Marvel Universe Online axed?

Current City of Heroes/Villains player here, so this rumor that swept my sg last night is of intrigue. I don't have the link--failed to write it down when it came across global chat--but supposedly, Microsoft has dropped funding for Cryptic Studios' "Marvel Universe Online", the Marvel Comics MMO. If true, it makes the sale of CoX to NCSoft that much more interesting--especially where the timing is concerned. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I, for one, won't cry much about the loss of MUO; CoX has enough "Wu1fer33n" and "sp1d3rm@n" to last me a lifetime already. Just curious to hear if there's anything more to this.
