Skill and stat points?

jimsmith08jimsmith08 Member Posts: 1,039

Quick question:

How does the builds system work in TR?

From beta Im sure I remember putting points into skills to make them better, but everything else has vanished from my brain..I only played briefly, about 3 months ago.

You get stat points to pump into health, dexterity or whatever too dont you?And is it possible to make different 'builds' of each class, for example,a spy who specializes in one area whilst another spy performs differently?

Thanks.

Three attributes are Body (health & power), Mind (power & regeneration) and Spirit (regeneration & health).

They say that when you increase the level of an ability that it'll change, but I've only noticed this with Lightning, but then again I've only ever looked at the Grenedier tree.

Skills give a plus to various bonuses and allow you to use different armor/weapons.

Increasing the level of a skill will change some of the skills, others it was just increase the duration or the damage done. For instance, Biotech has a buff, each level of the skill will buff a different attribute, for the injector gun, each level of the skill adds an additional 10% damage etc. So you have to pay attention and read the descriptions of each before you allocate your points.

Here are a few useful resources when thinking about builds.

It is possible to focus on slightly different things.  For example a Medic can be more offensive and put more points into firearms, leech and injector guns, or they can max out tools and their protective abilities for more of a support build.

You can read up on ability levels in game or on the web.  If I don't feel like logging in to check (meaning I'm at work and can't), I'll use TR Stratics to check what all the different pump levels change.

Then you can use these to character builders to play with the points in various skills.  Unfortunately neither builder has the complete list of descriptions yet, which is why you need Stratics to check abilities for each class.

    Phaleux Character Builder
