    3: To PWN noobs!

You really need to get out more my friend.   Perhaps stop playing MMO's completely, as it appears that they are effecting your mental wellbeing.

I voted no to the poll. Your opinion

TR will never be an alternative to SWG simply because the two dont have much in common.  Yes TR has nice up to date graphics, a combat system that puts NGE to shame. but its repetitive for those new or unexperianced with MMO's , non-socialable again for those new or unexperianced with MMO's , and down right boring after 15 levels. For people unexperianced and unaware how to play MMO's it might be so indeed  Trust me I tried it in beta. Beta could suck compared to a released game so very obvious you very new to this genre to base your opinion on a game on BETA

If you are looking for a quick fix alternative to single player shoot-em up's then TR is your game.   TR's world feels shallow and not alive. Trust ME you are playing it shallow and not REALLY playing it as you CAN NOT make the assumtion of shallow and not alive, that is if you really played hte release version

Its just a battlefield hub surrounded by battlefield instances. Let me ad ...if you are a shallow type of player then it is just that. There isn't a living, breathing world with a civilisation in it.  Its nice to look at, dont get me wrong.  But it misses some of the typical MMO aspects that make other games so attractive.

Lastly, if SOE were even going to consider rolling back SWG that time has long since past.  Forget it, move on.   Until another MMO comes out to directly challenge what SWG had and has now, then SWG will be its only competitor on the Sci-fi MMO market.  No others currently in development will come close yet.

But overall i can not and will not say that TR will be a replacement of SWG, as SWG was/is still more then any MMORPG on the market, regardless many things do not work how we like them to it's still has more options then any MMO to date....Crafting in SWG is still allot more in depth then TR's crafting , but TR crafting suites the game, this type of crafting would not fit TR as it was/is done in SWG, but TR's crafting could improve in many way's thats fact.

Only those who really play Tabula Rasa will understand the game, as many aspecialy those who don't seem to like it totaly underastimate the game, i have met many ingame people who thought the game sucked and was shallow, i myself considered TR in beta to be a shallow game, that was before i really started to play the game, same with those i met who really enjoy the game now, it also seems not many of the so called gamers are looking for fun in a game but it seems those who moan about these games are sort of looking for a online JOB to play or we have these new gen type of players who seem to get of on GRIND as that must satisfied them and when a game does not deliver GRIND for those individuals the game must suck, knowing how to challenge yourself with a game , seeing the depth and layout of the game, which at this moment allot of MMO's can learn from. Unless aperson is WOWEFIDE then no MMO will ever satisfied such person. Keep in mind i'm a GAMER who plays games to have fun and i am not looking for another online play/job. Tr is a fun MMO, but don't think it could replace what SWG was or is for many of us VETS and even current players, but, if you only into combat of SWG and nothing else TR might replace the COMBAT and is allot more fun then SWG's combat in my personal opinion, but overall it can not replace it for sure, Myself don't have hte time to play SWG in hte way i would like to play it and TR is a nice alternitive to have fun in a MMO, i don't consider TR to be suited for those 24/7 grind type of harcore pvp type players as they will get bored as thats thgeir playstyle doing that for them.

I played TR beta for months, right till release. It took me all of 2 days to come with a huge list of things I found negative and shallow about the gameplay. Getting to 36 didn't change my opinion. It's just a shooter in another disguise. If that's what you're looking for, be my guest, but I got bored of that 20 years ago.

At this moment, I'd say Pirates of the Burning Seas is the closest we'll get to the old SWG for some time to come. Read up on the stuff that's public knowledge, form your own judgement.

The elements I objected to are core gameplay elements, which have not changed, thx. I won't even go into the myriads of bugs. The argument 'you just played beta, you don't know' is one of the more ... interesting ones you see around, especially for a game that hasn't even been out a month. There has not been a miracle patch, The game has not changed overnight. I call it a shooter, because that is literally ALL you can do. Yes, there's a story line, but FPS games have that too. The crafting is a joke, certainly not something you could do full time. Clan and social tools are almost non-existent

I'm not saying that it's wrong to enjoy TR, but coming here advertising it as a replacement for OLD SWG is a tad silly.

Sorry Linna but please next time if you reply to me make sure you have read what i said

"But overall i can not and will not say that TR will be a replacement of SWG"

Also i asked a question and did not make a statement

"Besides another person who judge's the game on it's beta state?" <<<< see the question mark?

So if you have read my post YOU reply to you could have simply answered that instead of pretending i was making a statement. But then again i get kinda use to people unable to understand what they read.

Also i don't mind you seeing it like a shooter as that is your opinion, but i just want to let others know that it's nothing like a shooter, playing Crysis friday night, at the third chapter Relic thats a shooter, for me, last night i got myself to install Cod4 which i bought last week and damn the game looks/feels sweet, those are shooters for me, Cod is very linear but simply looks awesome, TR is nothing like them and i'm glad it is something totaly different then a shooter, as for a MMO it is fun, but like i said it can not be something that could replace the feel of what pre-cu SWG or even current SWG is, as i said before , before you tried to make something of my post i never meant or said.

If you do not want people to misinterpret your statements, then make them clearer, please. The only way that sentence with the question mark makes any sense, is as "Besides, another person who judges the game on the state it was in when in beta?" (unless you mean to say the game is still in a state of beta). Which sounds, at least to me, as if you are criticizing me for not playing in live, and thus not knowing what the current game looks like.

For your sentence to make sense as anything but a rhetorical question, it needs more interpunction, at least one more verb, some less ambiguous wording and a spelling check. It could also do with another sentence or two to give some context clarifying what you're talking about.

Please just re-read your posts a bit more carefully before you press Post. I'm told coffee helps too

Simply put: read and understand before you reply, then we both would have no need to continue this useless discussion cause clearly you not intrested in sharing answers but more intrested in spell checks

    FIXED.

Can't play the NGE mess anymore, and no amount of shilling will change that.....

    Thanks for the fix!!!

I was thinking the same thing as i was reading the origianl.

Seriously though, the only thing SWG has going for it is the SW part of the title.

Whilst i dont think TR is meant to be compared to, or a replacement for SWG, i guess they can and will be compared by fans of either game.

Im not out on revenge of Smedley or anything like that, im just trying out another game and so far i find it (TR) quite refreshing and at times exciting. ATM i dont take much notice of the Xp bar as im enjoying the grind and the story of the game. As for end game content well that remains to be seen, the game certainly has potential and a lot of good direction in which it can head.

I am also 1 of the millions of #1 Star Wars fans around the world, sadly the game i found in SWG- NGE terribly dissapointing even though i didnt go through the changes that everyone seems to hate SOE for... and despite being a fan of the legacy (hell no, not the quest lol), i felt it was poorly implemented into a game :(

    Everyones different!

    Cheers,

    Rexx

I bit the bullet and bought TR despite playing in beta where i found it fairly poor.

Wow is all i can say how much the game has come along in a short time. Im not gonna write a full review cos my english lit sucks.

bullet points that may appeal to swg vets.

Base bustin in the form of defending or taking back a cp this is dynamic spawn system so if you and 10 friends are in base and the bane attack they are coming with enough to give you a fight.

Community - despite there being a pvp element to it im finding the coomunity to be quite mature and friendly im unclanned yet find myself conversing all night

Damage types this is my personal fave throw back to pre-cu swg some mobs are immune to diff types other mobs are damaged harder by a certain weap type, using your rifle at 1m isnt gonna gain the dps a pistol can at that range and vice versa it forces you to think on your toes and makes combat exciting

I have played many mmo's since swg-pre-cu ie EQ2, wow, eve, coh/cov, guild wars and most recently VG and despite semi enjoying some i have never truly found any the had the fun factor the community and the sheer enjoyment of TR i once again log in to have fun and become that character not just to pass some time.

Now that's what I'm talking about, my copy of TR is in the post and with some luck I'll be turning Bane into fish bait this time next week. From what I've seen and been told by friends this game is fun with a capital F. It has elements of SWG but done better, they'll be making a new planet that I've heard could be a PvP planet. Also Mechs will become usable by players soon and not just NPCs, an AH has been introduced and new races will be introduced at somepoint in the future.

Yeah I know "the future clouded by the darkside it is" but hey the game is fun now and that's what kept me playing SWG pre-CU, not the hope it would become fun. Also so far Garriot hasn't been full of crap and tried to cheat me out of my money with common thievery, unlike a certain person we all know.

So to those of you that wish to rekindle the glory days by leaving the dead worlds of SWG for the new challenge on the packed frontline worlds of Tabula Rasa. It's time to tool up, ship out and go fry some crustys for breakfast. To those that would rather play SWG than TR, I hope you die in slow painfull agony like every game that's ever been put on the station launchpad.
