I've seen some of the footage before, but it has some info about the different creatures and the NPCs throughout Age of Conan. It explains some of the AI that they will have as well.

watched it again, have to say it was a really good dev diary. New monsters look awesome and... OMG some of those finishing moves!
I hope for a version to be uploaded on the official site - along with the Black Ring Citadel trailer they are still missing. The high res version from gamespot when downloaded just plays the sound track
Anyway, love the monster and the finishing moves but most of all if they say what they say about the A.I and mobs and it comes to fruition in game. Well thats just whet my appetite even more.

A couple of people on the official forums said
"those wolves weren't just spawned there and performing animations of eating that deer.. the wolves were out HUNTING .. the A.I. , is programmed with "Need " intelligence... the wolves roamed as a pack.. they "needed" food so they killed that deer.
( you're not going to find the same pack of wolves and the same dead deer in the same place ever it seems..)
in that clip is the end result of that hunt. as far as they described it in this and past interviews related to the A.I. , all the NPC's huanoid AND beast included all have the "Need" programming... they function on the principles of what they need most.. if it's night, they'll "Need" to find fire wood, or "Need" to Build a fire, or "Need" to have a change of the guard.
That's why in the last minute of the thread the DEV said that if you attack a camp the wrong way.. the humanoid NPC's fulfill thier "Need" programming by :
-"Need" to call reinforcements
-"Need" to sound alarm
-"Need" to defend and destroy
etc.etc.etc.
game play and dynamics is going to be incredible and unlike anything we as gamers have ever seen to date."
"The AI sounds great. But did you see the guy blunge a hammer into that guards stomach and how the guard actually reacted to where he was hit? Fantastic Finally a responsive MMO."
Goto say its looking promising if they can put the stuff they say in. Im confident still :P and the animations are looking better!
It would also be cool to see the enemy npcs trying to flank you and not just go in a face to face fight. Imagine if they would try to flank you? That would hurt!
Couldn't put some parts of this Dev diary in a Teen rated game though, and I'm happy for that.
You probably should have read the report before spouting that load of misinformation.
Directly from the report: "The report examines the Sony® PlayStation®3, Nintendo® Wii™ and Microsoft® Xbox 360™ since each consoles’ release through June 1, 2007."
So that's a HUGE disclaimer considering what you're using it to support is a Mature PC Game, and the report was only for the 3 next-gen games.
And the metacritic score and average gross sales makes sense, considering games like Gears of War comprised the highest grossing games.
Here's a link to the "actual" report and not just a regurgitated sentence about the report.
The name of the study by the way is "Console Intelligence Brief 2007."
Oh and I take the part about a Mature PC Game back since it's coming out for the XBOX360 as well. So yeah, you can argue that the game will do well in the next gen console race.
But your very general statement that Mature games have the highest metacritic and average gross sales is highly inaccurate and wrong.

I did read the report ty very much, The fact is AoC will be on xbox 360 too, in case you forgot. Which will most likely be rated Mature. The study shows that Mature rated games tend to get better metacritical scores if the games have certain elements to them if you read on and also defined in other reports from that site. Making it very relevant. Especially considering the guy I quoted as saying, with the blood factor, which is also in 99% of released 'Mature' games on consoles. You dont see other games getting the ban stick or massive uproar about their release. We also don't even know if the 360 version will have the Microsoft Xbox 360 Achievement System in some sort of fashion.
But if you want I can link to you to the ratings board sites around the continents to see the percentage of mature games for PC sold in relation to direct sales and 'Online' games, coupled with the age groups that purchased the game and the age of the average gamer who plays online 'mature' games... both in male and female categories. But thats another topic.
Point is this video shows blood and brutality (without the nudity) and yet still it seems to shock people.

So far i love it, very kick ass!
love the A.I system hope it's as good as they say, i hated the idea of 'pulling' mobs
What a sweet dev diary and an even sweeter video. Loved every bit of it.
That was awesome, I am speechless. The AI is really going to set some immersion in AoC, excellent video.

It's rated Mature for a reason.
