Hello,
Well I have been playing TR for a few days now and I have to admit I'm really enjoying it. Something different from the same rubbish of Orcs, Elves Gnome Dwarfes and general fantasy dullness that as took over the MMO Genre, ok some of you will disagree but I'm totally sick of seeing Dwarfs, Gnomes and the works in WoW clones. Make something a little different and you begin getting hate rating because it's different!, it seems. Personally the fact that I have been able to play this for more then 10 minutes and have a blast as been a great thing. I honestly can say that playing LOTRO I played 20 mins and got sick of it.... critise me for not playing enough but it was WoW in every single way.
I'm not denying the game as issues cause it does, personally I haven't come accross any lag although I haven't been in the ulta busy areas. The game as ran smooth so far. Combat is a blast and keeps you really involved! no more standing pressing slash with weapon or something, just don't run out of ammo when surounded by monsters . The game as great potential, I personally would love to see Housing in the game, though that is something for a year into development.... sort the problems out first! I'm likeing it so far, community is solid and helpful! I'm also not a heavy MMOer.... I don't like playing more then 2-3 hours so, TR seems nicely suited for this matter.
Question tho..... Wheres the official forums?
Comments
TR like many new games will be doing has opted for the player base to create their own forums (many cuz after seeing WoW's full of trolling, player bashing and whining)..
This and TTH.com seem to be the to the main places, both are looked at by devs and sometimes replied to.. However there is a feedback form and places to comment on news reports on the main site so it's still good
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
If you have a look on the community page of the Tabula Rasa website, you will see a list there
You have Stratics, IGNVault, and several others listed there. I have seen the Community Managers post on them on several occasions (and also read without posting)
A totally stupid decision IMO, as Vanguard found out the hard way.
Fansites are fine, but there needs to be--imo--a single point of contact for official posts, questions, etc..A totally stupid decision IMO, as Vanguard found out the hard way.

So far the DEVs of TR have been excellent about getting information out to the fan sites. I think I like it better that way. It means they are also following the fans of the game and what they say as well...at least for now.
I agree, not having official forums is likely a good thing - good choice TR
Its a cost cutting exercise. No forums to maintain = no forum gms to assign and no fees for setting one up. Plus for them they have lost the opportunity to manage their community and to build one which is the biggest loss. Having us scattered over several breaks the feeling of community and spirit.
I like the game that is why I play it, but this is a very poor decision.
No official forums means no official channels of communications to the game producers. Bad idea....

There is an official feedback form right here.
This goes direct to the devs, without the massive noise you get on a forum. If anyone has an issue, they can go right to the devs without worrying about getting flamed.
They also regularly update the TR launcher, their website and the fan forums with information back to the players.
I still believe that they have washed their hands of community management. The feedback form is alright but it cannot replace a central community hub organically fed by the players and nurtured by the forum admins.
As part of my monthly fee which I am paying at the same rate I would pay for any other competitive mmorpg that provides well managed official forums I would like an official forum.
The detachment people feel from the game and the community may actually harm their business in the end.
It wasn't the deciding factor when I canceled my account, but it did play a role. I need to have a certain amount of goodwill towards the game, and once my overall satisfaction drops below that level, I can't justify the expense anymore. For Tabula Rasa, it wasn't just the lack of forums, it wasn't just the potential of a big Rage nerf, it wasn't just that the gameplay was a bit too fast for me, or any other single thing. When you add those things up, though, the end result was a game that wasn't right for me. On a scale of 1 to 10, sure, gameplay is a 10 and official forums (for me) are a 2, but the absence of said forums isn't completely unimportant.
There have been some comments that official forums are overrun with problems, but I don't agree that such is always the case. City of Heroes has excellent official forums. Very little flaming takes place there, much information is discussed regarding builds, how to play particular classes, et cetera. There's even an entire section for player guides, which I've used frequently to answer my questions. Lord of the Rings Online also has very good official forums. It's easy to find Developer comments (which are made daily) using the dev tracker, there's a lot of information in the class forums, and it's much easier to find Kinships thanks to stickied threads in the server forums.
Official forums can be pits of abuse and complaints, but they don't have to be. Sure, moderators and setup fees cost money, but I really do find that money to be well spent. I like having a central hub to browse for ideas, a central location that's always active. Did the lack of that feature drive me away from Tabula Rasa? No, not specifically, but the absence sure didn't help to keep me around, either. I was wavering on the line between maintaining a subscription and canceling (I loved the world and the theme), and ultimately decided to cancel. It would've taken a couple of changes to keep me around, but official forums could've easily been one of those.
Now, obviously, not every game is for every player. This was a case where the game just wasn't for me, not a case of the game being "bad." I have to believe there are other players who are/were as close to that line as I was, though, perhaps even closer. Could official forums be the difference? Maybe, maybe not. I have to believe that the addition of official, moderated, organized forums would make the game a better overall package, however, and it's a little irritating to me that the people who made that particular decision concluded that dropping the service would be worth the savings.
It was a stupid move when vanguard did it, and it's a stupid move now. I don't care what reasoning they give, it still seems like an easy way to ignore your subscribers to me.

One of the most intelligent and decent posts on the Tabula forums.
Give them a chance, they need to spend the next year improving the game adding new content, perhaps they will think about adding an official forum later on, after they are satisfied the game is stable enough to devote some time to making one.
I kind of agree with that, although I would like a central base for discussion and other interesting aspects I'm willing to bet it's something we'll see in the near future.
I use to play SWG and spent many hours on their forums!
Don't hold your breath. They had a perfectly good official beta forum site that they canned as soon as the game went pay-to-beta. They could've easily continued running that site but they had decided that there would not be any offical forums. period. end of story.
this, and other fan-run sites are it
there is no official TR Forum.
