Maybe someone that has paid close attention can clarify this for me.
How exp from kills work.
It appears that it goes to whoever gets in the first shot. I tested with a rather low level character and what I did was run out to one of these outposts where the bane are continually attacking and where a lot of other players hang out to kill the bane.
The bane could kill me easily if I tried to take on a landing party of 3 or 4 solo.
So I would try to be the first to get damage in. I would throw a fragmentation grenade on a landing party and then run back into the base or find cover close by before they could kill me.
As long as I did not teleport out and stayed close to the battle I would get the exp when other players killed the mobs I bombed.
Please do not misunderstand me. I was not “trying” to steal anyone’s kills and I am not trying to condone this type of game play.
What concerns me is the potential for AOE exploits (like I was doing with emp bombs or fragmentation grenades) and power leveling low-level characters.
Has anyone else noticed this?

I think its whoever does the most damage to the mob.Ive been working on a mob b4 and had it stole from me so to speak by someone else that outdamaged me.
Darkfall - Sick
Earthrise - Sick
I know my class 1 frags did very little damage. 50-150 I think. Maybe I was getting a crit with it and those around that were actually killing the mob could not punch out a total damage hit higher than my grenade....?
Hard to say, but I think it's more like who HAS done most the damage. Because You can fight a long time agaist some enemy without actually getting it killed, then come someone who just blow it away and You can get the exp, because You did actually more damage than the last person who killed it. So, it's not first kill, but total amount of damage You have done.
That's just my opinion.
MMORPG.COM has worst forum editor ever exists
there's no EXP stealing - EXP is shared.
AFAIK it's damage done goes into calculation
thus comes another question - Specialists -
by repairing others armor and healing them - you will earn less EXP ?
or the amount of repairs/heals - counts towards EXP ???
lol - too many questions. no answers. as usual
The top three people that damage the beast get exp.
So if 10 people do damage to a monster, only the three that did the most damage to it get exp. Doesn't matter if you did it first, second or last... as long as you did the top three.
So if you're following a guy to a spot, and you can both just blast away at anything in your path, and you'll both get exp.
No more whines about kill-stealing! I love it.
Exp is shared if you've damaged a mob sufficiently enough even though someone else(not grouped with you) is attacking it. If you do to little damage you won't get exp.
You get no exp for healing grouped or not but you will get exp when your group mates kill something so it's in your best interested to heal them.
Playing: varies every day it seems.
Kill stealing still exists, it's just harder for people to do it.
Say a group engages what you were about to attack, they will more then likely bury your DPS with theirs and prevent you from getting exp and loot. But for 1 on 1, yes the problem is greatly reduced.
Playing: varies every day it seems.
That's why you get Rage 5 and Firearms 5 so no one can bury your DPS.
