Performance, was the main thing for me. Came back and was able to crank up the games graphics like I wanted to at release and be able to play the game.

I was not able to at release without falling through the world and crashing to the desktop. I'm using Vista x64 and it runs VG now very nicely. Will wait for tax refund next year to get a lot better graphics card. Using ATI x1950XT and it runs the game just fine.

Instead of focusing on a) hitching, b) lag, c) items disappearing, d) inability to find groups, and e) crashing

    ...

I am focusing on a) the beautiful graphics, b) the lore, c) intense and fun combat, d) performing well in a group; e) completing Quests; d) helping friends, e) exploring areas, f) and so forth.

I never left but it's just a better game overall. It still needs some work but it just works better. 200% better

Performance and bugs made me quit shortly after launch.  I was having fun, but didn't want to pay to beta test.

Since being back most of the bugs and peformance issues have gone, the community in-game are helpful and appear to have patience with the newbies (me), any question I have asked as been answered in a helpful manner. Loads of races and classes, I'm an alt-aholic, so this is a big seller for me. Also beautiful game world if your rig can handle it.

Well for me i would say its the fact that my 8800 GTX dosent crash every 10 minutes now , i never had a problem with preformance or bugs. When i first started playing on day 1 my computer ran the game fine it wasnt till a patch about 4 months in that my 8800 started crashing so i took a little break and its awesome now loving it

Well, I never cancelled my account.  But for me the two biggest improvements have been no more crashing... I crashed all the time with my 8800GTX.  The other improvement has been the population after the merges.  It was a downer pre-merge sometimes.  Now, on Seradon, it's bustling.  The ironic tongue in cheek joke on Seradon is the call for a server split.

the difference is night and day! As i Stated in my last post I am amazed!

    My rig-

    Intel Pentium III 500 oc'd to 625

    Supermicro P6SBA Motherboard

    Celestia PC-100 3.3v CAS-3 unbuffered SDRAM - 2x512

    STB Black Magic3D Voodoo3

I get a steady 85 fps in khal and 100+ in all outside areas. My FPS doesnt drop below 40 and I experience none of the hitching from before. Hvanet crashed once either since my return! And Im getting group invites before Ive fully loaded into the world!

Swede you are the perfect example of the Bad Vg community. Why do you have to be a smartass.

The game runs great with the 8800 series graphics cards. The only problem they really have is when your in a 6 man group doing a dungeon crawl and the particle effects start flying around. I can go from 35-40fps (running on high settings) to around 15-20 when everyones working their magic, skills, etc and we are fighting 2-3 mobs at once.

It looks amazing, and luckily in an mmorpg 15-20 fps isnt that big of a deal... it's not like this is a first person shooter where we need major fps. I noticed the particle sliders _hardly_ have any effect at all as well (in the settings area). They seem more like toggles then anything. I believe once SOE updates the game with the character skeleton fixes/optimizations we will see much better performance with large player gatherings.

Also - that's a sweet rig you plan to build. The game will run fantastic on it!
