Aight, excuse me for asking if this has been addressed else where. Anyways..
Hows the game world like? Is it like a typical MMORPG where you run around in a big world and have extra instances to fight in or is it like Hellgate london where it is just mini towns and single player/party instances.
In short,
is it world map based (instances are 'extra' dungeons)
or
instance based (many small instances connecting the places))
Comments
Tabula Rasa is WORLD BASED
Not only that. It uses the best most innovative system seen in MMOs up today.
World based games suffer from spawn camping ..right ?
Not in Tabula Rasa
World map has shards. What are shards ?
Shards are something like huge unlimited instances. You dont like shard 1, it is to buisy with players camping your spawn point. Then chose shard 2...etc
So
TR is WORLD BASED , but helps you avoid the bad side of world based games...
Perfect
hmm shard...so you mean there are different "game rooms" where players can choose which "shard" they want to go in?
If so...how many shards are there and how many players are usually in 1 shard.
Reason why i am asking is i have always been a competitive FPS gamer and i have also played many good mmorpg including wow. Right now, i am looking for a good game to go into, wow is boring. CS is old. Hellgate London is not the game i hoped for. So i need a good game.
It's a typical MMORPG with large zones. There are some instances, but they are more for story arc missions. The bulk of the strait up fighting will be done in the zone.
If you're looking for a strait up FPS game then this is not it. It's more of a hybrid third person shooter and MMORPG.
If you want a strait up massive multiplayer FPS then Planetside or World War 2 Online are for you. Planetside being more of an typical sci-fi shooter, with WW2OL being a hardcore simulation of infantry/tank/plane combat.
Tabula Rasa is in my opinion about 60% statics map and 40% instance. It's done so that main world works in statics map's, but when there is special "story" quest to some place, it can be instance. So quests can be into instance or to statics area.
Hope this helps.

Good question
First of SHARDS are not game rooms. Shards are servers inside servers.
Imagine it like this:
In WOW you have server named Cenarius , and you have server named Shattar - they both are WHOLE WORLDS and can hold up to 10000 people max.
If WOW would use shards you would have server named Azeroth with shards named Cenarius and Shattar.
In TR most of the players are in shard 1 , but if they see fit they can choose another emptier shard
