Don't mean to hi jack but this will bump this post as well.

I have the same question as Ynyror. But I have a slightly different situation as I'm on Verizon Wireless Broadband. Ping is better than satellite, the signal doesnt have to travel as far, but same general question.

Is Tabula Rasa ping based like say BF2142, or counter strike?

I can play Hellgate: London alright, I average around 200-300 ms. So there is a slight lag but its managable. Would Tabula Rasa be close to the same? If it is I'll probably pick it up.

Not sure if this will help but I am in Oregon with cable internet.  I am playing on one of the west coast servers (not sure of location of server) and I average about 300ms before the patch today.  After the patch I am around 29-89ms.

I have a friend in the military who plays "TR" on through a satellite connection and he has problems off and on. His performance is not like mine (I have a cable connection) and he seems to have a lot of latency issues when groups go over 6 people.

I think the game is playeable but you may have some performace issues based on your connection's upload and download speeds.

I wouldn't even want to try run TR (or any other MMO) over a satellite link, the latency would be dire, ping times horrible, and you'd end up waking up dead more often than you would like.

however, if you are a glutton for punishment, go for it.

I play  WOW, EQ2 SWG, Ao RF online, and a few in Beta that i can say just fins , yea sometimes i  see a bit of lag between spells and stuff  not too much  Its not like server side tracking is like CS or BF1942 or something. I never just wake  up dead. And i never go linkdead . My question is how fast is the serve side tracking,, more like CS or more like wow,.

I know the ping sucks on Sat but some server side tracking is less spot on (for lack of a better word) then others. I see a bit more lag in wow playing melee then a spell caster  and in  the rest of the games I really cant notice  any  lag in open areas.

Hell the betas im playing  i never notice stuff unless they are testing things in a closed off area.

    Thanks for all you remarks.
