I so much prefore L2 am I the only one that hates World of Warcraft??? L2 all the way!
So please tell me WoW fans what is your craze on this game??
It is so cartoony and the graphics are terrible. I did not like this game at all enjoy it for the first few hours then I got bored.
Not being nasty or anything to Blizzard. Please reply WoW fans what is the addictive side of this game?

Achievements. After you jammed your way through the boring grinding, gankers and pointless quests and hit the maximum level top you can start collecting and achieving gear. Luckily for those who still like WoW, there is plenty of end-game entertainment. When you finally got your whole epic set collected, a new expansion will be launched so you can start all over again. Blizzard must be thankful for all those players who keep purchasing game time so they can achieve more things which will be useless after a few months. Ta-daa, the magic of addiction.
Because, for many people, it was their first MMO...
and it was their first MMO because it was in a completely useable state on release. I mean seriously you needed to be a MMO fanboy to seriously consider playing any MMO.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
Down with Wow....

Exactly why most mmos fail, only need to look at the degenerated comments on this site. Unlike blizzard most mmo developers post on these forums and take opinions from all the hypocrits and delusional people on this site and look at the end results, Vanguard, lotro, fury,g&h, only tim will tell what happens to war and aoc.
thankfully blizzrad stopped using this site along time ago. Maybe Aventurine have also gone the correct route and release as little info as possible so all the whining bitches dont dilute what they are trying to do, maybe.
Well first of all, WoW runs great for everyone, it doesn't require a whole lot of CPU power to run great. Secondly the player base is huge for WoW, an MMO with few players easily gets boring because the players is what makes an MMO. Thirdly there's a load of content in it and it just seems like it's a well planned game through the entire grind period and the end game.
The game itself is simple, but it can be made advanced with addons created to make the game exactly what you want it to be, if it wasn't for all the countless addons I'd hate WoW too, but the ability to create and use addons is something you don't find in most MMOs.
I am:
Aserhe - Twi'lek - Scylla Galaxy (swg) [canceled]
Exar - Dark Elf - Lucan D'lere (eq2) [canceled]
Narlash - Night Elf - Emerald Dream (wow) [Active]
Up with people ...
For those whom WoW was not our first good MMO, it only takes 2 to 3 months to expose the problems.
Lol it takes 3 years for people to realise they don't like something? Please don't make me laugh, just please. This is actually how stupid people on this site are, if any developer actually took any notice of anything on this site, no game would ever be made again.
Maybe, maybe not. It's true for me.
@ the previous poster. WoW is a game that gets you addicted and once that addiction strikes, the only way to get away from it, is to get sick of yourself. Getting sick of yourself is something that takes time to develop. Playing hardcore raids as a MT and occasional raidleader did that for me, after about 2 years.
I enjoyed the people, I enjoyed the progressing through the levels with my friends, but the end-game is a game for people that enjoy gambling. It's a gambling game.
How's this for reasons:
It is stable and performs well on lower end computers.
It has significant audio and graphical appeal to many people.
It has a very clean, intuitive user interface which can be customized by the player base.
It follows the general gameplay formula of other successfull MMORPGs (Quests, Tasks, Lore, Level Based Progression)
It has what many feel is deep and engaging lore driven by other successful games created by Blizzard.
It has raid content.
It has varied PvP content and incentivized participation in the form of awards and items.
Character progression is reasonably fast paced, allowing quicker access to game content.
Death penalties are not severe and options for long distance travel are available, thereby encouraging players to access the game content, rather than discourage or prevent it.
Character customizability through various skill selection options.
Large gaming world with plentiful content.
If you don't like these features in a game, then yes, this game is not for you and you won't enjoy it. Also, if you don't agree the game contains these features, then this game is not for you. Many millions of other gamers like the game for many of the reasons above. If you don't agree there are many millions playing the game and enjoying it, then you are misguided or being intellectually dishonest.

Lol please don't try and act all higher than everyone else. Alot of people that play wow are people from EQ 1, swg, Daoc etc. You think these games populations just magically managed to vanish and they arnt playing any mmo anymore? Let me tell you Daoc has huge freaking problems, along with every old mmo out there that's why their populations are so freaking small. Their problems vastly out way anything that is wrong with wow.
You want to know what the real problem is, its people that call themselves so called old time hardcore vets. If alot of you dont think there is problems with the old mmo's like Daoc then sorry most of you have real problems, go read proper forums dedicated to Daoc and, not this site along with sites dedicated to the other games then you may get an actual picture the problems with these other games.
So please dont start saying you are so old school and hardcore that wow is beneath you and your so cool.
What troubles me is how someone can play a game for 9 days and learn to "hate" it with such passion.
It's called interpunction and spelling. If you are a WoW player, and you seem to be, I'd say you make a perfect example of the average of the server.

Speak for yourself!
Pre-Trammel UO vet, Pre-CU SWG vet and I still played WoW from the first week it came out till about a month and a half ago.
And WoW doesn't suck, in my opinion it's actually a really good game. As with all things in life you can only tolerate so much of one thing, even if it's a very good thing.

I didn't say the old games didn't have problems. I simply meant that if WoW was your first MMO then you might not know anything different (edited). It simply gives you something to compare it to. Do I still play EQ or DAOC, no, but at a certain time they were fun to play in spite of their problems because there simply wasn't anything else out there to play. Today I have so many choices I don't see the point in wasting my time on what to me are boring (WoW) or ill concieved games (Vanguard). If WoW were your first MMO I can definitely see why a new player might stick with it because they simply don't know any thing different and honestly I believe WoW is a great first MMO. There was a day when just getting to play online was a thrill, but those days are past for me, I need something more. I wasn't insulting anyone or putting anyone down.
What I like about wow is - they spent an incredible amount of time, money, resources and effort developing a fun game that can be played casually or hardcore. They concentrated on playability over graphics - although the graphics are good. Blizzard is constantly adjusting to make the game better. They good support and a well rounded game all the way around. If you didn't like it after 9 days - did you try each class? I can definatly say after playing 5+ classes through 60+ and 2 to 70, I raided hardcore for 2+ yrs as well - that the class can make all the difference. If you want something fun that will suck you into the game - try a hunter. The hunter is not the best end game pve raiding class by far but, they are the most fun if you are just solo'n and trying out the game (not to say they aren't great end game but, they are the least sought out due to the sheer amount of them - still good ones are hard to find - trying to avoid hunter flamage as I personally love to play em). If you want useful end game and fun to level - I'd try a mage out - those are damn fun and crazy useful end game and pvp or a druid!
Now if you picked warrior, pallidin, or priest - they are slow to level (although they get funner way down the line) I could see them being boring early on...
No offense to any o' the classes mentioned...
I played L2 for 6 seconds and the graphics were horrible, quests sucked and it was too cartoony. Seriously, go play a REAL game.
Here's a similar thread. Lots of reasons in it.
http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/150804
Perhaps you could tell us a few reasons why you like L2? You've already mentioned the graphics, but lots of people actually like the graphics in WoW. What else?
i work with kids that play pokemon and some older that play magic, most of people under 20's love wow carton graphics, for 95% of the kids i know that play wow it was their first mmorpg, still is. I played wow too for a couple of months wasn't the cartonish graphics that killed me, but the poor graphics engine quality, its like you have 3 or 4 papers you cut them and paint and make an char from there. many things are not even 3D the world is static, water don't move, grass don't move, no shadows. very poor enviroment.
Any number of things. Usability for one. Fun to play, for another.
The graphics are a matter of opinion. I happen to love the WoW graphics. Some of my buddies keep telling me how much better the graphics are in EQ2 (we've all played both). I agree that they are higher quality in EQ2, but I don't like the style. When I first played EQ2 and got to Antonica I thought I was running around in England. To me, that isn't fun. Yes, it's more realistic, but that's not what I want from a "fantasy" game. In any cas,e I really like the style of the WoW graphics, and to some degree, there's not much else to be said. If you don't like them, that probably won't change for you, no matter what anyone else says.
That aside, it's just a lot of fun to play.

Very subjective imo, I've passed the 2's already but I still prefer WoW's graphics over any of the more "Technically" superior graphics games. They tend to have a pellete from Light brown to dark brown and the more realistic they try to be the more obvious it is in the points they don't succeed.
The artistic style worked into WoW trumps anything the realistic MMO's tried so far in my opinion.

Well you're right about the grass, but the water does appear to move although not that realistically but there are waterfalls and things of that nature that look pretty good. There are shadows for a lot of things although by default they are turned off for faster display, but you can enable them. And you didn't seem to notice that there are birds that fly around in the air, snakes and frogs and other tiny creatures that move throughout the areas, in fact some of the mobs will chase and kill small creatures. There's rain and snow. There's torches and camp fires and whatnot that appear to flicker and move. Children run and play. NPC's carry on conversations. Vendors stroll thru IF hawking their wares. The world may not look all that realistic (cartoony as some call it), but it's not as static as you make it out to be either. There's plenty going on if you take the time to actually stop and look.
Technology just wasn't good enough yet to pull off realistic looking graphics in an MMO yet and still cater to a large enough user base. There are some really nice aspects here and there in a handful of games that shoot for realism, but it only accentuates the flaws in the game because they try to look realistic. Stretched textures, bad animations, plastic faces/hair, dull color pallets, over use of mip/bump mapping, bad performance, etc etc.
Conan looks promising though so time will tell.
