America you suck....at soccer

FlemFlem Member UncommonPosts: 2,870

I think you should stick to baseball or something.  The LA Galaxy soccer team was here (Australia) recently and lost 5-3 to one of our local teams.

The whole thing though was just a big media circus revolving around David Beckham, not so much about the soccer.

That's ok, soccer is a sissy sport anyways.

David Beckham made a amazing cross on the England game we lost...

How amazing is that how he striked the ball and it moved with crouch and it was fanatastic. Was really the only good football we played all night lol.

USA is really weird cause the rest of the world plays sports together but America just seems to be ignorant to them and plays crap games like Baseball which is a girls rounders game. They play American football which is a girls version of Rugby and they play Basketball which i mean is ok i spose and Nascar which is just going round in circles *YAWN* the rest of the world prefers F1.

Recently they've started to get with the times and get more into the Olympics and Football and F1 etc etc. I hear they even started to play Rugby aswel but the problem is in America theres not enough support for these great sports where there should be.

I never have understood the enjoyment of watching Soccer.  To me it is like Baseball and Golf, as in sports that are more fun to play but really really boring to watch.

Soccer is a whole lot of running back and forth on the field with little payout since games can and often do end with scores like 1-0.  I watched a game a few years back in person at Tampa Stadium (this was before the new Stadium was built) and then watched a Goo Goo Dolls concert after the game.  My wife seems to enjoy Soccer but it just isn't strategic enough for me.

    Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Okay, now send over some of your football teams from NFL Europe and then we'll post a thread about that as well.

Respectively few Americans give a damn about Soccer, that isn't going to change, so just get over it please.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

How dumb, biased, and ignorant are you to say football is a girls version of rugby when those sports arent even similar?Oh and yeah I especially love the baseballs a girls sport. At least we dont run, trip on a blade of grass and act like were dying.

I disagree. To me, american football is a more girlier version of rugby, just look at all the padding you have. And all the breaks you take every 2 minutes in the game when your teams are switching.

As to the thing where football (soccer) players trip on a blade of grass and act like they are dying, i admit thats probably the only bad part of the sport. Oh and btw  the diving is more popular with the Italians.

Knives, havnt you been told to stop posting on these forums? Or at least told to stop talking about shit you have no clue about? At every corner I turn you are in a thread posting random ignorant run on paragraphs.

Im no expert on rugby and rarely seen it.However, from what I did see,its way different then football. For instance, its the constant movement.Your almost always constantly moving, passing or kicking the ball,it wouldnt really work with padding.

Also im not 100% sure on this, but football players get paid a boatload more then rugby players.Im sure most football player's careers last longer then Rugby players due to padding.

Rugby and American football are not even in the same category really, other than they are contact sports which use a similarly shaped ball.  I personally don't like American football much anymore, but I have played it and Rugby fans always talk about the padding as if it is a crutch.  Well the fact is that the padding allows football players to hit that much harder than rugby players.  The result is about the same in terms of effect.

As far as soccer, really only girls and little boys care about that sport in the US.  Outside of that demographic, there are about 0.001% of the population which would even care about some exhibition between one of our "pro" teams and some other country's team.  And yes, I played that game too, through high school (unfortunately).

I'm just glad, everytime people outside of America try to make people interested in football(soccer to Americans). Just drop it! Last thing we ever want is the top talent going to America, reducing the quality elsewhere in the world.

  • PraetorianiPraetoriani Member Posts: 1,147

I'm not an American, and I too think football is one of the most boring sports there is.

Then again, so is baseball, basketball, and stuff.

Dont play that rubbish here.  We have 4 codes of Football (Rugby Union, Rugby League, Soccer & Aussie Rules).  Why would we want to play a soft version.

Oh, and you need to lighten up.

    Oh noes...

I tried playing on a local rugby team that was started in my town. They quit letting me play because they said I hit to hard because in the scrum I would do a linemens punch and they couldn't take it I thought the game was kind of fun because it is fast but everyone hits so soft it's kind of like playing flag football to me.

Oh and I am not really that big I am like 5'10 and 255 lbs I am pretty old too it was funny because like 5 of the guys playing said how they played in england.

Honestly, the only people who care about the national soccer team are some girls who have some sort of obsession with David Beckham (Believe me, I know a few). I agree with the boringness of Baseball, and Golf especially. However, Basketball is decent to watch, and our Football > Yours any time of the day.

You can go ahead and yell about Football being for pansies, completely disreguarding the fact that A. Pads allow you to hit harder B. Bone fractures can occur in much the same way they do in Rugby (Somebody getting hit hard the wrong way). There is rarely any game where one of the players on either side don't go down with an injury that puts them out for a few games, in both Rugby and our Football. The sports are the same brutallity wise, no matter how you slice it, the only difference is how the games are played.

And even if they weren't, that doesn't change the fact that Soccer is not Rugby, and as such just because Rugby would be better than Football STILL doesn't make Soccer better than Football. It doesn't change the fact that Soccer players go down for no good reason and act like they got shot multiple times after watching their family be killed in painful ways. Add that to the low scoring games and the constant backandforthness adds up to Americans not liking Soccer.

Well the Galaxy arent really all that great of a team

soccer is my favorite sport to watch on TV, but i never watched MLS because i didnt think the quality was high enough, however i watched this years MLS final and i was incredibly impressed with how far the league has come since the last time i watched a few years ago

soccer is growing in america, someday it will be big like it is nearly everywhere else

  • Who cares if most of the world likes Soccer (Football), just becuase Euorpe has the EU doesnt mean we need a NAU.  Does it really matter if we suck at soccer?
