AoC for xbox 360

StellosStellos Member UncommonPosts: 1,491

The more I think about it the more I really despise the fact that AoC will release for 360.  I play 360 A LOT.  So why am I not a fan of this release.  Simple, I know the type of gamers that play console games.  They in general, are extremely young and immature.  Many just play to grief play.  What do you guys think?  Most importantly, those who play team based games on 360 who know what I mean when I say these players are immature what do you think about this?

ima big console fan, ive played 2 of the basicly only mabey 3 MMOs on consoles EQOA and FFXI. i also played PSU. now at first u defnitly got the asshat bad part of the community, but after they find out they hafta pay monthly fees and XBL they bitch...and leave. PSU during beta was horrible, but right as the main game came out they mostly went away, the asshats dont usualy wanna spend money to harrass ppl just to get kicked out. trust me after the first couple months the asshats will subside and a fresh set of newbies who ACTUALLY wanna play will stay and enjoy. you just hafta relize there will be douches and kiddies no matter console or PC side, look at WoW they a horrid community but ppl deal w/ it anyway, and hopefully the M rating can skim off some kiddies anyway.

Some statistics still speak for themselves.

The average age of the most frequent game buyer is 38 years old. In 2007, 92 percent of computer game buyers and 80 percent of console game buyers were over the age of 18.

Similar results from the European equilivent too.

Now factor in that this is an mmo, with monthly subs and not a racing car game.

Is this when the immature != age discussion starts up again? :)

Well, I hope you'll be able to play on all servers with each version, it could be fun to try AoC on Xbox, but I wouldn't do this if I couldn't play my "PC-character".. But, since the release of the Xbox version is much later than the PC version (although somebody on these forums had a conspiracy theory about this:P), I think the initial servers will be full when the Xbox version is released, and since I'll be playing the game from release, I doubt I'll see many Xbox gamers..

I agree with those of you who think the real jerks will leave due to the fee.  This is great, but I still don't like the idea about having an MMO on console.   I suppose it's just because I can't see it working.  We'll see how it goes, but I just hope Funcom is focusing more on the development of a great MMO oppose to being one of the first to release a true MMORPG for both PC and Console.  It's hard for me to swallow the idea of FF XI as a true MMO sorry for those who like this game.

    This statistic says nothing.

As you probably know the parents buy the consoles and games for their kids. Not the kids themselves. And the statistic doesn't show how many parents are buying games and consoles for their kids. My guess would be like 70%.

The decision to port AOC to consoles is definitely a mistake but I think for a different reason. The  player base doesn't worry me it's the hardware platforms. The Xbox360/PS3 currenly have about 1/3 the graphics processing power of a high end gaming PC which is going to limit not only how good the game looks and plays, but also how inovative the devs can be with the game in general. Also the hardware platforms for consoles are stagnant which means you can forget about any future graphics updates for the game as PC hardware advances. Let's all hope that the devs keep both the PC and console versions of the game completely seperate (including the servers).

Well, even if porting to the console were to somehow bring a massive influx of 'children' to the game I would not fear them...as I'm a huge, sword wielding Barbarian and I will smite them should they begin to annoy me.

Seriously guys.... there's nothing to be afraid of..... you can come out now .....

What percentage of homes have computers, I would guess 95%, by your theory, that means alot more kids play on computer than xbox. Which means pc are the breeding ground for kids, just look at WoW, that place is a freaking breeding ground for kiddies, about 9 million of them, that is a fact.
