Very Good DAOC experience. Another Reason to Join

Ok, about 5 years ago or whenever it first came out, I began playing DAOC. It was very exciting but unfortunately I didn't have money at the time so I couldn't keep paying for the subscription. Well about 2 months ago I got a craving for a good MMORPG after getting sick of WoW. I decided to go back to DAOC, let me tell you it was a very, very good choice.

Much had changed when I entered the world. I made a new character and worked my way up to level 5, which is where you choose your profession. I asked around and everyone was very helpful and suggested I start a new character since I wanted to be a mercenary and I had chosen a bad race, a Highlander or Half Ogre being a better choice if I wanted to be a killing machine in RvR. It doesn't take long to level and soon I was on the right track. Around level 8, I was asking help for something or other and a random guy walks up and shows me what to do. He then proceeds to give me 200 gold and buys me a full set of armor and a nice weapon, messaging "Hope you stay on DAOC for awhile".

There are so many helpful people who want DAOC to stay alive. I easily found a guild, RvR is a blast, you get a horse at level 10, it isn't difficult to level. START PLAYING!!

P.S. Yes this is my first post, I tend to lurk :)

Man, I keep wanting to go back. Maybe I will.

And I agree 100% on the community, it's the best I've ever had the pleasure of playing with. I started playing at release (lord, I was only 11!), and the community was amazing. I guess it's time to come back.

Yeah, I kept saying "maybe I should go back". Kick yourself in the ass and do it.

I'd still be playing if the population on Mordred wasn't gone..... I tried the classic servers but it just wasn't as much fun as my time on Dred.....

Are the servers still linked? That was the biggest issue for me (apart from the WoW addiction oO), as I hated Pellinor being linked with other servers.

Clustered is the DAOC term...and yes, even more so than you remembered..... though most folks are happy to have access to more players.

That's Mordred's issue.... being the only FFA PVP server they can't cluster it with anyone...so normal population on most days was 150 or so back when I returned last December....

Although it is a great time to head back to DAOC, dont do it to relive old memories. There are a whole bunch of new memories to be made on this game. It may not be the biggest MMORPG on the block, but it has that 'X' factor that many many of todays MMORPGs wish they had.

    Coming back as well!

I am from Denmark, but right now sitting in Wales with a shitty old Labtop that would have trouble playing pacman! I get back to Denmark by December 14 - and then I will start up my powerplant of a PC and re-install DAoC. Prolly before saying hello to the wife!  (Ok, maybe not LOL )

DAoC is dead. WAR will be the nail that does her in. R.I.P.

    Long Live EVE Online.

I actually believe that DAoC will be able to run sidelong with WAR.. But maybe as Free2Play, since both games are run by same company.. "Buy WAR and get DAoC for free" -kinda deal... DAoC is a bit more hardcore RvR than WAR will be. WAR will cater to the people that arent really all that much into RvR yet - and give them a kind of easy exposure to it, so they will get used to it. In DAoC there is no such thing. You get owned 10 times in a row if you dont know how to play your char.. Lets just hope that the ones playing WAR will eventually realize the true potential of DAoC

I agree with the above poster. Making DAOC F2P (or free daoc account with WAR account) while the company focuses on WAR allows players to do something different  should they want a break from war, yet the company keeps the playerbase in thier system.

Its a good marketing move, IMHO

Yes i will prob try WAR if AoC doesn't launch at the same time. And would like to try this gem called DaoC that I have never touched. I think more companies should go with the SOE pass model, where if you have multiple MMO games, offer us customers some reward/discount for playing your other MMO's since we are helping your buisness.

How is the playerbase on the FFA PVP server? There is two good pvp games out there and DaoC is one of them, the other one is UO..

Both of them is missing a good player base to be any fun. No fun running around in dungeons totally alone

Sadly WAR been pushed back to Q2 2008 and im guessing it wont be released before August 2008..

DF is no idea to mention even yet, maby chistmas next year if we are lucky..
