starting ffxi..questions

in Final Fantasy XI

hi i'm getting the game with the 3 expansions tomorrow and im wondering which server to go onto. i played this game for like 3 days about a year a go when i didnt know how to play mmos and i didnt get to choose a server and nobody spoke in the chat and i got frustrated so i quit but now im going to try it for real so i was wondering if

1.you can pick your servers when you make your character

 

i probably play on Asura because people say its good i should get the game tomorrow.. my name will probably be either Conon,Archimbaud, or Gobert

    yes, you can pick your server. I recommend the Asura server, myself, although YMMV.

    Hey is there a free trial for this game too? I've been really meaning to try it.

    One of my friends are completely addicted to it, so I wanna see how good it is. If it's just another WoW, or worst, a Korean MMO ';..;'

    There is a "starter pack" cd that you can get at most video game shops for $2.00 USD, which includes the basic game, and 30 days play time.

    Other than that, you MIGHT be able to get a buddy key off someone, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

    And no, the game is NOTHING like WoW. It is certainly unique, although a bit frustrating for beginners. It's very complex, and takes a little while to get the hang of. I'd say the learning curve is a little on the steep side, and depending on the job you pick to start with, can be more than a bit difficult.

    But it is FUN.
