Very nice screen shots. However one thing appears to be absent from the battle graphics (at least the ones I've see) is copious amounts of smoke. Those guns used black power which created phenomenal amounts of smoke. So much so that it often obscured the ships from seeing each other. Maybe it's a small point, but in a game where so much attention has been paid to details, it seems like an oversight to ignore something that could so dramatically influence the outcome of a battle.
Can't wait for the game to come out. It's a welcome change from killing orcs.
That seems like one of the areas where playability takes precedence over realism. What you describe as a feature was probably assessed as something most players would see as a hindrance, especially if it influenced the outcome of the battle. Players would just clamour for the removal of the smoke or find ways to do it on their own.

I believe there is smoke in the game, but not lots of it!

To start with I would probably also think that there are some more game play relevant features that would be better to tweak than smoke effects. It could always be added to the game in a patch/expansion later on, when hardware has evolved and if there is a strong demand for the feature.

Smoke absolutely kills performance. We can do it, but you'd need a machine that runs Crysis smoothly to make it playable.
