2 years ago this evening was the eve of the NGE. On that final night my friends and I gathered together on Teamspeak for one last time to talk over old times. We each poured ourselves a drink and gave a toast to ourselves and the wonderful community we had.
Tonight I'll pour myself a scotch and toast those old friends again, and drink to the future where a game will once again fulfill the desire which many of us crave.
Lastly I'll give a /cheers to all of my fellow vets. I hope are paths cross again in another virtual world.

The bastards that did this to us are soon going to get theirs. For example, SOE barely has more subscribers across ALL their games than the 254K of us they so cavalierly abandoned that terrible day 2 years ago.
Besides, I look for things between LEC and SOE to implode any day now, once it sinks in to SOE that they aren't going to get jack from the KOTOR MMO.
When that happens, I will feel sorry only for the 24K or so NGE fanbois who actually like that game. It sucks to lose your game, having had it happen to me twice, I wish that on no one.

WTH does it bother you what other people think? If it doesn't apply to you then move along. There are still people upset about E&B even though very few were left playing it. I never played it but more power to them if they still have passion for something they liked. Leave it alone, its not for you to judge.

I'm not the kind of person to discard my friends so quickly. It is them that I remember, and what they brought to the game for me. It is about the future and meeting those like-minded people again.
If that is something that you think people should move on from then I actually pity you.
I know that there is a lot of disgust with SOE and the NGE. Obviously it still stings even to this day. The best advice I can give is for you to remember...It was the community that made the game so good, not the game that made the community so good. The community is still out there, they are still playing MMORPGs, just now more dilute amongst several games. Keep in contact or get in touch, talk amongst yourselves what you want to play next and get back into a new game together. I wager the NGE pain will fade with time, but its time to let it fade.

Not sure if it was the gameplay, the fact that it was my first MMO, that it was Star Wars, or all 3, but Pre CU SWG is still sorely missed. If it had fizzled over the years would have been one thing, but the ill will SOE sparked will last on past fifty "good" releases and it is a massive object lesson. Bringing it back on Classic servers, doing a rollback, or making a KOTORO sandbox will never undo the damage SOE did to themselves, and I'm glad people continue to remember. Shills and yesmen believe customers are stupid and have short memories, let the NGE backlash stand as a monument for many more years to the power of the consumer. /raiseglass
Well, I for one am glad people are vocal about stuff like this. I like seeing people stand up for things they believe in, and I don't mean about a game but about making unwanted changes to a game when people pay a subscription to it.
Apathy with regards to consumer rights in the face of huge corporate greed is a dangerous thing IMO. Even if it's 2 years later I think its still important for people to speak up until there is some kind of reparation made.
2 years later and I do not find it amusing that people will support and encourage this kind of behaviour from a company. Remember, it's always funny until it happens to you.

Of course I'm long past hope of us ever getting our game back. But it is still within our power to sink SOE.
the problem is that there IS NO GAME that has the features and the feel of old SWG. I've gone from game to game to game looking for that "feel" and have found NOTHING.
Not to mention that most of the games out there are phantasy, and I've HAD IT with orcs/elves.
SWG was a unique game...there hasn't been anything like it since. THAT'S the problem.
Even CU was better than NGE. That was doable. But taking something as rich as SWG and boiling it down into a poorly implemented WoW clone is a travesty.

I know I did not get all of you. To my regret, I only have two old membership lists to work from, plus an admittedly faulty memory.
All of you, I miss you. Some of you split off before I ever became Fated's leader, others left while I was in the hot seat. Yet others simply stopped playing, mostly when the CU hit, the rest with the NGE. We had some good times together. Hope you are all well.
At last count (today) Fated SWG is down to 4 actives. Great going, SOE.

Nice Linna, it's funny when I was on Bloodfin I thought I was missing out on the action of some of the bigger servers, but I find that sense of community was very common on BF. Nice to know even now that I shared in a little part of it while it lasted

feel sorry for current player who come here and complain about vets who lost their game. They don't have nothing to enjoy ingame and they have tons of time left unlike us who really loved the game PRE CU/NGE and really busy in enjoy SWG .

While 200k people may have been screwed over from the NGE, not all of those 200k are still emotional (emo) over the loss.
The worst of those 200k are those that are still subbing...paying SOE money and not happy.
I'd be more than happy to play something else, if there were anything comparable.

2 years ago on the eve of the cunge i sat with my guild on bloodfin saying our good byes.
2 years ago i not only lost the game i payed for but a lot of good friends, I still keep in contact with a few but its not the same.
2 years ago i had something taken from me that i payed for.
a few months ago i put 30 mil in the guildhall as i don't think ill be going back, maybe on a vet trial we r due for one soon this year maybe or next year lol..
