It's like theres sooo many ships there and new ones coming in the expansion, as a new player i want a set focus to specialise in something. I'm just wondering what the best option would be for a solo'er who likes to get stuck in 1 vs 1 PVP. Right now i'm having alot of success with interceptors and i can take down cruisers but barely scratch battleships by myself.
So i'm thinking it's time for me to move on and in the expansion it says Marauder Battleships and they seem to be a good choice for a soloer but just want wise words from a more experienced player. I have alot of skills in Battleships already as i used to play in 2003 but back then it was jump in a Raven and go, now everythings changed and sooo much to choose from.
Anyways thanx for the help.
sum up...
Whats the best type of ship to go for as a solo pvper?
I know theres isn't one uber ship but just the ship that wont let you down.

The new ships are not for solo-work. Its that simple.

Ehh truely depends on what you want to focus on.
What race ships can you fly.
Amarr Recons (Pilgrims/Curses) are really good for solo work with a neutralizer setup.
Vaga is a good ship but the damage is miniscule and would have a hard time taking down a BS by itself if they have a decent tank.
Command ships are excellent solo, Astarte, Sleipner, Nighthawk, Absolution all amazing ships with DPS comperable to BS's.
And as to the comment about the new ships not being for solo work, hardly true. The new module for the heavy interdictors is going to be scripted to allow the choice between single point warp scrambling or the full blown bubble (which cripples you BTW) The overall resists on the Heavy interdictors are good enough to tank everything the game can throw at you indefinitely in a 1v1 even 2v1 situation. And with a sizable amount of damage from standard cruiser turret hard points can bring down anything short of a heavily tanked BC/BS/Capitols.
Just my 2 cents.

Soooooo......
Shall i just move onto Battleships?
Raven + missles
Megathron + blasters + drones
What are battlecruisers like?
Battlecruisers are decent. and as for a raven unless you can afford arbelast/T2 launchers and faction torps it's a crap ship for PVP And only then is it good against battleships. (upcoming torp "buff" some say buff some say nerf wtf ever) But megathrons are very good solo ships, almost the unquestioned masters of damage next to a megapulse Geddon which can't tank for shit FYI
but a basic Mega would be like 7x Neutrons, MWD scram web cap booster 2x magstabs DC II EANM II 2x1800mm rolled tungsten plates and either another EANM II or another Magstab II
Rigs? like.. 3 Trimark nano Pumps
Can get upwards of about 1200 DPS with perfect skills and implants and about 28k armor.
effective HP of about 110k
Ravens are just boo boo for anything non BS. unless you can use T2 cruise missiles and are using precision cruse missiles against like interceptors or something even then almost useless with the polycarbon setups that go faster than any missile out there.
Played - EQ 1/2, WoW, SWG, SWTOR, GW 1/2 UO, STO, CO, DCUO, AO, Rift.
Of the new ships, I think you'd find the best 1v1 PVP experiences would come from the dedicated EW frigates, and from the Black Ops Battleships (for some serious 0.0 rear-area hunting/gankage).
In the interim T2 ships, getting to HAC's is a good choice, they still offer a huge amount of bang for the buck. Even if they do cost an arm and a leg.
If you're flying interceptors now, try fitting a cheap PVP cruiser and see how nasty you can get it, and then post here about it. After all, a ship doesn't need to be T2 to manage, it just needs to be used better.
I would think the Vexor (cruiser) or Domi (bs) would be good ships. There not that expensive and have good DPS. As a solo PVP'er you have to plan on losing ships. With your Armor Resistance trained up and T2 drones and blasters these ships are lethal and replacable....just a thought.
