What happened here? Las thing I heard, been a bit , was that this game was in beta and was bad and would fail, doom blah doom blah doom blah. Now it is rated at 8.5?? what happened?

apparently its got alot better since beta, been doing quite will. I have a couple of friends who are playing it and they say its alot of fun. Dont think i will try it though, not my cup of tea.
What happened was; they used the BETA to fix bugs, test content and improve the game. Then they released a decent game. Now people are trying it and enjoying it.
Now what will happen in this thread is the same 5 or 6 trolls will come along and say:
1) LOL it's still in beta for the next 6 moths
2) TR fails
3) Go play X, Y, Z because TR is just copying their ideas.
4) It's too hard/easy and doesn't have good PvE/PvP/Raiding/etc
If you are interested ask for a 3 day key in the stickied thread. Otherwise just run, run from the troll infested place.
All i heard was poeple crying about how bad the game was in beta, well what do you expect of a beta stage game. Now if NCsoft didnt do any thing to fix the problems that the Trolls cried about that would be one thing. Obviously they fixed, and changed quiet a few things, this is like the 2nd thread i've read today from sone one who either tested the game in beta, or read some negative reviews from beta, and then come back and say is this game good. What happened.
This is just my 2 cents, or maybe im venting in a way, i just got so tired of hearing people say the game will fail, trolling, etc.

The games combat is the most engrossing I've ever played. The playfield is very dynamic and there is a draw in fighting for control points. Unlike a MMORPG labeled "warcraft" this is war-craft. Tactics and reflexes pay off, using your terrain to your advantage can turn the side of a fight.
I love it.
Playing: varies every day it seems.

Aralaz was not trolling. He is a fan of TR, and chose to come to this fan-forum and discuss it. This is a forum dedicated to the game TR, and you (And other so called trolls) are bashing it. Which, yes, makes you a troll. Why? Because if you don't like the game, there is only one reason why you would remain here - to piss everyone off who does like the game and finds enjoyment in it.
Not only that, but your post has no relevance to the game really, your just trying to make a point with Aralaz which is basically flame-bait AKA trolling.

First off I want to say to the Op, the game is not like the current system of games out there that are half baked "Raid" orientated or PvP centric game either. What the game is currently is a MMO based on having actual fun in a non hack and slash way (something SWG NGE could never pull off).
The game I would say has received a 8.5 due to the fact that it is not mimicing other traditional game (something other games are trying to follow also) where a certain class in a group is needed in order to be effective (have yet to find this predicument).
I will say, that the game is still in a developing sorta way but coming from Vanguard and EQ2 Venekor server, this game seems to have my attention absolutely (until better comes along). Is this game the end all be all "no it's not" is it a fun "non raid" game to play "yes it is".
If you wanna try the game out, I would wait until a key is out or provided to you by a friend to play as some people will down and dump on a game just because the "raid" aspect is not their or Orc/Goblins are missing.
P.S.
Of all the games I have bought/played after beta, this one seems to be the smmothiest in playing as I have not hit a major curb in my leveling time due to bugs or major quests I could not complete.
Reading that i cant wait until i can get a 3 day trial key, even tho i dont build up the most expectations for it but it seems so promising. Cant wait until my wow days are over and those with purple feva can admire them selfs.
In this case, I agree with Die_Scream heh. But, that's how the majority is here in this community. What's funny is I see the opposite at anywhere else...
As far as 8.5 goes, meh... scores hardly means anything, especially for mmos. Just try it, I suppose... I find that the scores for single-player games at any of the game sites are usually consistent and justifiable. The MMOs don't get that luxury...(And apparently, the cognitive dissonance theory prevails...)
My wife is loving TR. Looks totally awsome. I just wish I knew more about guilds and cities. She hasn't gotten that far in the game yet. I wish I could play it but my pc is throwing a fit for some reason...
As far as I can tell Die_Scream hasn't been trolling, nor has he stated that he believes the game is a steaming pile (which wouldn't be trolling). I'm waiting for my copy of TR to arrive with baited breath and am in danger of becoming a fantard myself. Meaning I jump on the back of every poster that doesn't sing TR's praises and apply for their official "TR Fantard Army ID Card".
Having said that there are trolls that Aralaz mentioned, they come in tell everyone the game is a steaming pile and give no real reason. Or the reason seems to be false probably because they played for a very short time and got no further than level 10. I've seen many opinions that were obviously based on Beta experiences, even I know this from watching all the Beta walkthrough videos and reading what current players are experiencing.
However this will always happen in these forums but I don't believe Die is guilty of trolling. Does TR deserve 8.5? I haven't tried it yet so haven't given my own rating, hope to be ingame by next month.

I agree, the game is ok, just so so, not really worth 8.5 if other games here are only rate 8.0 or less.There is nothing bad about it, nor is there something very good that pulls me in. I watch people play at various levels, I tried out a newbie alt, I saw people in the game talk about endgame, The game seems to be nice diversion from elven bows and dwarven hammers but again that is about all that it is. Nothing ground breaking.

This is really simple. The game has less than 350 reviews, a lot of them would be from fanbois and a lot are from people who haven't made it to the much buggier content at higher levels yet.
It will not stay at 8.5. As more reviews pour in and some people re-evaluate their rating when they see that despite the fun, TR just isn't very deep at this point, it will start sliding down. They spent the last part of beta ignoring everything but the first few zones, so the game makes a good first impression. And it is fun to play. BUT, it doesn't change all that much as you level, so the repetitive gameplay will drop a few tenths off of some ratings.
With only 350 reviews, it doesn't take that many organized fans to artificially inflate a score.
I have issues with TR launching 3 months too early (conservative estimate). I have issues with it not really being a deep, full-fledged MMO but being priced at the standard $15/month. However, it is far from the unmitigated disaster it could have been (that award goes to Hellgate) with the rushed release. It won't stay at 8.5, but hopefully the devs will get their acts together and get the game in ready-to ship form before the score drops too low.
My experience with TR has been quite positive. It falls under the same gameplay experience as games like CoX and AA. Quick, accessable, right to the point style play without to much time devoted to side activities.
I think TR deserves an 8, maybe 8.5 because it delivers what its suppossed to. fast-paced combat and a sci-fi setting with decent lore behind it. There's not to much negative to say about TR as a MMO, though there isn't a lot to make it outstanding in the genre either.
Games usually dive or soar right after release, then things even out over time. My guess is TR will remain a steady 8.0 rating over the next few months. I mean it works, launch was good, and the gameplay is different enough that it should maintain its player base over the long haul.
Fanbois, the same way Roma victor was rated high for a minute, Dark n Light was rated high for a minute, etc.
Almost ever new game when it comes out or when its close to comming out will be like that.
I just cannot believe the game that I played in LATE beta has suddenly changed and become a very good game... Sorry I just will not buy into the fanboi "slop slop" fest. Maybe when they come out with like a 7 or 14 day trial so I can see for myself the major change, but untill then I just think its fanbois hyping up a barely decent game.

When favorite classes get nerfed, people strike back by lowering their ratings at sites like this. More sliding is inevitable, but the devs can still kill the game by making beta scale changes to a retail game, or by not fixing the higher level zones soon enough.
The final test is going to be what happens to scores once a lot of players start hitting the level cap. Bored 50s griefing the Concordia Wilderness players will hurt the game. And right now, there isn't much else for 50s to do.
TR is essentially a PvE game, but the "endgame" is built around PvE clan wars. It is hard to say exactly how the average TR fan is going to respond to that.

Also note how those other games grouped at 8.0 all rose to 8.1 at the exact sametime that TR dropped to 8.4. I believe we have a fanbois war taking place with the ratings, "TR is higher than the game I have devoted my life to, must raise rating, most lower evil MMO rating". That's my take on it anyway.
