Jagex added a new duel system:
*This lowered the stake amount down to 3k...
*It also added new tournments, that after I tried are really hard but really fun ^.^
*Their update ruined staking pures because there is no level limit to the new update.
*They added a minigame highscores.

The 3K limit for 15 minutes is far too restrictive.
It should be changed to 100K.

The notion that graphics, or anything else for that matter, are anywhere near as important as gameplay/fun is so utterly ridiculous that anyone who shares such a view should be placed in an asylum.
The new tournaments are a great addition to the duel arena, but the $ cap on stakes is really awful, i don't mean just a little bad but i mean really really awful.. I mean like who staked 3k ever? not even noobs lol. I think having a cap on stakes period is the wrong approach to real world item trading. It seems to me like jagex is on a witch hunt and doesn't care about the innocent casualties in the process. I mean first they start mass banning for unbalanced trades.. then they try to force players into standing there like a cow being milked with the assist system .. rather than have friends drop off items and you make them what they need on your own time.. Now lets take all the risk out of staking...Next is the exchange, which at first I was really excited about but now that they are setting prices on items I am a bit concerned. The merchanting clans are already gearing up to buy up all of certain items and only sell on the street. Thus making it easier for them to do so when they can have all items in runescape in one place.. I thought it would be great at first because i am terrible at merchanting, and always take a loss when i sell things, but putting everything in one spot will also allow those with the most $ in runescape to be able to buy all .. and i mean all of a resource in runescape if they want. then set their own prices. And yea it may be hard to believe but there are merchanting clans and even worse they have most of the pixel gold in the whole game. I hope jagex is planning to counter that somehow. I have already heard alot of them saying they will not be selling anything in the exchange. I hope jagex has taken all of that into consideration with the upcoming update.
On topic they did good with that update apart from the amount you stake lowered to 3k.
?
Yea.. merchanting clans ..runescape has clans for everything, And they have been price manipulating for years.. the exchange will just make alot less work for them when they go to buy up items. but back on the duel subject, yea I love the tournament system.. but the cap on stakes is the worst update ever... and I don't even stake, just know alot of people that is all they do. ( i'm a wildy kind of girl myself) Though the only good I see from it is that more people will be in the wildy fighting I hope... and that is good because it has been so deserted in recent times, though for the people that spent alot of time making staking pures it pretty much took all the fun out of the game for them.
Tinfoil hat much?
Seriously, these accusations of various clans "price manipulating" are ridiculous. There have been occasional incidents of specific individuals attempting to price manipulate, but no one person has enough money to force the market in the way they would need to make the prices raise/drop.
It's also clear that you don't understand the principles of supply and demand. If the item's price suddenly raises, then more people will start collecting that item and the price will drop again. Merchanters could buy them all... but not forever. Eventually their money will run out.
This is all very basic economics, and it always frustrates me when people run around screaming "it's the end of the game!" like they do after EVERY update. The game is bigger than ever, and there have been updates far more destructive than the Exchange.
I, for one, am just glad that I'm no longer required to stand around in a market or bank spamming sales, travel all over the world and across all servers, and browse forums all at the same time for hours and hours... just to sell a single item. It simply isn't worth it. The Exchange will be an amazing addition to an already amazing game, and I welcome it with open arms.

You know it is entertaining how people can have things happening right in front of them and not even notice. These are not accusations, this is what I have been told by 2 merchant clan leaders one clan is 200+ members the other has over 400 members.. I have seen them in action, they make me sick tbh, buying up all of items and then monoplizing it over the years, No it isn't one person.. these people have more $ than most of runescape combined. I have personally been shown inventories of 20 phat sets, 100 ancient armor sets, 35 red masks .. it is awful for players like me who actually skill to try and make enough to have fun now and then, and barely get by, when a guy that started playing after I did can mass stockpile items I could never afford. Actually he tried to teach me how to do it but I just am no good at merchanting and don't like buying or selling stuff to begin with.

I do understand the principles very well thank you, no they don't buy all of one item forever .. they buy enough to make the price raise and then dump it while it is high. They work in teams, I have seen them buying and selling like crazy, they are worse than the stock traders lol.

First off , i never said it was he end of the game ... I said i was concerned about the issue and hope that jagex keeps a close eye on those guys to make sure they are not able to abuse the system, because as I stated before was very excited about the exchange since I hate selling to begin with.

My concerns are how they set the prices and how they deal with people trying to manipulate them, It will be interesting to see what they do to address that issue, I too welcome the exchange, but like you said ...jagex has made updates far more destructive .. I hope they get this one right.
Just want to get back to the original subject on the New Duel System...
It's about time they added something like this... I mean, it shows that players can use their best items without losing them. (wild) Also, it's friendly competition for friends, and even clans.
My opinion on the price manipulating. They need to get a life. Why the Hell would you even care about changing the prices... Unless you have no life and just live off the game. But, thats just my opinion

They have always had the for fun duels , that is nothing new, the tourney is great, just the 3k cap on staking is terrible, I personally don't even stake but I mean if i was going to why would anyone stake only 3k? There is nothing if you win and nothing if you lose.. unless you consider 3k something lol.

I agree they have no life and make it very hard for players that play 15 min at a time, I can't sit still long enough to do alot of the things on rs as it is, It takes hours to do fight caves, barbarian outpost, god wars, and now the duel tourneys.. that is way more time than I care to spend sitting at my pc.. I am off and on alot, and when I do play more i like to do things that i can walk around with my laptop and not have to worry about getting K0'd all the time. It takes me forever to do anything on the game simply because I have better things to do.
Having work with the duel system for a while you can stake over 3k but only in items.
Instead of staking in 1mil gold you can both just stake a whip.
Also you cant do money gathering at the arena since you dont actully make money from it the money just exchanges hands.
example: 64 people stake 3k the prize will be 3k*64 or 192k. The winner gets all the money and no1 else. A clan wouldnt help here because its still 1v1 and they would be forced to fight themselfs.

Yes, but clan would be able to help .. just like in fight pits by choosing a winner or letting friends win when they fight each other in the tourney, Though the individual games are 1 vs 1, the long term endurance of it all is why they would be able to. For example say you have 50 clan members and 14 non clan members in a duel tourney, when the clan members fight each other they let one person win.. let the predetermined winner take no damage , thus that person only has to beat 14 non clan members if the other members haven't already weeded them out in previous deals. then all clan members take turns letting each other win until all have won the tourney.. thus making a profit, or even if they do not want to play so many times, all they would have to do is split the profits equally after the tourneys just as they have been doing for years at king black dragon, pking, and kalphite queen. Yes there would still be a chance that they could lose the tourney, but that would be a slim chance when you have 14 people fighting 50 regardless of 1 vs1 . It would still be profitable for clans to do the duel tourneys even with their only being " one winner". Now having clans that are 120+ combat do this in duel tourneys would be worth their while to do so... as I am sure they already figured out. That would be far more profitable than fight pits considering clans have been ruling pits since they came out... even though there can be only one winner there as well....
