my ship to dock and it wouldn't dock....that got me nice and podded by a rat.

They do release things in segments.  Partly because they can't finish everything when they want to.  However, I do believe the player owned outposts and new ships are going to be ready by Q3 and will be put in as those are prob the highest priority.  I'd also bet the new interface will go in Q3.  Some of the other stuff will end up coming in later but hopefully not by much.  :)  I think they do a good job of making new stuff while fine tuning the old.

    I have the faith brother!

Personally I would rather see them finish it before releasing it, even if that does mean a little extra wait. The less bugs the better. Although from what Ive read it does look great ;-)

So Im not confident that it will come out in Q3, but at the same time Im ok with that. Would rather wait than have a bunch of server downtime.

Tell me about it, with all the new skills coming out I'm going to go on a shopping spree and end up with a bunch of lvl 0's.

Yep, totally agree - so much to learn and so little time. Has anyone heard any rumours about whether the new ship types like the destroyer will be tech 1 or tech 2 ships ? Right now it's taking me longer to be able to fly an interceptor than it did for my battleships ::::05::

Well I do hope Shiva does happen on time or close to it. It would not bother me if they released it in segments like Castor was. If that is what it takes to get it out and for the most part be bug freee. My skill buying spree will have to wait until I get back in the game so I can get some ISK. Sucks being away from the game for long period of time.

I believe the news ships are going to be Tech2, but do not quote me on that.

Oh god yeah, I know all about taking EVE breaks, it can be something of a nightmare. It's a great feeling coming back though.

Technicaly speaking, none of the ships are "t2". For example the interceptors and covert ops all are "elite frigates" Basicly they are just new classes. However, if you are coming from "do they take T2 components" perspective, then yes, all of the future research will probably require components.

Thanks Neg - that's the kind of angle I was coming from. Better start saving all my tech2 junk again

I find it very interesting that the poll shows most people who are answering it as thinking it actually will come out in Q3; I just don't see how it can happen.

Shiva has MANY major additions according to CCP's list, and it has to be debugged.  I bet there will be lots of additions that just won't make the cut because the first draft just doesn't work.

This is (real close, 15 minutes) to July 23rd; that only leaves about 2 months before Q4 begins.

But frankly, it would be wise to fix all the bugs in the game first (especially this last patch), then bring in Shiva AFTER it has been tested.  That last Castor patch seemed as though it never went through quality control or testing as it was real buggy.

It is possible it could be here in Q4, but if it does get out, I don't think it will have all the things that the players think will be in it.
