It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Is AoC combat going to be similure to HGL?

Is AoC combat going to have that FPS, click to attack, feel to it like Hellgate london?

Also,  with the combat system being the way it is,  Will it be able to be played on a controller?  Like a dual analog / 360 controller.

Yes and no. For the most part no, but ranged attacks are FPSish, although at a slower pace than one gets in HGL

Yes, a number of devs actually prefer playing it on a console controller, and the game is also being developed for the Xbox 360.

Yes the whole fact that it is being developed for the 360 makes me reluctant to play.  As an experienced MMO and console gamer I can tell you that the console community is extremely young and annoying.  However, the controller for the combat will be a nice touch.  Only time will tell I suppose.

Yeah, concerning the 360 community, PC players won't have to deal with them period for at least 6 months. After that, the original servers will be more than likely left well enough alone, with new ones being added as 360 only and 360/PC mix.

Interesting you should mention that.  One website that gets exclusive interviews from Funcom says different.  http://www.totalvideogames.com/news/Conan_Slips_Into_2008_11969_6095_0.htm  They are showing a XBox 360 release date of March 25, 2008.  If they do have a same release date or even within the same 90 day window, I won't be a happy camper.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Most reputable retailers have a release date on their websites for the 360 version as March 25th 2008.

Alot just haven't updated or just stuck that date in with the 360 version for a space filler. Its anyones guess right now, but it has always been stated 360 version will follow the PC version and the game was designed as a PC game first and foremost. That interview was back in August, much more has been mentioned since. Most likely wrote right after the announcement of the delay and then not changed since.

To be honest your gonna get your PC AoC anyway, whats the point not be happy. Hasn't effected the release of the PC version in anyway.

After PC game launches, developers and coders move across to the 360 version to work on that, ots been said lots.

Just my own conspiracy theory, but...

I feel that M$ is carrying the costs of AoC atm and M$ has a vested interest in a single launch for AoC.  If the XBox 360 version launches anywhere close to the same time as the PC version, then we will all know that the real reason for the delay was for M$ benefit.  IMHO, this entire delay this is for a co-release of PC/XBox 360 and to buy time to finish crafting and that is why we haven't seen anything on it.  The point is, if my theory proves to hold any water, it will just mean we were lied to by the devs. Saying that, the fanbois will spin it as "things can and do change before release" so there is no way they could have lied.

Anyway, that is my conspiracy theory and I'm sticking to it.  LOL

They've said very recently that the Xbox version will come later than the PC-version.. At how much, he didn't mention tho, but IIRC, the release date for the console version was supposed to be around March 08 when the release date was still October 07..

Ah, and to stay somewhat on topic, only parts of ranged combat will be "FPS like". You also have the cone attack that will allow you to fight ranged without being in "sniper view"...

Most of the ranged combat stances see the action shift into a kind of first person view. The camera zooms into an over the shoulder or first person view and displays a targeting crosshairs. Here you aim with your weapon, and fire towards advancing opponents much like you might find in a FPS game (but not quite as fast-paced). This serves to try and bring the player "there", into the action, and into the world.

Better than 13, well, usually at any rate.

I worry that the game is also being developed for the 360. In my experience that tends to dumb down the game for the console crowd, who on average play console games because they are too immature to last in a continuous world.

yea this scares me too. it was mentioned earlier that it was developed 1st and foremost as a pc game then will be ported to the 360 so thats comforting at least. i take from that  if theres any sacrifices to be made to the game it will be to the 360 version  while the pc version will be just as the devs envisioned.

If you guy's do even the slightest bit of digging about the actual game You may understand a little bit more.

Sorry but the saying here goes stupid questions get stupid answers. If you cast judgment about the game when you don't have the slightest clue even about the various systems in the game...well...I'm not gonna correct the ignorance I see here. Figure it out for yourselfs. One simple check on AoC would suffice. But of course that would have been a smarter course and it appears we have already begun on the downhill roll of what is known as stupidity.
