What classes will we see in Aion?

Answer: There are eight classes currently in development.  Each faction will have a slight variation in class skills once they reach the first promotion at level 10. Note: According to the NCsoft these class names are not official and are subject to change in the full release.

Fighter

Knight

Ranger

Assassin

Wizard

Elementalist

Priest

Chanter

What level do you have to be to fly?

Answer: A distinctive feature that this game will have is the concept of flying. This will be a limited [active skill], during which the character will be able to perform various exclusive skills against ground and air players. It will also be used to find higher elevation areas or materials that can not be accessible through walking. Initially when you receive the power of the Davea at level 10 you'll receive a flight indicator with a 1 minute timer. Later the game will come out with items to upgrade your flight time.

Is there going to be pvp?

Answer: The end game of Aion will revolve around battles within the Abyss (PvP Zone). Within the Abyss are castles where large scale battles will take place. The game currently does not allow factions to fight within their own. Guilds in control of a castle are entitled to funding from taxes and players within the faction get specials from NPCs.

Do you earn anything from pvp?

Answer: The participation in PvP is rewarded with PvP "Points". The game ranks you as you win battles against fellow players. At certain ranks your wings will change in appearance to show your status. Also certain items can be purchased with these points like high end armors and weapons.

How many players can you have in a raid/party?

Answer: Raids will consist of a maximum party size of 6 per group.

Is this game currently in beta?

Answer:

NCsoft planned to perform a closed beta test on June 28~29 and on July 31, but was later delayed till October 31, 2007 for developmental reasons.  According to Aion's Senior Designer Ken Choi the scheduled simultaneous world wide (Asia, Europe and the U.S.) release date will be before the summer of 2008.

Ken Choi's exact quote from the Gamona on Tour: Interview mit Ken Choi is:

Sometime early in 2008, we think before summer. It will be released both in Asia and Europe and the U.S. There will be some time difference for localization but we are aiming to have the launches as close as possible.

Will Aion have a subsription fee?

Currently the testing is in closed beta. At the moment the game is priced, according to NCsoft, at $14.99/month flat fee but this may be subject to change.

What are the current factions?

Answer:

Two playable factions exist; the Elyos and the Asmodians. However, PlayNC has not yet revealed much information about the Asmodians. A third faction, the Balaur, will be server-controlled.

The Elyos are characters who live in the upper half of Aion, a light and vibrant place, while the Asmodians live in the lower half, the darker side of Aion. The developers explicitly mentioned that the character factions are more complex then simply one side being good while the other side evil.

The Balaur are NPCs and cannot be chosen at the character creation screen. They have artificial free will, and are designed to be unpredictable when they appear, for example, they may side with you during a skirmish with the opposing faction, but afterward they may decide to turn on you. They are described as Draconic-like beings (which is also suggested by their name, as "Balaur" is the Romanian term for Dragon).

When did Aion development begin?

Answer: In May 2006, NCsoft announced the development of Aion and that the game would be featured at E3 2006. NcSoft has confirmed on October 31, 2007 the Korean closed beta will start. According to the European Community Coordinator the game will be making an appearance at the Leipziger Messe Game Convention August 23-26, 2007 Germany. It has been confirmed that NCsoft will not be at the Tokyo Game Convention in 2007.

One minute flight time?  Why?   Why not just have a stamina meter that a player can monitor.  In basic lfight they'd be able to fly x amount of time based on strength, stamina and dex.    If they get into combat while flying they'd not be able to sustain flight for as long.

Will it be a grind like Lineage II?  That was one thing that turned me off from Lineage II - the grind.  Will it require us to live the game to level?

The basic game play sounds a lot like Lineage II.  Is this just a re-invisioned Lineage II but in a different setting and with characters that have the ability of flight because it certainly sounds like it.

I agree about the whole flight time issue, but who knows this could change. I believe the original design of the game didn't even have free flight, but locked flight paths so they changed it to what it is currently.

Anyways to address your grind quest, they have said that it will not be the typical eastern style grind. In fact they are approaching this game with a more western appeal in hopes of acquiring a larger world market. So I''d say expect a lot of quest grinding compared to hordes and hordes of mob grinding. Although the length of time to reach max level is something I have no clue about.

I see you play Vanguard, therefore the grind of Aion shouldn't be a huge shocker to you and might  even  be fun, this is what I get from the info out there.  A lot of it will be quest based, but not entirely.

You're quite right this is a re-envisioned L2, it was meant as an L2 expansion but was taken into a whole new direction and made into it's own game with no relation to l2 lore wise.

There will be items you can gain that will lengthen the flight timer, as you level it'll be possible to fly longer (I think? someone feel free to confirm)

Let me correct Cynthe real quick: AION was originally codename for LINEAGE 3's development project. When it became too different, they split it off and made it into its own game.

Lineage 3 is still in planning, though.

Lineage 3 was being made along with Aion, then Lineage 3 code was stolen so basically they had to go back to square one.

Assuming they'll still make it, we won't see the game until at least 2011.  Sounds about right time wise if they start in Jan 2008.

Guys you should first inform yourselve about this game!

It has firstly nothing to do with L2/L3... also grinding is a big no no in the concept of Aion. Aion concepts say that they wanted to remove ANY kind of grind as good as possible! Leveling from 1-50 is about like Wow's 1-60 ! However there are plenty of cool quests (also some instances) with cinematics sequences (like FFXI had), PvPvE endgame (something new). There is crafting, beautiful characters and animations/emotes, nice interface with WASD or point/click control .....

The game is really well made and from what we can see already from the dev chats and movies - it really lives up to its hype.

I for one cant wait for this awesome game. If there doesnt go anything wrong I will surely play it over WAR & AgeofConan.

    Kind regards,

    LD

It's the other way around actually. "lineage forever" was the name of the Aion project before it became Aion.

Oops. I'm dumb. You're quite right, actually. I'm going to go feel stupid in another thread now... :(

i really hope 1-50 in aion isnt like wows 1-60, because to be honest, wow was way too easy to level in. the faster ya get to max level the faster you wind up doing the same crap over and over and to me all the fun is leveling.

  • LordDevilLordDevil Member UncommonPosts: 253

I know what you mean but since they want you to go into the endgame PvPvE I dont see it that bad if the leveling is a bit faster.

But you are right I am also for the leveling fun too - its just that in Aion you can still advance once your reach the level cap (Stigma).

They just wanted to remove any repetitive tasks as much as possible.

    Kind regards

mmyes I read that it's going to be a bit longer than wow. Im guessing between wow and l2, but much closer to wow.

Good info. With all the MMORPGs coming out, you wonder if there will be any time left to play yet more MMORPGs

LOL good point, well I think there will be something for everyone and that's awesome, though mega monsters like WoW probably won't happen again, that's not a bad thing at all either. Now you can pick something that really suits you and not have to put up with certain 'features' just because it's the only game of it's kind out there ect.. ;)
