Hey the title says it all looking for help if its worth to come play this game i played it at the begining when it first came out but that was awhile ago and dunno how it was. So was wondering if somone can give me some incite.

you probably need to read some stickys though because they did a lot of changes since release.
and i just started playing too ^^
I honestly havnt considered FFXI, but I do hear they are making a lot of good changes

its definitely worth a shot. it has 30 day trial test, and after that u can decide wether u wanna go p2p or stop playing it, but i'm sure you'll go for the p2p
Lots of things have changed since the very beginning of the game, you can't imagine how much they increased the game!
This is a game I alway look at but have never tried (shame on me). I do have a question. Early on, I always heard what a nightmare it was to level as you would need a full group once your in your teens and finding that group could take a LONG time. As a father of 4, I'm more of a casual gamer. Is this game dooable these days to a casual player? If so, then I seriously need to give it a shot
Well, depending on the "Job" (Class) you are leveling, yes it can take a while to find a Group. But there are many jobs that find groups very easy. You can always create your own groups, which doesn't take long! BTW there is one job (Beastmaster) which is for people who prefer playing solo. So you can take BST up to lvl 75 without any groups.
But the game itself is really worth a shot! Try the Trial and u'll see. I'm on Shiva Server and i like it. Been playing this game for over 3 years.
There is a 30 day trial? I was interested in playing again, but I got the game when it first came out and apparently I can't even open my account anymore. I would really like to try it before I go out and put down the money for a whole seperate copy again. Buddy pass still exist? lol
The whole account get deleted after 45 days of not playing..which while is frankly shocking..people would have a witch hunt if SOE tried a stunt like this but square seem to get away with it i would come back (i like the game but need to take breaks every now and again) but for the very reason you have to shell out hard cash for the box again i wont.
Yeah when I first found out my account didn't exist anymore I was quite pissed. I guess there really isn't anything I can do though, and I did not play for a pretty long time. Still, I was really hoping to find a way to play a trial or something before shelling out for it. Someone, somewhere, someone has to have a buddy pass still lol.

Actually, they once deleted characters (although recoverable with account info.) after three months, not accounts. Accounts were deactivated I believe after one year. I've heard many people talk of reactivating these old accounts with their Reg. keys or Username/Password. As for characters, maybe you haven't noticed the Return to Vana'diel Campaign or whatever that's been going on for months now.
This is no longer the case anyway, and has not been for a long time. I'm not entirely sure of the details, but I know that they wait at least one year before deactivating any characters and one's account is always there. I've heard from some people that they don't delete characters at all anymore, but I haven't seen any proof. Things can change in three years.
And hard cash? Yeah, $1.99 is too expensive for the game with 30 free days. Want all of the expansions with your copy? $20.
Problem being, when I found out my account no longer existed I through out the box with the registration code. Kinda leaves me proverbally screwed.

worldpass are not needed anymore, you can now choose from a server list, where you wish to play.
Characters get "deleted" after 3 months DEACTIVATION, not after 3 months not playing. I mean, why should they delete a character, just because the owner doesnt use it anymore but they still get cash from it?
But, there is a way to get your "deleted" (they arent really deleted) character back, if it didnt get "deleted" to long ago (like over 1 year). Contact POL for that.

Got the info from a squaresoft rep in the uk the whole account was gone aftre 3 months its in the manual as well look it up so in fairness to square they do tell you thiss still sucks though
