in Final Fantasy XI

hi i just log into game I cannot move with W,A,S,D and when i type anything it puts it into chat..the graphics really suck too! how do i make them better and change the keyboard layout?

    i know that u can defnitly move with the keyboard, but im not sure how. Also the graphics DO NOT suck whatsoever, i played on ps2 and 360, the graphics on this game are for sure still better then games made a yrs after it. im betting its your graphics card that is making it suck, the game itself is still top notch espically for its age (came out 2003)

    Hey Zanfire you happy soul, The title says it all - Help, perhaps insted of getting on your soapbox you could explain to him how to change his graphic settings or access some configuration menu's so he can sort it out.

    In your start menu, go to PlayOnline, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy Config.

    Tweak options to your heart's content.

    Dont worry i had the exact same issues.

     

    A) Change the control by going to menu ( - minus key on the numpad) -> config -> misc2 -> select the 2nd control option (called compact mode or something). Now you can:

    1. move with wasd (left hand)
    2. camera view with the arrow keys (right hand)

    B) Sucky graphic, yes default graphics really suck even at max resolution/setting. Do the following to get high resolution crystal sharp graphics in FFXI.

    1. Open Regedit  by type regedit at the start->run
    2. Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPlayOnlineUSSquareEni xFinalFantasyXI 
    3. Change 0001 and 0002  to the resolution of your monitor. (for example, lets say you have a 1600x1200 lcd then 0001=1600 and 0002=1200
    4. Change 0003 and 0004 to be 2X the resolution set in above step. (for example if your lcd is 1600x1200, then set 0003=3200 and 0004=2400)

    NOTE:  make sure you select decimal instead of hex before entering the values for above step 3 & 4.  Above fix assumes you have a relatively decent video card to support the high resolution.

    FFXI has probably one of the WORST registration process and GUI/control layout for a PC mmorpg...ever. But once you cut down this thick layer of frustration and get used to it, you will discover a very deep, rich and involving mmorpg that's leagues beyond the current mindless zombie wow-clones out there.     i personnally feel the graphic still beats games like Vanguard.

    I mean do you like vanguard where the graphic is still blocky all over? While FFXI you will rarely find any blocky/pointy out of place edges.

    Just the detail on the characters model itself is already astonish.

    lol thanks guys...found the config changed the graphics to the best +aa to 4x af to 16 and im gona do the regedit and the graphics were very nice. i logged in for like 5 minutes and changed the keyboard so everythings working now..had to update for like 3 hours so i didnt get to play but im about to today
